Diliberto speaks

| September 6, 2012

Our champion of this year’s Stolen Valor Tournament, Jake Diliberto, decided to finally answer us this morning. I kept him apprised of his standing throughout the tournament, cuz, ya know, he’s busy trying to get some TV appearances, and he didn’t bother to answer until today. He sent us proof that he was in Iraq and because I’m a fair guy here’s his evidence;

You can tell that’s him, right? And you can tell it’s Iraq, right? So obviously, we were wrong, if we lived in some dimension where only Iraq looks like that. If you’re like me, that’s probably not enough proof for you so here he “sets the record straight”. Mostly it’s “because I said so”. Yeah there’s no real proof that he was ever in Iraq. And he admits he never set foot in Afghanistan.

But, Jake assures us that he’s adjusted his biography in several places to reflect these changes.

No explanation as to why his records only reflect service in Kuwait. And in his narrative, he says George Bush jerked him out of Force Recon training to participate in that misdirected war. But he doesn’t bother to explain why he was overheard telling his mother that he is Force Recon and why he was caught by his squad leader wearing the T-shirt on leave years before the Iraq War began. He admits that he didn’t go to Afghanistan, but he neglects to mention that it was because his leaders didn’t want to be saddled with his buffoonery. Instead, he implies that he was needed to train SEALs with his vast experience of pulling guard in Pakistan.

So there you go, Jake, I told your story for you. Anything else I can do, please let me know.

TSO Adds: Now that Jake has entered his “Truth Telling Catharsis Phase” how about we tease out some answers to the burning questions, like:

Ya know….I was wrong voting for the cock inhaler, this guy deserved to win, hands down.

Anonymous

Hell, that could just as easily be Kuwait…..or NTC.

NHSparky

Wow…does not display 2.5 level of knowledge. Does not recognize correct answer when given to him.

No mercy.

OWB

Aw, gee. Wanna see some pics of me in a desert which also don’t prove I was in Iraq? (Which I wasn’t. Close, but this isn’t horsehoes.)

Hondo

Interesting. I just went to Dildoberto’s site. It showed “One response to Setting the Record Straight” – but it wasn’t TSO’s comment. It was a different comment, posted a few minutes later; I “screen captured” it. I’ll check back in a few to see if it’s still there.

Hondo

Very interesting. Just went back, and TSO’s original comment is indeed gone – but another, later comment from TSO is there in it’s place.

It’s also interesting to note that Dildo-man’s FOIA shows his separation date to be 30 May 2004. He states he “saw his friend Jeff die”, by context implying that happened while Diliberto was still serving on active duty in the USMC. That would be difficult, as Diliberto wasn’t on active duty in 2005.

“Setting the record straight: I served as a US Marine, and got out on an honorable discharge.”

That line, the first of Dilbert’s record-straightening explanation, stopped me cold. It’s not that he can’t write well, which he clearly cannot. That’s never been a prerequisite for honorable service. What got me was the turn of phrase, “ …[I] got out on…” That is not the language of someone who is proud of his service. It’s the language of someone released from jail or prison.

Twist

That sure looks like Kuwait to me. I could post pictures from the 2 weeks I spent in Kuwait waiting to go North and claim it was Iraq. I highly doubt it is NTC since the don’t (at least when I rotated through there) us children as COBs.

2-17 AirCav

You know, if he keeps this up, he might be renominated and become the first two-time winner of The Jesse.

Steadfast&Loyal

@8 yeah I wanted to call it NTC as well and looked hard to terrain features. But the kids give it away. You are right that NTC doesn’t use kids…at least not in the box.

It’s clearly overseas….somewhere. As to whether that’s our reigning champion? No idea. I never went to Iraq but I find it odd that he wouldn’t post an iconic picture. Whenever I see Iraq veteran photos there is always one of them in a palace, or sleeping in some posh room that is out of the ordinary. Holding money with Saddam’s face, or by propaganda posters, statues….Or around other local “tourist sights”.

