Another Comes Home
PFC James Hare went overseas in 1949. Not long afterwards he ended up in Korea.
He was captured. He died in a POW camp, and was buried in a mass grave.
His remains were in a group of 450 sets of remains returned by North Korea in the early 1990s. It took a while, but PFC Hare’s remains were finally positively identified.
PFC Hare will be laid to rest today near Cumberland, MD.
Rest in peace, my elder brother-in-arms. Rest in peace.

Welcome home, brother. Thanks for posting these, Hondo, it really makes me remember the price that’s been paid .
LanceCooley: don’t mind doing it. Everyone who gives their all in this nation’s service should get a proper burial.
Even if that burial is six plus decades after the fact, it’s still something that they deserve. We owe them that.
Welcome home, at long last, brother.
According to an article I read regarding PFC Hare, he was reported MIA on this very date, 13 February. He was later listed as a POW and reportedly died of starvation in a North Korean camp during April 1952.
They are never gone who are remembered.
Welcome home, soldier. Rest in Peace, in your homeland.
Welcome home, PFC Hare.
Welcome Home, Soldier. Enjoy Heaven, you’ve done your time in hell.
