Sheriff’s deputy shoots burglar in his home
The Washington Times reports that an Alexandria, VA Sheriff’s deputy came home after his shift to find at least one burglar in his home in Prince George’s County, MD. After a confrontation, the deputy drilled the criminal in his home. The criminal then ran outside and expired;
The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office did not identify the deputy but said he has been placed on administrative leave pending completion of investigations into the shooting.
County police have not released the identity of the man killed but said they are investigating whether one or more additional suspects may have been on the scene.
Police did not know Wednesday whether the man who was killed was armed but said the deputy shot the man with a gun that was not his service weapon.
Said burglar should have done a better job of casing the joint. But, then with Maryland’s restrictive gun control measures, the odds that the homeowner was unarmed were in his favor. Well, right up to the point where the deputy pointed a gun at him, anyway.
At least that’s one burglar the deputy won’t have to confront on his beat.

Meh, one less punk they’ll have to give three squares, clean clothes, and a bed to!
It’s Maryland. They may charge the deputy with any one of a number of crimes.
Why exactly is he on admin leave for a shooting at his own residence, off duty and with his own firearm? Police are severely overreaching here.
Sounds like the poor man was just engaging in a bit of freelance wealth redistribution. (I mean, why should Obama get to have all the fun?) For that he deserved to die?
RACIST.
Uh Arlington is in VA, not MD. VA has more sensible gun laws.
If any luck, it was the guy that broke into my car. I live within a few miles of this.
Alexandria, not Arlington. Never type and corral kids at the same time.
Apparently, he’s a deputy in Alexandria, but his house is in Fort Washington, MD.
Gotcha Jonn, I’m batting 0 tonight. Yeah, MD does not like guns, and trying to make it harder.
But, but, but, what happened to the philosophy that only cops should have guns?? The nuts now include them in being unable to defend themselves from thugs????
Taking this train of thought to it’s logical conclusion, are the cops in MD not supposed to defend themselves when wearing a uniform as well?
#2 Spot on: O’Malley’s Maryland is a safe haven for murderers. Law-abiding citizens and guns are thoroughly discouraged from living there. Betting the sheriff’s deputy pulls a few years in state prison.
Good fucking shooting!
Don’t be suprized if ” The Peoples Republik of Maryland ” does find something to pin on this Deputy.
That it happened in Prince George County is no suprize at all, as it has the highest crime place in all of Maryland.
The police there (PGCP) are under constant Federal Scrutiny, most of time for nothing, but once in a while for major corruption and heavy handed tactics.
The fiance started her career there, before going to the State Police.
Glad i live near Thurmont and not in the Beltway Jungle.
Now that’s what I call ‘gun control’, in this day and age of home invasion violence is the only method to employ against intruders – good shooting!
@4 I’m really glad I had finished my tea, else I’d be wiping it off the screen.
This link has a bit more detail, to include the name of the recently departed. Be sure to read the comments. As usual, the resident bleeding heart liberal, Empowered, has to chime in with her worthless opinion.

I did read the comments. Most of them supported the deputy, exceptions being those who think you should curl up and whimper “Please (don’t) hurt me”.
Kudos to the deputy.
