Allen West’s campaign commercials

| September 29, 2012

Poetrooper sends us link to the latest Allen West commercials;

I almost wish I lived in Florida just to vote for him.

And this is how the Murphy campaign responds in the Palm Beach Post;

Murphy’s campaign responded by bringing up the 2003 incident in Iraq in which then-Lt. Col. West fired a gun near the head of an Iraqi detainee during an interrogation. Military prosecutors charged West with assault and he potentially faced 11 years in prison and dishonorable discharge. After a military hearing, he was fined $5,000 and allowed to retire as a lieutenant colonel with a full pension.

“Allen West is shamelessly attacking Patrick Murphy for a mistake he made as a teenager, which he has discussed at length in the media as a mistake he learned from. West then goes on to discuss his tenure in the military in 2003 while failing to acknowledge that he was criminally charged that year for assault and violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice,” said Murphy for Congress communications director Erin Moffet. “The only reason he was able to escape prosecution is because he cut a deal to retire. Unfortunately, West’s unstable behavior has continued in Congress, and he continues to diminish the office and the people to which he serves.”

Oh, I see, Murphy avoiding prosecution for his crimes nine years ago are different from West avoiding prosecution. That makes perfect sense. To a pretty-boy spoiled brat who avoided military service, I guess.

Jonn, there is a BIG difference between a bar fight and firing a gun near someone’s head to get them to talk.

However, if this is the incident I’m remembering, he got intel that saved soldiers’ lives so screw this Murphy guy. Now, on the other hand, if it was that choad in the 173rd…

ROs

Love that man.

Bucky Katt

Kick a$$ ad. Just wish Romney would come up with ads as hard hitting as this one, the material to do it is out there,

OWB

You go, COL West! He is exactly what we need in leadership in DC. And as president one day.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I am hoping that West’s political career continues to evolve, and that he can gain the capital and backing to make a run at the Presidency some day. I like a no bullsh1t
“here is how it is folks” guy, so far Congressman (Col) West seems like that guy to me.

John Miska

I Know Col. West…I would vote for him . I would offer to help him carry that gas can as well!!!!

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

I will state the obvious.

Anyone can get into a bar fight. No courage involved there. A few beers, you think you can take on the world …

Now putting a gun to the enemies head, explaining the options at hand (for the enemy), with full knowledge of the possible outcomes from such a maneuver (for the Lt COL) … no that takes courage and conviction.

In the final analysis … bar fight – BAD … putting gun to ememies head – GOOD.

Look at wikipedia’s list of minority-majority districts and one thing stands out (at least to me): the black Republicans come from districts with relatively few black constituents. At least to me this seems to suggest that Republicans are willing to vote for whatever candidate that they agree with regardless of race (and I think that when Mia Love wins in Utah this will strengthen the point). West’s district is only 7.4% black and Tim Scott comes from a district that is less than 20% black-both districts are from the allegedly more racist south (I am a North Carolinian FWIW).

Murphy was only a teenager. 13? 14? 15? 16? 17? 18? No, he was 19! How many men of that age did West command? Murphy needs his ass kicked just for looking sideways at West.

OWB

Just one opinion here, but Murphy has showed us nothing which suggests that he is worthy of carrying West’s luggage much less competing with him in any arena on any day.

Will the children please go sit down? And please remain quiet while the adults get this country sorted out and functioning properly again.

2-17 AirCav

Col. West has a great many lefties worried. And worry they should. Personally, I think any job in which Col. West has colleagues such as Nutcase Wasserman-Schultz is a job well beneath him. The powers first tried to get rid of the colonel by redrawing his district, making it more heavily Dem. So he just ambled over to another district. Soros money is in against him. Clinton has campaigned against him. The DNC is pouring money in to see him beaten. You know he’s a threat to something when so many lefties oppose him. It isn’t just his House seat.

Rock8

Christie / West ticket for 2016.

Common Sense

I love that man. He was my pick for Romney’s VP, he would have brought a lot to the table that Romney is missing in his resume.

The fact that he would have made Libs heads spin around on their necks would have been a bonus!

LIRight

This “controversy” isn’t even a close call. West will be POTUS one day…..soon, I hope.

#12 Rock8 – I respectfully disagree – I think we’ll learn as time goes on that Christie is far more liberal than currently believed. Yes, he’s got balls and bluster, but from what I’ve seen he’s too similar to John McCain and Lindsay Graham.

Rock8

@LIRight: my political tastes are moderate. I believe in leadership and they both got the right stuff. I’m a blue-collar UNION man (trades) and a GWOT vet. So I cringe when the Republicans try to dismantle the unions and I cringe when the SEIU drives off of the Left’s ideological cliff. I see a lot of good coming out of governing from the middle. But I do mean governing & leading from the middle, NOT getting stuck and doing nothing in the middle.

LIRight

@Rock8

Here’s the difference between us and them…..I respect your views and while mine may differ slightly, as the saying goes – I’ll defend to the death your right to say it!

Ex-PH2

LIRight, would you rather have Bo in the WH or Christie?

