Taliban shoot 14-year-old peace activist
CH sends us a link to an NBC News story about the Taliban’s attempt to assassinate a 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was critical of them for threatening her and her classmates for attending school;
Malala was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize in 2011 for a blog she wrote under a pseudonym for the BBC. She also won the National Peace Prize in Pakistan, was honored with a school named after her, and quickly became an outspoken critic of the Taliban in Pakistan and public advocate for peace.
In the blog, she chronicled life in the Swat Valley under the brutal and oppressive rule of the local faction of the Pakistani Taliban, who carried out public floggings, hung dead bodies in the streets, and banned education for girls.
In early 2011, the militants had added Malala to their hit list. “We wanted to kill her as she was pro-West, she was speaking against Taliban and more important she was calling President Obama as her ideal. She was young but was promoting a Western culture in the Pakhtun populated areas,” Ihsanullah Ihsan, the spokesman of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP said.
Good for them, attempting to murder a young unarmed girl in the street in front of her school and her classmates. You guys just exude machismo. Anything else you want to do to draw the world closer to your side, like eating live kittens or something? How insecure are they that they consider a teen-age girl a threat and spend a year planning her murder?
So I’m sitting here holding my breath waiting for Code Pink to condemn this barbaric act. OK, maybe not holding my breath, but I’m still waiting.

I had to take a break before I could read the article.
But, but, but-Christian extremists! But, but, but idiotic equivalency! But, but, but oh look over there-shiny!
Our enemies are often contemptible and we are right to point it out, but this is not helpful to the left’s objective of transforming the west which they advance by magnifying the slightest fault into a fatal flaw. Publish this on almost any message board and what I wrote above is an almost inevitable reply. This is also the reason that stuff like this is almost totally ignored by the agenda driven media.
Here’s a link to it, which includes the link to her blog. She writes that she hopes that either the U.S. or China will show up to put a stop to the Taliban.
Real brave, aren’t they? But what else should we expect?

Hmm-there was supposed to be some phony HTML in my last post-so just insert “start lefty” before the first paragraph and “end lefty” after it.
Someday we will perhaps, actually begin to believe it when someone tells us they want us dead for disparaging their little prophet and his mountain of godliness….when dissent is punishable by death to children, your god is probably the devil in disguise….
Remember…drones turn Talibunnies into fine red mist who would otherwise kill little girls. Code Pinkos think drones are bad. Ergo…
Assuming it is there, you guys hold in your rage far better than I
When the Empty Suit finishes screwing it up over there… you can be this girl and others like her will be slaughtered. And then what?
@8 It will be just another tragedy that no one in America really cares about.
You can already hear the headlines right? “Girl shot by Taliban for opinions, woman stoned to death for showing her face, man beheaded for adultery”
….nothing new there and oh so tragic, but that’s their country what can we do?
Just like it was before 9-11-01. /sarc
That was a tough read.
Brave kid.
You won’t hear from Code Pink, because they don’t want the same thing to happen to them. Code Pink doesn’t want to actually STAND for anything; they just want attention — and this isn’t the kind of attention they’re after.
This doesn’t appear to be about religion anymore, if it ever was. This is more like what’s happening among the drug cartels: this appears to be about power, and nothing more. Anybody who threatens the Taliban powerbase, dies. Violently. I just hope the people of that region finally wake up to what they’re actually dealing with: Criminals, plain and simple.
“How many grown men with guns does it take to terrify a little girl?”
Actually that question was asked by my father-in-law in Cuba when his house was raided by submachine wielding pussies as they screamed at my future wife.
Guess pussy-hood has spread to the holy warriors of Pakistan.
Waiting for NOW and CAIR to rise up and denounce this horrendous crime against women and girls.
Waiting.
Waiting.
@11- PN, it has never been about anything else.
@13 It is the greatest mistake to say that there are no True Believers in any belief system. But there are also always the parroting opportunists…they toe the ‘party line’ for the benefits and advantages of the system they support, without necessarily believing its teachings. I think we’ve probably knocked off quite a few of the “true believers.” What we have left to deal with are the criminal element — the opportunists. My concern is that the local populations seem either too ignorant / innocent to understand the shift.

Hope you’re not holding your breath while waiting.
