Wednesday feel good story

Fox News reports that Shawn Schank, an Iraq veteran, stopped a gas station robbery with an evil scary black rifle and his foot in Shingleton, Michigan on Sunday;

State police said Shawn Schank was inside the gas station about 4:10 a.m. Sunday in Shingleton, an Upper Peninsula community in Alger County, when two people wearing ski masks forced their way into the building and approached the cash register.

Police say Schank kicked one of them, retrieved the AR-15 from his office and ordered the burglars to leave.

Police say one of the burglars took off his mask and pleaded with Schank not to shoot him before both suspects fled on foot.

I guess scary black rifles are scary to criminals as well as liberals, but I don’t see much daylight between the two anyway.

“… I don’t see much daylight between the two anyway.”

Ding, ding, ding! Money quote of the day, IMHO…

Ha! Another reason Im glad im from MI. See ARs arent neccessarily “evil scary guns” (sorry to quote you but thats what most politicians do think of those rifles anymore.)

And i think it should be noted that these positive instances of AR-15s being used are NEVER spoken of to the same extremes that the negative instances are.

You’re both right.
They both want to steal from you, that which you have rightfully earned, that which is NOT theirs, by FORCE – one with a gun and the law, the other with a gun outside the law.

That’s a bit biased and hyper-partisan, dont you think? Most people are liberal, conservative or progressive on an issue by issue basis… they’re not some kind of membership clubs you have to follow lock-step.

That’s the kinda thinking that’s made it impossible for people to talk with one another in any civil regard these days.

Then why is it that Democrats are so hot-cock to give voting rights back to convicted felons, Isa?

Might it have to do with their preponderence to vote Democrat?

Isanova

never heard any major move to restore voting rights to felons, except some talk of doing so for non-violent felons caught with personal use levels of drugs… but even that has never been mainstream in the DNC to my knowledge.

There’s plenty to rag on with any of the political parties without resulting to gross generalizations and fallacious arguments meant to get a rile out of people… it’s just that is what draws the viewers so it is what newstainment focuses on. Real issues don’t matter, no matter what “side” of politics one finds themselves on.

I think George III said something akin to that during June 1775.

According to Project Vote, there are only 4 states who “disenfranchise” all offenders, Florida, Kentucky, Iowa and Virginia. 7 other states “disenfranchise” “some offenders”, Alabama
Delaware
Nevada
Wyoming
Arizona
Mississippi
Tennessee

The remainder of the states restore voting rights after completion of sentence, including parole and/or probation. There may be an application process involved in some states.
