Yeah, I hate hippies, so what’s your point?

| March 22, 2013

Conor Friedersdorf, whoever he is, wrote a piece in the Atlantic about how the anti-war hippies were mistreated by the media during the War Against Hussein’s Iraq and somehow it was about “hatred and resentment”. As someone who spent an inordinate amount of time among the filthy beasts, I think I can testify that they deserved every bit of that “hatred and resentment”.

The first anti-war protest I attended was weeks after the attacks of 9-11. You see the protest had been planned long before the attacks had occurred and what had originally been an anti-Bush protest morphed into an anti-war protest. I wish I still had the pictures of bushy-headed hippie turds waving Soviet and Chinese flags wearing their trendy Che Guevara t-shirts and pushing their Marxist pamphlets on tourists. All of which had something to do with the impending war in Afghanistan.

The article in the Atlantic bemoans the pro-Iraq War crowd calling the hippies “tools”, but it fails to mention that the first pro-Saddam actions was when “human shields” traveled to Iraq ostensibly to protect the Iraqi people, but Hussein used them to shield his military installations and chemical plants. Even those hippies started having second thoughts about their usefulness.

There were few anti-war protests after the one in 2001 until about January 2007 when I went to one in DC. I rode the train with hundreds of union members who were forced to attend the march and pad the ranks. Just like the protesters who made weekly appearances at Walter Reed to reinforce the weak numbers of Code Pinkists and MoveOnists who did their best to harass the returning wounded from the war every Friday night. Yeah, nothing to dislike there, huh?

There was the Mothers’ Day protest, i think it was 2004 or 2003, when I saw several women holding a “Mothers Against the War” banner in front of the White House. I asked them how many were really mothers, two raised their hands, so I asked how many had children in the military – one raised her hand. A little more grilling and she finally admitted that her son had been in the first Gulf War, but not the current war against Hussein. So out of about 15 women holding a “Mothers Against the War” banner, none were actually mothers of soldiers in the Iraq War, and they weren’t shy at all about their obvious deceit.

By the way, the Park Police had to escort me out of Lafayette Park that day because I was surrounded by peace-loving hippies who threatened me and my wife for asking embarrassing questions.

You can thumb through the archives of this blog and see countless examples of the protesters just being assholes and you can tell that the protests were nothing more than recruitment activities for communists and Marxists. That’s how Lenin attracted communists and socialists to the Russian Revolution during the 1st World War by gloming on to the anti-war protests. So, if the Atlantic is trying to rewrite history by claiming that the protesters had something of value to add to the discussion, I’d say the author never set foot among the protesters. They were nothing but anti-Bush protesters and communist recruiters.

I don’t think it is right to call these people “anti-war”.

If they were anti-war, they’d still be protesting.

SJ

One good thing about being in the Pentagon during VN was they would block the entrances. The Pentagon police would tell us just to walk on and over them. That was fun. Only bad thing was we didn’t wear boots then.

Was it on this blog where I read that the way to break up a hippie protest is to throw in a handful of hackysacks? Easily distracted idiots will jump on the liberal cause of the day.

I hate hippies too.

But to be specific, I hate the anti-war hippies that are violent, vulgure and exercise no rules of war or engagement.

I don’t hate peace loving hippies who go about their lives, sprending hope to the vegitables, trees, flowers, and hormone free animals they raise. In fact, those hippies I like … no I love them, because they are like me, they have a sence of direction.

So in review:

Anti-War Hippies – HATE!

Peace Loving Hippies – LOVE and I will see you at the farmers market!

NHSparky

Show me a hippy who had a horrible fate befall them, and I’ll show you a hippy who put themselves in that situation freely and didn’t think twice about the potential consequences beforehand.

Stupidity SHOULD be painful. Sometimes it is, but not often enough.

TSO

That is the same douche that AOSHQ was fighting with on Twitter yesterday regarding his comments about Ms Malkin.

NHSparky

@1-Spade–of course they’re not anti-war. As I pointed out before on another thread, they’re anti-American first, maybe anti-war a distant second.