Twist

@10 I don’t know of any Iraq vet that doesn’t have plenty of pictures that you can clearly identify as being in Iraq. Heck I still have plenty of them even after the external hard drive I had them saved on went 10 toes up. I agree with you, If I wanted to prove that I was in Iraq I would use a picture of me standing in front of the crossed sabers or something easily identifiable.

JAGC

I have some good pics that easily identify myself in Iraq. However, last time I communicated with Jonn and TSO, I did not send these pictures when validating my military claims. I instead sent, you know, a document officially memorializing my service in Iraq (I think it was a CAB).

Twist

Does the Marines have their own version of the Iraqi Campain Medal? Orders for that would clear things up PDQ. I don’t know about the Marines but my ERB clearly states IZ as and overseas deployment along with how many months I was there.

BohicaTwentyTwo

I like how he says “my unit” went into Iraq, not “I” went into Iraq.

martinjmpr

The funny thing about that pic is that before I even read down the article I thought “that looks a lot like Kuwait.” I spent virtually all of 2004 in Kuwait so I pretty much know what the whole ugly country looks like. I went to Iraq (Tallil AB) for a total of about 2 hours and it was much, much greener than Kuwait, with actual trees and even some grass.

martinjmpr

Having said the above, Tallil is the only part of Iraq I ever saw, so I don’t know whether Iraq looks like that or not. I just know for a fact that Kuwait DOES look like that. A LOT.

Green Thumb

Dildo-berto can go to hell.

Also, someone challange him respond to these questions in an interview, on camera or in front of his boss(es)…

Twist: All services use the same ICM. However, Diliberto’s service predates establishment of same, so he’d have received the GWOTEM instead of the ICM – had he actually served in Iraq.

However, his records show he didn’t. His service in Kuwait is identified on the redacted DD214 provided by the USMC as part of his FOIA. That redacted DD214 indicates “Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Kuwait)”. If he’d served in Iraq, it should indicated either (Iraq) or both (Iraq/Kuwait) – so it’s a lock his unit was deployed to Kuwait vice Iraq. He’d need missions into Iraq on 30 consecutive/60 nonconsecutive days or participation in a firefight while on a mission into Iraq to qualify for the ICM.

As Jonn observed, there’s no CAR – so Diliberto wouldn’t qualify for an ICM based on being in a firefight. And if he had any time in Iraq at all, I’m reasonably sure that would be listed on his DD214 after his GWOTEM as “(Kuwait/Iraq)”. Since Iraq isn’t listed there I think we can also safely assume he doesn’t have the requisite time in Iraq to qualify for the ICM, either.

Bottom line: he’s no Iraq vet. He deployed to Kuwait in support of OIF, but not to Iraq.

I’ve not been to the Iraq/Kuwait border region, but I’ve been to both Iraq (months) and Kuwait (days) – and that photo looks a lot like Kuwait. Of course, I understand southern Iraq looks much the same.

jvwardle

Looks an awful lot like Ahmed Al Jaber AB I went to in 2000…….But then again, it all looked like that.

martinjmpr

@21: Camp Buehring (F/K/A Camp Udairi) looks EXACTLY like that. As do camps Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania. Buehring is the home of the Udairi range complex where units getting ready to deploy into Iraq do their final training before crossing the berm. Pennsylvania and Virginia were redeployment camps when I was there in 04 and New York was just being stood up as a deployment camp (New York is/was literally across the road from Buehring, their gates are about 1/4 mile apart.)

Trent

He’s made me so proud of every voted I casted for him in the tournament.

Ex-PH2

If it weren’t for the kids in caftans, I would say that parts of Arizona and west Texas look like that.

