Wednesday feel good story

| August 21, 2013

Chief Tango sends us today’s feel good story from Virginia in which a woman turned a young man’s life around;

[Lenville W.] Wilson is accused of attempting to steal from a woman, whose name was not released, who was alone at her Fiesta Drive home around 7:25 a.m.

“He apparently came to the door and once she opened the door, he forced his way in and produced a knife,” Newman said. “He asked her for drugs or medication.”

Newman said the man then ordered her around the home – the reason for the abduction charge – and at some point, the woman grabbed her handgun and began firing.

Four shots were fired, Newman said. Two struck Wilson, one in his right shoulder and one on his left cheek near his ear.

Mr. Wilson stumbled into the police station after discovering that self-doctoring isn’t as easy as they make it look in the movies. According to the article, WIlson had no record, well, until Monday, so he got his life turned around twice.

I have no problem with what the lady did after the thug forced his way into the house. My problem is with the events prior. A gun does not make up for common sense — ever. It’s a machine, not a guardian angel, and no matter how reliable they are, they can’t always fix stupid. Opening your door to a stranger is a good way to have reality stroke you one across the chops.
