H.J.Res. 15; To repeal the 22nd Amendment

| January 6, 2013

RaptorFire22 and ROS send us a link to GovTrack about House Resolution “H.J.Res. 15” “Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.”

22d amendment

22d amendment2

This is such a good idea. Of course, it has no co-sponsors and 0% chance of passing, but let’s just look like fawning imbeciles. I wonder if Salazar wrote his resolution while he was under the Oval Office desk. The text isn’t available yet according to the link.

That pesky Constitution is always getting in the way of Democrats.

Even if it doesn’t have a snowball’s chance, this is still scary stuff. Lately I’ve felt as if I’m living in a History lecture.

Consitutional Amendments need a 2/3 majority to pass each house of Congress, so this has exactly zero chance of passing. In fact, it couldn’t have even passed in 2009-2010 when Democrats had majorities in each house.

Something is amiss. Senor Bronx introduced HJR 17 on January 7, 2011, according to his web page. Muy loco.

Sorry. I thought the resolutions were the same number. They are not–one is 15, the other 17– but they both call for the repeal of the 22nd Amendment. So, he has been at this for a while. Knucklehead.

The Dead Man

Didn’t I read this book already? I’ll need to go through my Heinlein collection.

Passable or not, it’s a bit disturbing seeing this pop up.

Jerry

Yeah, this will last up until someone he doesn’t like gets elected. Then he’ll want to re-enact the 22nd amendment.

Joe Williams

Not only NO but HELL NO.

Bam Bam

I’m more for what Franklin said about former presidents having to leave the country after they complete their terms. Sure wouldn’t have missed Carter all year years after his… Leadership.

FltMedic

Can we grab these people and pull them by the scruffs of there tiny little necks into the town square for a massive flogging?

Not sure if it would help cure there special kinda stupid, but I’m sure it would make me feel better.

Suuuure. Let’s just go the way of all the other world wide countries and historical figures that Libtards admire so much:
The USofA under FDR
Communist Russia – Stalin, Lennin, etc
Post Communist Russia under Putin
Communist China – Mao, etc
NAZI Germany under Adolf
Cuba under the Castro brothers
(and the most current)
Venizuala under Hugo Chavaz

What could POSSIBLY go wrong by repealing the 22nd?? /sarc off

I would say ship ’em off to live in Cuba since they revere its “socialist” culture so much but, they would probably follow the lead of Cuban’s whom have left on their own or been refugee boated out by Castro and return to the evil United States of America.

Well, golly! We’re getting sooo like Europe. Nineteenth century Europe, that is.

Common Sense

No worries, when the time comes, Obama will just issue yet another Executive Order waiving the amendment while Congress sits on their duffs and cries.

Ex-PH2

Oh, come on, guys. The same thing happened when Reagan was in office – – take off the term limits amendment. There was a reason for passing it and getting if ratified while when FDR died. We do not live in a dynastic society, no matter how much the media drools over the Kennedys and the Brit monarcsh. No one in their right (meaning SANE) mind wants any head of state to have a lifetime presidency. We ditched the Brits because it leads to exactly what the 13 colonies got rid of — no say in your own government.

Look how pissed off Putin is in Russia because the Russian Federation imposed a 3-term limit on the head of state. The Romans started assassinating their own leaders when Julius Caesar declared himself Imperatore.

You have to have some way to get rid of bastard-in-office, no matter who it is.

This is pretty serous stuff. I don’t think Serrano
would do anything like this without the knowledge
of Obama. If it was any other president I don’t think
it would be happening.

ConcernedCitizen

Serrano’s introduced the bill every two years since 1997. This is the seventh time.

Just Plain Jason

Honestly, I think that every time some asshole congressman puts up a jackass of a bill like this we need to hold them accountable. It doesn’t matter if it gets out of committee or not, but maybe if we start looking closer into what is going on we can get idiots like this to stop with their stupidity. Maybe Serrano will stop with the dumbassery when someone says hey jackass stop it.

Now in this congress Kevin Yoder and Lynn Jenkins have put forth H.R. 150 and !51 which would cut congressional pay by 5%, stop Cost of living increases, and end retirement benefits except thrift savings plans. How about we call some congressmen to get behind those.

Roger in Republic

Yes, I remember when repeal was tossed about during Reagan’s second term. No bill was proposed, only talked about. The Libtards went absolutely batshit crazy. As far as dumbasses like Serrano, maybe we should talk about term limits on congress, or at least physc evals. If we are going to amend the constitution at least the amendment should benefit THE PEOPLE.

I thought this was the United States of America not the Soviet Union of America. Please adher to the Constitution and its amendments and the Declaration of Independence and other documents that founded this country and also restore laissez-faire capitalism w/ some regulations to protect children.

USMCE8Ret

I’m all for establishing term limits for Senators and Congressfolk, but getting such legislation across the floor would never happen because they’d recognize it for being a measure to put them on the street and without a job. Sadly, elected officials end up being like that certain employee you can never get rid of.
