Detention hearing for Adam Danger (Updated)
A DC judge has decided that our buddy, Adam Kokesh, is a danger to the community and he’s been confined for three days awaiting a detention hearing, according to CNN;
District of Columbia Magistrate Judge Lori Parker said Kokesh “poses a danger” and went “out of his way” to violate the district’s laws.
2012: F-bombs attack anti-swearing lawKokesh’s attorney, Peter Cooper, said after the appearance in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia that his client is making a “political statement,” but argued the government is doing the same thing.
“Their allegation about danger, I believe, is unwarranted,” Cooper said.
It’s been my experience that if a person doesn’t want to be treated like a nut, they shouldn’t act nutty.
From the Washington Post;
The judge said he found “probable cause” that Kokesh did violate the District’s gun laws. ”I consider your client a very dangerous man,” Sullivan said. “You don’t make a political statement with a gun.”
The hearing often became contentious as Cooper and Sullivan argued. At one point, one of Kokesh’s friends sitting in the audience was ordered out of the courtroom.
Yep, that’s how you get a sympathetic hearing for your client – argue with the judge, that always end well.
UPDATE: Chip sends us a link to the DCist which reports that Kokesh was denied bail today.
A D.C. judge called Adam Kokesh a “very dangerous person” in denying bond to the gun rights activist on a charge stemming from a video Kokesh posted in which he appears to load a shotgun while standing on Freedom Plaza.
I’m sure your lawyer can get in another argument with the judge and get you thrown in the hole, Adam. He’s due back in court on August 13th. Remember to sleep on your back, Adam, otherwise, it’s just an invitation.

No Bail and bending over in the D.C. Jail. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
Uh-oh. Somebody is in BIG trouble. I told him not to play with guns. Now look. He went and pissed off a black robe.
My only beef with this is that David Gregory should be sitting in a cell right next to Kokesh, but unfortunately, some people are more equal than others.
If I were Kokesh, I would have made the DC gun scene a “green screen” production. But, if he was smart in the first place, drugs wouldn’t have been in the house when the police came.
I concur with Old Trooper. Gregory should be in Federal-Pound-me-in-the-@ss Prison with Kokesh. They both pulled the same type of stunt, blatantly displaying contraband for a political purpose. I thought Kokesh was pretty funny when he was trolling the Million Mom March, but everything else he does makes him the poster boy for irresponsible gun ownership. The same goes for those wannabe Kokesh followers who display a legally owned, loaded firearm in the open for the purpose of baiting the cops into violating their rights on camera. Those people piss me off too. Quit looking for trouble with a gun on you dumbass.
“You don’t make a political statement with a gun”
Uh, I thought it was the opinion of DC that you could break gun laws in relation to 1st Amendment activities?
Turd.
I know the trial hasn’t happened but “probably cause”? How much probably can there be in filming yourself break the law? Hope he enjoys the wonderful folks he’ll meet in the cell block. I am sure they will have a special love for him. Unless, due to the national attention he is in secluded detention. If so, bummer. I know he looks pretty to somebody in there who has seen him.
Another way to ensure the judge takes a big shit on you–ensure that you pack the courtroom with a bunch of nutbag followers, ala the Manson Family, only Kokesh is crazier.
“Smart” and “Kokesh” make up an oxymoron. They also don’t make any sense.
The title reminded me of the start of an old Firesign Theatre LP bit, “Nick Danger, Third Eye”
Out of the fog, and into the smog (koff! koff!), he walks again by night.
Relentlessly
Ruthlessly (I wonder where Ruth is?)
Doggedly (arf! arf!)
At Fourth and Drucker he turns left
At Drucker and Fourth he turns right
He crosses McArthur Park and walks into a great sandstone building (OUCH! MY NOSE!)
Did the judge just say that they have anti-swearing laws in DC?
Kokesh might indeed be an idiot, but if a government wishes its’ citizens to have a respect for the law the law should be applied as equally as possible. Just because Kokesh is not David Gregory who figuratively blows the president with every sentence he utters does mean he should face a different outcome.
Gregory and Kokesh are both idiots, but I do not fear either man nor do I believe either man represents an actual threat to our safety. A threat to our average intelligence perhaps but nothing is accomplished by pursuing a case against one and not the other. It only increases the perception that justice is more about your connections and wealth than your actual crimes….we all know that to be fairly true now, no need to rub our noses in it.
Any relation to Carlos Danger?
”I consider your client a very dangerous man,” Sullivan said. “You don’t make a political statement with a gun.”
roflmao.
It’s only ok if it’s anti gun then it’s acceptable. Sorry, but as much as Kokesh is an idiot this double standard here is obviously political in nature and an overreaction.
He’s an idiot, yet here the government is basically solidifying part of his point with this ruling.
Remind me, did David Gregory actually have a loaded mag? If not, then comparing having an unloaded mag on a tv set with having a loaded firearm in a public place don’t seem comparable, other than both being illegal of course.
@14 No but he’s a cousin to Charles Peligro
@ 16 “Other than both being illegal of course” I see what you did there….
@14 – one of the local station is running a show on how a Miami psychiatrist, whose real name IS Carlos Danger, has had a really rough time since Anthony started showing his Wiener again.

