New York State has gone nuts
Dominick sends us a link to The Blaze which tells the unbelievable story about John Mayer, of Commack, N.Y., whose son was overheard discussing getting even with another boy who had pushed a friend on the playgroud. They talked about going to the villain’s house with a water gun, “paint gun” and a BB gun.
Mayer told TheBlaze that a teacher overheard the students talking and immediately called police and filed a report. He said the teacher told police something to the effect of, there’s a “kid with a gun, ready to go.” Mayer maintains that no serious death threats were made by the students. The Hauppauge Public School District has not returned several messages left by TheBlaze, therefore, it is not clear what they are claiming was said.
School officials then “interrogated” the boys, Mayer explained. It was later determined that the 10-year-old boys did not have access to a BB gun, paintball gun or any actual firearms.
So the school suspended the younger Mayers for two days and police came to Mayer’s household who explained to the father that they may need to confiscate his legally owned and safely stored weapons. So Mayer transferred his guns to friends and a gun shop to prevent their confiscation. He then got a call from the county Pistol Licensing Bureau who informed him that his license was suspended and that the police would come the next day to round up the firearms. he was then informed that his license might be suspended until his 10-year-old son moves out of the house.
I guess the word “rights” has no meaning in New York State anymore. Aside from his second amendment rights, it seems to me the the fourth amendment says something about “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated…”. The Fifth Amendment mentions that “no person shall…be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law….”
Has anyone in New York State ever read the Constitution?

“Has anyone in New York State ever read the Constitution?”
No. Next question?
Mark my words, soon enough one of these idiot politicians is going to get a policeman killed trying to take a gun away from a law abiding citizen. I wish the cops would tell the Mayor, here, take my .38 and go disarm him yourself, asshole.
Rights? We don’t need no stinkin’ rights! /sarc
Mother of Christ. The whole state is whacked.
On a more serious note…I’d pack up my family, AND my guns, and run like hell, if I were Mr. Mayer. He’s clearly being made the litmus test by emboldened New York gun-grabbers.
He’a about to get his fifteen minutes of fame, and I don’t think he’s going to enjoy it.
Here they come…
This is the same State where the Liberals are trying to pass a law that all gun owners have to buy liability insurance for their guns.
That’s like watching some weird Quentin Tarantino movie come to life, except in this one the bad guys don’t end up getting what’s coming to them.
I’m getting creeped out over this. I truly am.
Jesus Christ. Move out, just move out.
Yet another reason to shrink gubmint. There always have been and presumably always will be an unhealthy percentage of bureaucrats who are incompetant at best or power hungry idiots at worst. The only way to protect ourselves from them is to keep their total number as low as possible.
Told someone yesterday that we may look back on these days and realize that the revolution or civil war or whatever it should be called has already begun. Sad, sad days. Folks can no longer afford to pay these nuts to mistreat them on this scale.
Crazy indeed.
@10 Everybody needs to think long and hard, because we’re being forced to pick a side.
And very soon now, I think the fence is going to disappear.
Things have not deteriorated in Illinois to this state just yet. I dont’ have an issue with Cook Count’s bullet tax, because the money goes to a fund to pay for indigent gunshot victims who have little or no insurance and end up going to some place like Stroger Hospital. They used to go to Cook County. It does ease some of the financial burden.
But I do have issues with people in so-called authority going hysterical over nothing and abusing their authority. I’ve seen that for the 60-plus years I’ve lived in Illinois, and it ain’t pretty. The most recent is Mayor Rahm in Chicago closing schools in specific areas and requiring the kids & parents to cross gang lines on the way to school. These are grade-schoolers on up. When you look at him on TV, you can see how dead his eyes are. He doesn’t give a flip who gets hurt by his decisions.
None of this is a good thing.
Oh no, they’re not coming for our guns! Oh no, the sheer logistics makes that impossible! Right. As I said before, it will take time and process but the early signs are right in front of our very eyes.
I wonder whether the teacher will get the $500 NY rat payoff.
Yeah, registration is their inroad to confiscation, period. This is a prime example of what is going to happen everywhere if we don’t draw that line in the sand and say “enough”. Pop tarts, bubble blowing toy guns, pointing your finger and saying “bang, and now this. Just more excuses to grab guns, period.
I want any defenders of universal background checks/registration to tell me again how “they’re not going to take your guns”. Screw you. Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.
“Has anyone in New York State ever read the Constitution?”
They’ve read it when they want to burn the US flag, have people like Ahmadinejad come speak at Columbia, when they want to use “Freedom of the Press” to google map every gun owner in the state, etc etc.
The Constitution is only viable when it is convenient for their purposes.
I bet that same teacher has said something similar, as in “I’m going to punch that person in the nose” or “I should spank that student myself” but its okay because she’s a liberal teacher.
@14. You know, this stuff has gotten so insane, I’ve really had enough. If a convicted felon in some states does not lose his right to vote, he should not lose his right to buy a gun. If a former mental patient can vote, purchase a truck and, if he wishes, use it to plow into a crowd outside a high school football game, then he, too, can have a gun as far as I am concerned. In other words, I’m as willing to go to the opposite extreme to open up gun ownership as the tyrants are willing to restrict it. I really have had my fill of this insanity.
The most worrisome thing about this is that the teacher did not bother talking to either of those boys to find out what was going on and advising them to find another way to ‘get even’, which is appropriate behavior for a teacher.
No. It was draw that line called a conclusion and jump to it. I think I would file a complaint against the teacher, the school district and school board, and the police, too, mostly for over-reacting and scaring the crap out of a couple of 10-year-old boys.
This is what people did when Stalin was the Big Guy in Moscow. Anyone besides me remember that? No? I must be getting old.
It’s an hour and a half later and I’m even more creeped out by this than I was the first time I read it.
@11-the good news is, our side has most of the guns. And before anybody says “what about the police and the military?” who’s side do you think they’re going to choose?
and look how quick this tyranny is escalating?
we be in the badlands now
Meanwhile, in Racine, Wisconsin, the aldermen have decided that citizens can’t carry concealed in a city building. But the aldermen exempted themselves from the ordinance. Apparently, because they can. http://www.wisconsincarry.org/news/racine-alderman-vote-to-ban-concealed-carry-but-exempt-themselves.aspx
Where is the ACLU when you need them? The Center for Civil Rights … the National Association of You Can’t Make This Shit Up … this is a great case!
Sadly, even ‘voting with your feet’ won’t help the citizens of New York should they choose to move. What happens here is really only a fore-runner of things to come. That shifting ‘Overton Window’ is on the move again.
I agree with PintoNag…choices need to be made, and folks will have to get off the fence. You either believe in individual liberty or you don’t. There doesn’t seem to be alot of room for any middle ground anymore, and it’s going to be ugly when it comes to a head.
Oh, gee, golly, good ol’ Maryland just passed a seriously strict gun control law. People who don’t like it want it held for referendum in the fall vote.

