300 Afghan police killed last month
Military.com reports that 17 Americans died in Afghanistan last month as the Taliban tries to improve their position at the bargaining table in Qatar. Meanwhile, Stars & Stripes reports that nearly 300 Afghan police have been killed and more than 600 have been wounded in the spike in violence across the country;
[Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq] Sediqqi also noted that 753 insurgents were killed and 300 arrested during the same period. In addition, 180 civilians died in the fighting, he said.
In contrast, casualties among the NATO-led international forces are currently at a 5-year low, an ISAF spokesperson confirmed.
As Afghan casualties mount, their Medevac capability is strained say another Stars & Stripes reporter;
The nascent air force is struggling to get off the ground just as Afghan security forces have officially taken responsibility for security across the country. At the same time, NATO air units have backed off providing evacuations and other support considered routine in the past. That has left some Afghan army and police units feeling abandoned as casualties have soared.
Yeah, well, it’s only going to get worse, guys. You should have been working all of this out over the last ten years instead of waiting to be concerned about it in the closing months of our involvement.

Can someone translate the following into Pashto for me?
Well that’s great, that’s just fuckin’ great, man. Now what the fuck are we supposed to do? We’re in some real pretty shit now man! That’s it man, game over man, game over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Sucks for the Afghani’s, particularly since the AFG Air Force is still in its infancy, and is reported to not be fully operational by 2016. It’ll be too late. The whole country will be back in Taliban control by then.
Fuck ’em.
Anybody running an over/under on when Karzai will be on the first thing screaming to the UAE?
@1, LOL. I love Hudson.
B. Hussein 0bama has announced our withdrawal, and he’ll do all he can in order to ensure failure. Hey, everything else from him and his administration’s been failure, and he’ll never turn down a chance to spit on the US Military and Veterans!
I guess the enemy (the Taliban) never really was defeated, though they were sure on the run, for several years.
It didn’t hurt them a bit that, when we had an ally in Pakistan, that pressed an offensive into Taliban lands, the current Politician in Chief in the US did nothing to provide the anvil to Musharaf’s hammer, instead letting the Taliban enemy slip across the Afghan border long enough to get their respite, and Pakistan returned the favor of giving the Taliban a sieve back into Pakistan when he finally put a 6″ ounce hammer on the Afghan side of the border.
So, it should be pointed out that, with US Troops “no longer in charge of security,” more US Troops have been killed than during any of the “Booosh years.” And since the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania said “Afghanistan would be” his “top priority” in 2008, it would appear that his priority was to do everything in his power to lose the war, and that he has been successful in that. Imagine how badly he screwed up his lesser priorities.
As to Karzai, his term expires, and he is forbidden from running again, before the “last combat Troops” leave, so yeah, Obama will finally have his wish to get him out of office, and will continue to blame Karzai, as he has continued to blame Booosh, with greater effectiveness, as both sides of the aisle are willing to jump on that bandwagon.
Pakistan has been going through the same thing with such a high amount of casualties from a seemingly unpopular and small Islamist group. I think the reality is that these Islamists aren’t the minority, but the majority and are supported by far more than who don’t openly admit it their support of them. That’s the only way I can fathom this type of shit going on for decades in these Islamic states. I wonder how many of these stealth Islamists are within our own borders only waiting for the bold ones to start shit.
It’s the same damn shit they pulled in Vietnam… They left those allies of ours to die at the hands of the communists that took over that country after sacrificing 58,000+ of our own best and brightest and bravest !!!
God dammit I am so sick and tired of lilly livered politicians. The blood of all those that died fighting there is on their hands…
Shit, I am just pissed off to the n’th degree…
I guess I’m cold, but it’s better them than our troops…it’s their fu–ed country. That high loss rate comes with only giving a 15 min police academy

Put me in the camp of folks who say it’s time to get out of there, as well.
I’m okay with a base or two full of special operations troops from which we can launch attacks and control drones, but I’m beyond sick and tired of spending billions trying to rebuild this backward, broken, and uneducated country. These people are decades and decades — if not centuries — away from understanding things such as democracy and decency.
I’m sorry there are women who will be mistreated. I’m sorry they won’t have the right to vote and the Taliban will soon be whipping and shooting people in the streets. But we gave them a chance. We’ve stayed longer than we stayed in Vietnam. They could have helped us make this happen.
Instead, guys like Karzai and his corrupt cronies have undermined us at nearly every step and inflamed the misguided masses to believing the BS propaganda from the Taliban.
We’ve done our part to try to help them, but as a whole, we’ve been roundly rejected. Let’s hand them the keys and wish them well. (Who knows, such a threat may actually lead to them appreciating our efforts and helping us stabilize their shithole of a country before we skip in 2014. Reverse psychology is a deadly tool.)