Conor Friedersdorf was born, raised, and continues to live in California. He is a graduate of the NYU school of journalism. He is a pretender to some self-styled, soft rightishness but his writings say otherwise about him. As for the photo that accompanied the article, I blew it up and saw that it was a crowd of Middle Easterners. I have no idea what the gathering was about I can readily see what it was not. Some pics of an occutard loosing his bowels on a police car would have been more on point.

Even back in my long-haired, stoner, registered Democrat, hate the system days, my friends and I despised hippies. We might not have liked the military but we respected them and didn’t have problems with them doing their jobs.

Twist

Threaten them with a bar of soap.

HAW HAW HAW, poor babies! My dad served during the VN war and when he came home, we greeted him in our home because of the hippies. As kids at the bus stop, we had no idea what to think, we were caught between a rock and a hard place.
We watched every night on the news and it wasn’t good.

It didn’t matter though, we loved our fathers, brothers, best friends and boyfriends who were serving. One day, a homeless vet told a family member who brought him his benefits, that he chose to be homeless because he didn’t trust the Government and he didn’t trust the Americans. He wondered where were the hippies to greet him when the war was over.

My deepest thanks to those who go out of their way to make sure today’s kids don’t have to suffer in the same limbo. Especially the VN Vets. I rejoice and wipe away a small tear, every time I see Brats today, getting to be a part of the celebration for their parents returning. God bless you for that.

MCPO #4: There it is!

Got spit at and called names in ’69 by shithead type hippies. Then spent some time with nubile young female organic farmer type hippies.

Code Pink and their ilk are enough to gag a drunken sailor on liberty in some foreign port… Really!

Twist

My daughter had a school program in the middle of the day so I went to it in uniform. I should have known better since the school district is in a very Liberal area. Turns out that the Principle and half the teachers were hippies in the 60s and hate the Military. My daughter now gets more scrutiny than the other kids and is also ostracized by many of the other kids.

I’ve been to an anti war demonstration. It was the
Gathering of Eagles in Washington D.C. Drove back there from Kansas because Hanoi Jane and Cindy Shehan were going to be there and some organizers claimed they were going to desecrate the Wall. It was cold and windy and I had a great time with vets of all ages.

OWB

Dang! If the media’s complete lack of honest reporting of hippy uprisings since the 60’s has been evidence of their being “mistreated,” then I might actually have to agree with this idiot! Unfortunately, since our perspectives are so radically different, he probably would disagree with me in that I view their “reporting” as a complete whitewash of the facts.

I would offer Kent State as Exhibit A.

(In case anyone missed my point here – yes, I consider coddling those who deserve harsh treatment as mistreatment. At the very least, the media should be bound to report the complete truth because ultimately we all benefit from it.)

“bushy-headed hippie turds waving Soviet and Chinese flags” –

I guess none of those peole watched the things that were done to Chinese citizens during the Tiannanmen Square protests in Beijing, did they? In fact, if you go to Beijing and ask about it, the Chinese military will clamp down on you and may even evict you from China, because it NEVER HAPPENED… except for that famous photo of the little man with shopping bags standing in front of a tank.

The only people who think communism is wonderful are those who don’t live under that kind of regime. Could we just do an airlift of them to Pyongyang?

These protests are nothing like those during the Vietnam War. That was mostly about the draft, and later about things like My Lai. The hippies didn’t really get into it like this. They were more interested in zoning out with weed and protesting civil rights violations. The people who tried to break into the Pentagon were draft-age men and their girlfriends, and people politely called ‘peaceniks’, but the real hippies were in San Francisco protesting whatever took their fancy and hanging out at Haight-Ashbury.

These people staging protests now only want two things: your money and your attention.

So can we just round them up and ship them off to the Norks?

“By the way, the Park Police had to escort me out of Lafayette Park that day because I was surrounded by peace-loving hippies who threatened me and my wife for asking embarrassing questions. ”

These numbnut pieces of crap love peace like an antelope loves a lion…..it’s just subterfuge designed to misdirect the masses until you are unable to resist.

I understand they have a right to protest, and I understand their free speech should be protected. We also have a right to detest them and everything they stand for as they try and ruin this great nation.

Also, why do they always smell like 4ss? Is it really that hard to find a bar of soap?

