Doubling Down on “Teh Clueless” About the Military
Remember the recent controversy over naval photos at the Democratic National Convention? You know, where they used file photos of Soviet Navy ships during a speech purporting to show support for US armed forces?
Well, it appears as if they doubled down, most likely inadvertently, on “teh clueless” when it comes to the military. Because in the same speech, they apparently also used photos of the Turkish Air Force’s precision flying team – instead of photos of USAF or USN aircraft.
Geez. Are they so strapped for funds they can’t even find someone competent to procure file footage? Or do they just not give a damn?

They blamed a vendor for the “mistake.”

Correct answer: Just don’t give a damn.
LL: And that matters how, precisely? The DNC – not the vendor – chose to use them without vetting them.
I’d guess the same claim will be made for the use of Turkish Air Force images. And it’s just as bogus.
I guess that most attendees of the DNC were too tragically hip to notice. Or care, for that matter.
As you said in the title, “Clueless”, through ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance can be repaired (if you’re willing). But, as Ron White sez, “You can’t fix stupid.”
Going with don’t care here, with emphasis on being tickled pink when the error is discovered because they so enjoy causing pain to honorable folks.
I’m afraid I have to disagree. They do care very much.
They just like those ships and planes better than ours.
Remember these are the same people who say “Ak47’s are bad and no one needs them” but if you put a rigged out .22 next to a .338 lapua without any fancy optic they’ll say the .22 is an assault weapon.
What’s the big deal? It’s all army stuff, isn’t it?[/sarc]
The upcoming election is spooky.
Did the Libertarian’s field a canidate?
Weren’t the planes built in the U.S.? So that counts, just like the napalm pic from Vietnam.
Green–Gary Johnson. Dropped out of the GOP presidential race and jumped on the Libertarian bandwagon just like his nutty uncle Ron Paul. How’s that for spooky?
Frankly, coming from a bunch of people who boo any mention of the word God in their platform, and who then have their desires overridden by the party appartchik just to make them look even that much stupider, nothing really surprises me.
The MSM totally ignoring this, well, because its Democrats involved. Also the press is in full protection mode for Obama now – nothing to see here.
I wonder if it wasn’t some sort of attempt at a “daring”, “ironic”, and “transgressive” by some politically correct aaahtsy faaahtsy graphic designer about the need for the Democratic party to overtly support what they despise as a bunch of blood thirsty baby killers?
Had they used the Nazi Kreigsmarine, it would have been too overt, so they went for the Soviet navy instead.
The Turkish planes is just because they are idiots.
The thing is, fact-checking these images is a really simple thing to do, and wouldn’t take much time at all. Pretty much send them with a staffer to the nearest Navy recruiting station, if you need to, or just email them to the Navy PAO. Google is your friend here.
But, if they can’t be bothered to fact check something as simple as the background images, what ELSE might they not be bothering with?
See, here’s the thing for me. It’s not JUST the images, but that someone, somewhere, holds the copyright for those images. Did they obtain permission to use them? It’s also pretty simple to vet the copyright/fair use claims.
Was any reimbursement made for the use of those images? For a political party that claims to be on the side of the little guy, they seem to be pretty cavalier with their attitude towards royalties and copyrights.
It would have been hilarious if someone had put this image in at the last possible second:
…rather than a line of Russian warships.
Oh crud. The image didn’t show up. Here’s the link instead:

Doesn’t this basically affirm what everyone already knows; that to Democrats, the military are window dressing. A prop. Something to be paraded around and then “put back in its proper place” once they win. Or better yet, used for good causes…you know, forced to wear little blue helmets and hand out teddy bears and MREs to people who need them…that kind of shit. One plane or boat or gun-clip-thingy is just as good as another, right?
Sometimes I think they do things just to see if we’re still paying attention. They don’t care…but they know that we do. They’re waiting for that to change.
@PintoNag….too sadly logical. Great observation.
As someone in northen Virginia said “It’s not whether you’re paranoid – it’s whether you’re paranoid enough.”
..or more to the point, “Just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.”
If they really are out to get you – you’re not paranoid.