I dated a guy in the early 1990s who said he was an in-country Vietnam vet. I took his word for it. At some point, he showed me a snapshot of a Jolly Green landing in an airfield and another of him with no shirt, holding what looked suspicious like a hunting rifle, not a M-16, outside a tent, with no surrounding landscape in the photo. I’m familiar with the landscape of Vietnam, so I’d have recognized it. Then red flags started popping up, like his asking me how much money my mother had (none of your business, I snapped) and giving me rather expensive jewelry when he said he didn’t have a job. If you don’t have a job, how can you afford something like that? You can’t, so I refused the jewelry. I got thoroughly turned off (the polite word) when he asked me if he could use my social security number to get a job. What do you think I said to that? I dumped him.

I would have dumped him anyway. He was a lousy lay.

The attention-seeking behavior that people like Dilbert and Wittlessgelding exhibit does have a label: histrionic personality disorder. It has nastily backfired on DW and it’s only a matter of time for this idiot.

I dunno, but I remember Kuwait looking a whole lot like….well…that picture.

OWB

Hmmm. Maybe I am looking at this all wrong. We took some fire with resulting holes punched in our C-130’s here and there around the world. That should make me eligible for several purple hearts, right? As proof, all we need is a pic or two of a broken C-130.

Yeah. That’s the ticket.

But wait – I don’t want to be on TV or have anyone call me an expert on anything. No point in lying about what was otherwise an honorable military career.

PowerPoint Ranger

He earned every single vote, and this is a great reminder of why he’s this years almighty King of Douche.

BohicaTwentyTwo

I’ve been out to Buehring once, but I don’t remember any civilians, children or otherwise, for miles around. Seems that most of the Marines were staged at Camp Coyote. Not sure of its exact location, but the pics I’ve seem to look similar to Buehring and the photo in the post.

Anonymous

That picture looks so much like Kuwait I can smell the hundred degree port-a-johns from here. To be fair the DFAC lines were pretty long. I am sure this awakened his primal instincts and gave meaning to “war is hell”.

ARoberts

This pic does remind me of Camp Coyote. Spent some time there in 03. Dont remember any kids being out there but who knows.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

I wonder where he gets his trousers, and if they need to be tailored special to accommodate his large brass balls…

Mons Wolfsman

That’s no part of KU that I ever saw troops near. Too much green (no, not kidding). I’ve been repeatedly thru every inch of that country. That’s not the entrance area to AAS, or certainly not NY/VA camps. The ‘roads’ around the camps weren’t even paved back then. And the rest of KU hiway is in better shape than that one. And kids running around like that in KU? Not bloody likely- maybe out in the boonies down south. No, that’s Iraq, likely up around Tikrit- maybe down south of Karbala or Basrah.

But not KU…

Yat Yas 1833

Is dildoberto claiming to have been Meritoriously promoted to L/Cpl out of recruit training? When did that change? In 1977 myself and two bro’s, Roberts and Peckhaus,, were contract PFCs, our Drill Instructors recommended us for meritorious promotion but the recommendation was rejected because we were already PFCs!? During recruit training we were respectively 1st, 2nd & 3rd squad leaders, high rifle experts, high 1st class PFTs, top 10% academically, etc. but no promotions. We were told later we were all in the running for Plt. Honor Grad!? We got ‘atta boy’ letters…

Green Thumb

Their were alot of kids up around Kirkuk.

OldSargeUSAR

Jake Dildo… You are an asshat, to be sure.

What is this jerk up to recently??

Still bedwetting, of course…

MrMe

What’s moron Jake up to these days…

Pissing off the European skydive scene – god I wish he’d f*** off back to the states, we don’t want him either!

OldSargeUSAR

@37

I suppose Dildoberto could be jumping out of perfectly good planes with AJ “Dickhead” Dicken, or liberating Grenada, singlehandedly of course, with Zippy the Pinhead, Bill Blake of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

So many douchebags, so little time to chat about them all…

Green Thumb

@38.

Phildo is the CO and Dildoberto is the XO.

Scary.