Right now, we’re in a culture of fluff and voyeurism. We are currently suffering the effects of a lazy, detached, and slacker fluffpot presidency. The shine wore off some time back, didn’t it? Substance will some day raise its head again, maybe around the time Peter King and the others on his committee get Susan Rice to resign her position and they get their investigation going.

Or maybe we’ll have to put up with another four years of fluff and voyeurism, just to see what happens.

LIRight

@17 Ex-PH2 “LIRight, would you rather have Bo in the WH or Christie?” Not even a close call.

I would have preferred McCain over BO in 2008 and to be honest, Romney was not my first choice for 2012….but he is the nominee and as such I back him to the hilt.

Futhermore, I’d vote for Christie if he were to win the nomination sometime in the future….he’s far from fluff like the fluffer in chief currently occupying the White House.

MotherGoos3

@Rock8 – Christie has shown himself to be a competent public sector union buster, but that’s about all he has in his arsenal. He has an irksome habit of snuggling up with the Islamists…we’ve all seen the results of THAT tendency.

NHSparky

Not to mention he’s damn near as anti-gun as Bloomberg, which for me makes Christie a no-go.

idaho2run

LTC West is well thought of and admired. Yeah I know he was retired, but he is one of the best combat leaders I have ever heard of.
His actions were calculated risks, which produced the desired outcome, which is saving his troops lives.
The poor little goat humping insurgent was never in any real danger, other that crapping himself.
Can’t remember how many times I have been nearby when some idiot that can’t remember how to clear a live weapon in the barrel, has a negligent discharge.
His men at the time of that incident, are almost all overwhelmingly devoted and in awe of LTC West, except for the whiny little weasel that had to tattle.
Leaders do what it takes to save lives and accomplish missions, even if it means going to extremes within reason.
Deal with it Murphy. You are not fit to breathe the same air as LTC West.

LIRight

@2 1idaho2run

I’m with you on every point you make, except I believe that West reported the “incident” to his CO himself.

Could be wrong, but that’s my recollection.

ROS

I would NEVER put LTC West under Christie. He’s earned a helluva lot more respect and is exponentially more qualified than that.

Anonymous

@23: Yeah, I would never put West under Christie either, lest he may be crushed from the weight. Seriously though, West and Christie running is the Democratic Party’s wer dream (yes, Yay Lil’ Jonn, it’s “Democratic” and not “Democrat”, you McCarthyite pot-stirrer. Lilyea, you seem to be just like West and Christie: a bully.

Anonymous

Wet dream, by the way. I wouldn’t want to confuse the mouth-breathing Republiscum that visits this page. God forbid somebody ever have a liberal leaning bone in their body, right? I guess all the military members who will vote for President Obama (and yes, Ex-PH2 and others, he’s the fucking president so it may be nice for you to at least make yourselves appear intelligent by giving respect to the office) are just wasting votes.

UpNorth

Hey, look. Somebody’s mom left her computer on, and a middle schooler decided to venture here and use swear words. Ooooh, impressive.
And, is “a lazy, detached, and slacker fluffpot presidency” what got your panties in a twist. You ought to visit some of the other threads where people tell you what they REALLY think of the fluffpot.

NHSparky

Anon–you still got that t-shirt of “Chimpy McCokespoon” with the caption, “Not My President” gathering dust in your drawer, sonny?

Sit in the corner and try to listen more and talk less when the adults are talking.

LIRight

@Anonymous or more acurrately, anony-mouse.

How is to live a false life wherein you try to fool some of us into thinking that you have some balls….then we find out that you are a self flagellating eunuch? Did it hurt, or did it turn you on?

I hear cat litter is on sale – go buy a ton for you and you like minded minions.

ROS

@24 “Yay Lil’ Jonn” is your idea of wit? Obama, please.

Joe

Allen West is such a wingnut he has become a parody of what a wingnut is.

NHSparky

So says the guy who even the denizens of SW Colorado call moonbat.

Virtual Insanity

Joe,

A proven combat leader, willing to make and own up to difficult decisions = wingnut?

WAIT! WAIT! Allen West is BLACK! You’re a RACIST!!

NHSparky

And Joe…reach down between your coveralls in between wringing your mop out cleaning up after the first graders.

You feel that? Exactly. What you don’t feel in all that fur you’re grabbing is called BALLS. Something LTC West showed and used every day of his life and what will never drop for you, no matter how much wishing or surgery you can manage.

You may go now.

Anonymous

Maybe I’ll change my mind about West. Gun to my head, I may vote for him, something West is familiar with. Although, just like the information received from his incident, my vote wouldn’t mean anything.

NHSparky

According to the AAR and his troops, you’d be wrong yet again anon.

Hondo

Ah, ya gotta love the “live ones” from the left coast . . . .

2-17 AirCav

@34: Or–

Maybe I’ll change my mind about obama. Gun to my head, I may vote for him, something the New Black Panther Party is familiar with. Although, just like the information received from his incident, my vote wouldn’t mean anything.

Nik

Let’s see. West’s actions probably saved lives. He inspired 2k emails of support. A letter was sent to the Secretary of the Army with 95 congressmen supporting him.

How does Mr Murphy’s drunken, underage brawl stack up to that?
