Ken Crocheron in the news
Local news finally got the story of Ken Crocheron, the clown we covered a few weeks back and made famous;
In 2007, Crocheron told Jeanes he was deploying to Afghanistan for one week, and he even called.
“I heard gunfire in the background and he said, ‘Oh, I’m in a firefight. I gotta go.’ So, he hung up,” Jeanes said.
Jeanes ordered his military records and discovered Crocheron served in an artillery unit at Fort Douglas from 1966 to 1971.
“This guy is a complete fraud and has been lying to us the whole time,” Jeanes said.
They confronted Crocheron last week, and KSL TV confronted him today.
“I’m not a member of the military, nor have I been since 1971,” Crocheron said.
He says the lies spiraled after trying to inspire the sick child.

Those one week deployments to combat zones have to really take a toll on you. He must have taken the commuter flight of Salt Lake City with a direct connection to Bagram.
“He says the lies spiraled after trying to inspire the sick child.” Except that, as one commenter says on the TV website, the lies predate his contact with the family he duped. What’s more, the Dad reportedly grew suspicious because Kenny was, like the sheep in the nursery rhyme, showing up wherever the Mom was. If he still ‘just happens’ to show up where Mom is, I would be talking to the local police regarding the crime of stalking.
Time for Crotchrot to reap the whirlwind.

Guy is a total creep and douchebag. Never mind the Stolen Valor part, this guy has some other issues going on and I would not want him within 1,000 feet of loved ones.
If everything else said about his actions is true, and why doubt it? The guy is nuts, and not in the funny haha way, but in that “keep your kids away from that guy, something just aint right” kind of way.
A valor thief, creep, and potential stalker all tied-up in one little package. The folks in Utah should keep their families and loved ones away from this POS.
What scares me is that this guy is probably only a short time away from being on a sex offender registry.

The dude was such a fraud, just by looking at his “PX Ranger” uniform, that it wasn’t difficult to know for a fact that he was lying. There was never a question in my mind.
I saw this on KSL this morning, what a great wakeup!

The comments after the story excusing this ass clown are enough to gag a maggot, but with such a small percentage of the American population serving in the military, stolen valor is not that big a deal to the average citizen. It is a damn shame, but it is true. At least he has been exposed for the lying POS that he truly is.
@15 – What I see fitting in cases like these is when people run across folks like Crotchrun, and should find themselves suspicious of outlandish claims, they “Google” his name it would likely point him to this site (and others).
Then they get an eyeful and can make up their own mind (that is, if they even care about being lied to in the first place.)

For those who think it was awful that he was exposed while committing no crime that we know of at this time it is important to remember what the Supreme Court stated in the US vs Alvarez case that struck the Stolen Valor act.
The Supreme Court said the only remedy for speech that is false, is speech that is true. KSL used that remedy in this story. It’s newsworthy because the Supreme Court has said it’s the only vehicle available to honorable men and women.
Should the statute be rewritten in a more narrowly defined sense as the court has requested the story would then be newsworthy because a crime would have taken place.
In the absence of that new statute, and with the Supreme Court offering the truth as a remedy this story is newsworthy because it reveals to society a charlatan, someone who is seeking trust through false claims. Because he did not seek monetary gain he does not qualify as a criminal in a fraud case. But he was seeking the trust of the family. Why not tell these folks he heard of their difficult situation and offer to assist as a decent neighbor? Why the charade? Then the news story would be one about a good Samaritan neighbor who organized fund raisers, and/or found real heroes from the local military or national guard to visit the child. In that situation his honorable service would have recognized, and the local military and guard personnel would have thought Mr. Crocheron an honest, honorable and decent man. And veterans like myself all over the nation would gladly have called him brother.
Duty, honor, country are more than words, they are an ideal that those who serve our nation honor every day with self sacrifice. When someone disgraces those words, that’s always newsworthy.
@12 – Didn’t quite know what you meant until I scrolled down and then I saw several consecutive comments in regard to him being a hero and representing the military in a good fashion and then I threw a hardcovered book through the library. And what the fuck is Fort Douglas??? I didn’t even have the temprement to google it. Wasn’t that the fake Army post that was portrayed on “The Unit”?

@23 It explains why our society is as f#cked up as it is though. I believe it’s because we worship celebrities actors and athletes who are liars, adulterers, reprobates and addicts. If a society believes those people are worthy of admiration and adulation the actions of local liars takes on a lesser meaning.
One could argue that a society that has liars, addicts and frauds as it’s wealthy role models would begin to model itself on that behavior as it will be seen as a path to success. Therefore local liars are then acceptable because they are following in the footsteps of that society’s elite stars….
But of course movies don’t influence anyone, or have any ability to make people act in any way they don’t want to. Those tricky liars in Hollywood have everyone fooled…they have the public believing the media doesn’t influence people by desensitizing them to mindless gratuitous violence and rampant promiscuity to avoid legislative oversight, but they have advertisers believing that can indeed influence the public into buying certain products and emulating fashion and lifestyles that the public views in these various media formats.

The family should now accept me when they discover I am a complete phony, because I helped the kids out, don’t tell anyone else and make it public because you haven’t been harmed at all with opening your home to a fake. And your kids thinking all guys in uniform might be liars is okay as long as the liars try to help you out…
That’s good for me the poser because if I could have pulled off seducing mom while I was following her all around like the creeper I really am that’s all good too, right? Folks commit adultery all the time no reason to rat me out after I stop being involved with your family….after all I might want to “help” some other families too especially struggling families maybe even a few with a single mom…because they might enjoy having a liar and a fake in their house just as much as you do, and as long as the kids are all right it’s all good…and maybe I can bang some more unsuspecting moms especially those who are feeling vulnerable and all alone in their struggle with their sick child, no I am not newsworthy….nothing to see here folks, just keep moving….

I do, however live just a couple miles from Colonel Cockmunch.
Saw this on KSL. This guy is unbelievable… Part of the problem is that so few Utahns serve in the military that a poser like this can do a lot of damage..
I noticed someone questioned what Fort Douglas was…In the 1800’s it was a cavalry outpost and later became a small active duty artillery post. In both world Wars it was a POW camp. After WW2 it became a reserve center and when the 2002 Winter Olympics came it was used as athlete housing. Presently, it is mostly dorm space for University of Utah students and a small Army Reserve Center.
The irony is, this guy was probably in a reserve unit in the sixties in order to get out of Vietnam.

As for “Colonel” Crotchrot, like I’ve said in earlier threads, it’s only a matter of time until some Vet like me finds that poodle turd and treats him like a cheap doormat with Jane Fonda’s picture on it!!
I should have watched the video before I posted. Now that I’ve seen it, I have to say that falls right in line with some advice we were given while I was in A-stan. It was during the JCS’s Christmas tour there, and after GEN Pace, USMC spoke, a Colonel and MOH recipient (I can’t remember the man’s name right now) advised us NOT to make up stories about what we did during our tours, because, as I remember him saying it, “Once you make up one lie, you have to make up another lie to cover it, and before you know it, you’re living at the bottom of a swimming pool full of lies!” I consider Crotchrot’s saga as crystal clear proof of how right he was! I don’t think Crotchrot’s genuinely sorry about what he’s done, he looks and acts like he’s only sorry he got caught! MAYBE this is the end to his games, but he could turn out like what Senior Chief Don Shipley says about most of the posers he busts, “They’ll take their lies with them to the grave.”.