Someone please tell me what is it about these overgrown children that has them so terrified of something they should learn to use wisely? (Add noun here)
IMHO, this is a sample of what the left wants to infect with and inflict on the rest of the USA. They’ve been conditioned to accept this up North, but they’re in for a very rude awakening the moment they try to push that crap on us “Red State Americans”!
I agree with what Stacy0311 says.
Of the cops and military folks I’ve spoken to (and that would be quite a few), they’ve all said that if they were ordered to confiscate guns they wouldn’t do it.
Their rationale?
It’s an unlawful order, and they’re not bound to obey it.
It is the Empire State.
Keep reminding me why I hate flatlanders so much.
I suppose they won’t sell laser tag equipment in New York or Connecticut any more, will they? No, because the stuff looks like real guns.

@25, what state are you in?
I live in Illinois. I have yet to hear about anyone losing a gun to confiscation, despite gun control laws in this state. The only guns that the cops get are when people turn them in for cash cards, and they are ALWAYS weapons from the street, i.e., gangs.
The teachers under the NEA and state/local unions and the Dept of “Education” have become ZTZs (Zero Tolerance Zombies).
“Zero Tolerance” = zero intellect and common sense!
Zero Tolerance Zombies(ZTZ)? Love it! Something tells me this is going to boil to the top in other states next.
Holy shit, the idiots have taken over… The extreme over reactions from gun grabbers is going to magnify every difference that there is between generally conservative or even middle of the road citizens and the looney left.
Simple answer, don’t register. I live in the Peoples Republik of Maryland. I spent a long time in states wirh looser gun laws. ‘Nough said.
On a related note, Barreta has said they will move out of the PRM, since some of their product is now banned in this state.

I’m just waiting for some off-duty cop who lives there forgetting to leave his police-issued weapon at work and getting screechingly turned in when he goes to pick up his kid at school.
That would make me happy.
What is this fence people keep talking about. There is no fence. Either you believe in the Constitution or you don’t. Either you believe US citizens have rights or you don’t.
Simply said, if you don’t believe in the affirmative, you believe in the negative.
There is no fence.
@37 The “fence” has been comfortable complacency. We’re so busy going on about our lives, and the laws haven’t been all that onerous or widespread — until the last four months. Then came the avalanche. My point is, there will be people who will cling to the “business as usual” mode for as long as they can, simply because making an effort could be…inconvenient. It’s now time to mentally prepare for what is approaching on a fast horse.
36- I believe cops are exempt from gun-free zones
I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
@40 – This article just makes it worse:

Constitution is for losers who need it to get ahead, comrade… unlike cool state bureaucrats who have ower over lowly peon citizens who should get outta their way in New York State!