Debbie

@ 13, Twist

You may want to keep an eye on that. I didn’t tell my dad until a few years ago. When he was in VN, Mom wanted to live in Cali to be as close to him as she could, this meant that I went to a civilian JR High School. No other Brats around. One day three girls slammed me up against a locker, pulled my stockings down and called my dad a baby killer. Like I was taught, I sucked it up and never told anyone. Went to the bathroom, pulled up my stockings and went on the Chem class.

Hondo

Jonn, the Cold War Soviets had a more apropos term for such people than “tools”. They called them “useful idiots”.

@13. It must suck to live in such places. In West (By God)Virginia hippies must register with the Health Department at age 16. Failure to register is a class A misdemeanor (up to a year and $1,000 fine.) Also, VW busses are banned from highways and VW Beetles older than 20 years are too. At the Dept of Motor Vehicles, hippies are issued licenses with a big H on them and no hippie vanity tags are permitted. Lastly, during hunting season (bow, rifle, and black powder), hippies are prohibited from wearing orange or yellow and are encouraged to stroll through the woods, especially at dawn and dusk.

A Proud Infidel

I’m thankful that I live in a Patriotic, civilized corner of the Gulf Coast. It’s full of current, retired, and former Military, and we DON’T like hippies around here! As for those advocating shipping those critters to North Korea, I vote *AYE!*, but I think we need to be careful about it, infesting North Korea with too many of those fleabags too quickly could definitely be considered an act of biological warfare!!

Ex-PH2

@21 – The Norks out in the countryside are starving. I’m sure they could use the meat. After all, these hippies are just cattle and sheep, aren’t they?

Twist

Debbie, I should be able to PCS soon. I’m just in a holding pattern right now because all the Brigade Combat Teams are overstrength on Infantry E-7s. A couple months ago my son came home from school in tears. He had an older kid tell him that his daddy is a killer. I had to sit my 7 year old down and explain to him what I really do because of that. Before that happened in his mind (he told my wife while I was deployed) that I was in Iraq teaching the bad guys to only do good things. Needless to say I went to the school and gave them a piece of my mind. I told them that if anything like that happened again I would buy add space in the newspaper and explain how the school treats veterans and their children.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

Like that hippie Brian Willson Veteran that got in front of a US Navy Ammo train in Concord, CA. He did not walk away from that … he lost his legs.

A_Proud_Infidel

@Ex-PH2, I see it like this:
Two cannibals walked into their village cafe. They looked at the menu on the wall, and it said:
Roast American………$6.95
Baked Frenchman…..$7,50
Steamed Canadian….$7.50
Roasted Hippie……….$23.95

One of the cannibals asked the waiter “Why is the hippie dish so expensive?”. The waiter calmy replied “Have you ever had to clean one of those things?!”.

This reminds me of the (recently noted) phenomenon of leftists pretending that no one spit on returning soldiers after Vietnam. Fortunately, not only is this blog here, but many of the left’s blogs are also archived — outside of their control. What we say, and what they say, will not be forgotten. Friedersdorf’s blindness should not be forgotten either.

Orwell wrote during WWII: “Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help that of the other.”

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

Randy B: Are you from Minn?

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

@ 25 … you can eat better in the PI!

Dog on Stick: 15 pesos
Monkey on Stick: 15 pesos
Mystery Fish on Stick: 15 pesos
Reptile on Stick: 15 pesos
San Miguel to wash it down: 20 pesos

Cannibal joke:

Joe the cannibal asks Bill the cannibal, “Bill why does your hippie only have one leg?”

Bill the cannibal replies, “a hippie that tasty, why eat it all at once!”

2/17 Air Cav

@25. Baked Frenchman…..$7.50 A former acquaintance of mine chose the Frenchamn. Poor bastard. To this day he can’t pass a school crossing guard or a doorman without trying to surrender. That’s not all. His damn nose is stuck in the up position and he salivates like a mad dog when he he sees a Winnebago.

MCPO NYC USN: Nope. Florida.

Formerly USN, though — AX1 (a rating that no longer exists) at VP-44 (which no longer exists either).

MoveOnists? How about MoveOnanists? What a bunch of jackoffs!
