Abd al Hadi, Gitmo undergrad faces pretrial hearing

| June 11, 2013

JAGC sends us some links to the story of Abd al Hadi and his pretrial hearing coming up next week. Hadi is a war criminal in the classical sense, what I mean is clear in the charges;

[Prosecutors] say he directed his forces to use a variety of unlawful means, such as attacking civilians, detonating car bombs and suicide vests in civilian areas, and videotaping the resulting deaths for propaganda purposes.

The charge sheet links Hadi and his forces to numerous attacks on U.S. military targets, several of them deadly, and to a failed plot to assassinate Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in the spring of 2002. It accuses him of paying a reward to the Taliban for assassinating a civilian United Nations worker in Afghanistan in 2003.

Hadi, who is 51 or 52, faces four specific charges alleging acts that violated international rules governing armed conflict. He could face life in prison if convicted by a tribunal of U.S. military officers at the Guantanamo base, where he has been held since 2007.

Specifically, Hadi is charged with “denying quarter,” by ordering his forces to kill all U.S. and allied forces on the battlefield, including the wounded, without accepting surrender or taking prisoners.

Hadi led the insurgency in Afghanistan and Pakistan and was sent to do the same kind of work in Iraq by Osama bin Laden. he’s also charged with trying to shoot down a medivac chopper that was clearly marked along with trying to take busloads of German and Estonian soldiers with car bombs.

Here’s a .pdf of the charging documents, if you’re interested in it.

I think my email was confusing… the 9/11 case has pretrial hearings next week; USS Cole hearings this week. This guy was just charged, meaning the charges are awaiting a referral by the Convening Authority. Once that happens, he will be arraigned at GTMO.

USMCE8Ret

Among other things he’s charged for “giving no quarter”.

Fuggin’ savage.

@2: Yep. My take is to do unto him as he wanted to do unto us. Take him out back and put a .45 to the back of his cranial region and squeeze one off.

Sparks

@2 You got it. I agree with @3 a .45 to the back of his melon. Give no quarter my ass, when our troops risk their lives giving quarter to an insurgent or other enemy combatant who may be strapped with a bomb or holding a hand grenade just waiting to be taken prisoner to get close enough. POS needs to die ASAP!

I’ve got no problem beating him to death with a baseball bat….no need to waste a bullet and I’ve got some spare time in my schedule now that spring sport season is over and I am not needed to referee….a little work with a Louisville Slugger could be just what the doctor ordered….

VOV,
I like your attitude.
Can I cheer you on and give moral support?

@5. I assume it will not be composite, although BBCOR certified is not required. I recommend an alloy, drop 3, nothing lighter than 32 oz. Wood? Too damn fragile unless it’s temple only. Batter up!
