In Honor of Doomsday Tomorrow . . . .

| December 20, 2012

I wonder how popular the original version of this song will be tonight and tomorrow?

That’s great, world’s end December date, feathered  snake looks so damn great
True believers not afraid
Date from a Mayan Rock, took years to learn their talk
World doesn’t give a care, dummy don’t be so scared.
No it’s not just BS, grunt
No strength the ladder starts to clatter with the fear, jump from heights.
Won’t end in fire, or stuck in the mire seven miles from a government for hire and Obamacare
Turn Left bow down it’s coming in a hurry furies breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters bored, tramp tramp show their scorn.
Look at that dumbass shaking! Oh well
Uh oh, overflow, no space in the safety zone but it’ll do.
Save yourself, leave yourself.
World serves its own needs, does that make your heart bleed?
No this ain’t the rapture and the reverend  ain’t right – right.
You idiotic, vitriolic, fool who’s not real bright,
Feeling pretty psyched.

It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it.
It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it.
It’s the end of some squirrels and they know it,

And I dont’ mind.

Yeah, not one of my better efforts. Makes as much sense as the original, though.

I understand France has started blocking access zone to the “safety zone” at Pic de Bugarach because of an excess of gullible idiots. At least the French are getting this one right.

All the “true believers” are going to be really pissed when they find out that tiny missing fragment right at the end of the stone translated as “rinse and repeat”.  (smile)

PS:  Don’t like the above?  Bite me, Stipe.  It’s called parody.

(Author’s note:  edited to provide IMO a more apropos chorus.)

LOL- I was thinking that Obamabots theme song was R.E.M.’s “The End of the World as we know it” anyways..

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Man, I wish I knew someone who truly believes it all ends tomorrow. I’d at least ask for their flatscreen.

2-17 Air Cav

Gaaaaad Damit.

Ex-PH2

Some let me know when the end of the world ends, okay?

I’ve got lots of stuff to do this weekend. I might miss it.

Ex-PH2

Do you think if the world doesn’t end tomorrow, the people who were waiting for it will be disapppointed?

2-17 Air Cav

@5. Only if they gave all their stuff away.

melle1228

I just wish I knew for sure. I have three college papers that I don’t want to write if the world is endig. 🙂

2-17 Air Cav

@7. Melle: Just to be safe, see if you can get an extension to the afterlife.

Virtual Insanity

I’ll be pissed if I burned a day of leave tomorrow and didn’t have to.

PintoNag

Well, I’m sure not starting a diet now! 🙂

I told my friends, jokingly of course, that I’m not doing any Christmas shopping till the 22nd…just in case.

In actuality, I finished the last bits of shopping last night.

AW1 Tim

Eff ’em all. I’m not leaving until I finish the last of my Tequila Blanco. I’ve got fresh limes and it’s good sippin’ stuff.

The frikkin doomsday folks will just have to wait.

nucnipe

World can’t end til I finish smacking around an asshat in the comments section of my local paper. 20 years as a nuc machinist mate and he says I don’t know anything about marine propulsion( cuz he’s a member of the state ferry workers union).

Ex-PH2

I have a cheese ball, some spreadable soft cheese with garlic and herbs, olive oil/pepper crackers, ham, popcorn, olives stuffed with garlic, a fresh pack of Roma tomatoes and a few bottles of wine.

Bring on the end of the world!

@13, I’d offer to meet him face to face some place public and explain it to him.

nucnipe

Ex-PH2: Naw I’m having way too much fun busting his sense of superiority, now he is doing the ol ” Thats not the argument I was trying to make” ploy.

nucnipe

And tonight I’ve got a bottle of Makers Mark, a six pack of Coke, and the start of a 5 day holiday weekend. Let the games begin!

Ex-PH2

Nucnipe, are you sure that he isn’t Insipid?

nucnipe

Could be, same lame attempts at debate and if you don’t agree with him your a stupid poopyhead. Course that seems to be standard liberal debating technique

Dirty Al the Infidel

Well its now doomsday. Man, I’m soooooo hosed, I spent all my wife’s paycheck paying off bills. I didn’t want to go out being a deadbeat. So now I’m just a shitethead.

Dirty Al the Infidel

….And my paycheck will go to making up for it.

NHSparky

Blowing like a sumbitch in New England, but still here, for now.

NHSparky

@13 nucsnipe–You want some help? (G) I bet even a dumbass twink RO like me might be able to “ejumicate” him a little bit, considering half the people where I work are ex-nukes, and the other half are from either Mass Maritime or Maine Maritime College.

Nik

A friend of mine in Indiana said “Woke up to find a whole bunch of schools west of us are closed due to power outage. Guessing a few people out that way are freaking out.”

Nik

@29

Thanks! I needed some hope!

Ex-PH2

It’s 8AM, the snowstorm left 1/4 inch of snow on my lawn and the sun is coming out.

I’m good to go.

Detn8r

Its a little after 10 Am here in the mountains of WV, I’m listening to Celtic music on You Tube and realized that I still have to get my wife a Christmas Present! Damn Mayans anyway!

Ex-PH2

Well, Doomsday has come and gone. I’m still here, as I expected to be, as is everyone else who reads this. The events of a week ago were startling and frightening and generated enormous waves of emotion in many, many people who felt that loss in some way — it could have been me or you –when they were not involved in it, at all. No one wants these kinds of things to happen. They shouldn’t happen. But they do. Why do they happen? Why is one person so angry that he seeks a captive audience to release it? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t understand it because I don’t do things like that. I don’t have an answer to the why or even how to stop it. It’s happened before and will happen again. Maybe it’s only a matter of paying attention, listening to our instincts that tell us something is wrong. We’re in a period of change. Change is an uncomfortable thing. It takes away the familiar. It sets us on an unknown path, with no road map to follow. It’s scary, and it hurts and we have no control over it. I found an article on the changes going on now. Part of it is worth a read. “Change is inevitable but our reaction and role in it are not. Imagine that a part of your world is ending on December 21, but instead of losing your home, your loved ones, your job or your health, that you get to choose what ends. What behavior, relationship, belief, attitude or habit would you like to eliminate? Change the image of change from something that is negative and beyond your control to a positive one where you select the target and direct the process. I’ve often written about the value of getting ahead of emotional waves to ride their immense energy instead of ignoring them and being smashed to the ground. Events will continue to churn the atmosphere well into 2015. Change is coming whether we want it to or not. And the mass of minds around… Read more »