Possession of any magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds, aka a “high capacity magazine”, is illegal within Washington DC, regardless of whether it’s loaded or not. David Gregory was clearly in possession of said illegal object, as he was recorded and broadcast on TV holding one in his hand and waving it in LaPierre’s face. He committed a felony on TV and he will not be held accountable for it because he is more equal than Kokesh, and he is certainly more equal than you or I.
Not once in all the time I’ve known of and or heard myself say, have I ever accused Kokesh of being intelligent. But in this case I may make an exception. Play brilliant games, win brilliant prizes, way to go Kokesh. You are so f’ng intelligent, that I’m going to call you “Slick” from here on out, okay “Slick”?
Why David Gregory hasn’t been charged is beyond me but he should be parked in the same cell “Slick” is occupying.
Holding an unloaded, large capacity magazine is illegal in DC. Holding a loaded firearm in a public place is both illegal and dangerous if the holder is not a responsible gun owner. Thus, Kokesh was both armed and dangerous. Gregory was just holding illegal hardware. While I think Gregory should have been charged, I would not call these parallel cases.
There are also other factors that weighed in favor of enforcing against Kokesh that are not part of the Gregory matter. First, this is not Kokesh’s first brush with DC law enforcement. Really, how many times can this ass hat be arrested before he actually gets a bit of jail time as a repeat offender? Second, he called on others to walk around DC open carrying. What is the likelihood that one of his “followers” would accidentally shoot someone (pretty high) which makes Kokesh even more dangerous.
In summary, I think Gregory should have been arrested for knowingly and openly violating the law, but think the law should be changed. I am glad they arrested little Adam for his little temper tantrum and think that all of these issues should be sufficient to keep Adam from owning firearms because he is clearly to irresponsible to handle such ownership. I hope he gets a felony conviction so that he can no longer own firearms because that is what he deserves.
I wonder how many cigarettes Bubba & Thor get each time they pimp him out to another inmate?
Susan–Gregory SHOULD be in jail, but that doesn’t make what Xanax and Gin boy did any less stupid.
And yes, as it goes, say it altogether now:
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I wonder if he will get to keep his hair gel?
Shitbird.
The Corps should have brutally sodomized him with the green weenie for his “war trophy” crap.
I echo Susan’s comments and hope they stick a felony conviction on him so he can no longer own firearms.
“I consider your client a very dangerous man,” Sullivan said. “You don’t make a political statement with a gun.” Apparently, the judge never availed himself of the opportunity to watch Diane Feinstein do just that, on Capital Hill, with an AR-15.
Not defending the douchenozzle, Kokesh in any way, but, Judge Sullivan doesn’t appear to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, either.
”I consider your client a very dangerous man,” Sullivan said. “You don’t make a political statement with a gun.”

I thought we did just that about 236 years ago?
I feel like this all just encourages him somehow. If he doesn’t get arrested, it validates his sense that he’s getting somewhere. If he does get arrested, it validates his sense that America needs a revolution.
A young man his age should be out gallivanting in pursuit of poon, not this silly activism. He’s clearly a victim of borderline personality disorder, or whatever the clinical term is for batcrap crazy.
