Dear Pittsburg: You should change your street names
From a friend:
So I am in Pittsburgh …
And I am on Sandusky Rd and OnStar told me to turn on LaCock…..
Yeah, I’m thinking you might want to change that unfortunate confluence of streets.

Too funny! Thats a big oops!
Oh no you di-int!!
Warn your friend for the retun trip, TSO. If you’re over a certain age, you can’t turn on Sandusky from La Cock.
Not that it makes it any less funny, but it’s Lacock, not La Cock, and it’s pronounced “Lay-cock,” named after Abner Lacock, one of Pennsylvania’s first senators.
I dunno, I think LAY-cock makes it even funnier, and more wrong.
@4, I may have taken inadvertant artistic license with the capitilization. I think my brain must have capitilized. Either way, it should likely be renamed. And now, I am off to wikipedia Abner “The Three Rivers Bomber” Lacock.
Sandusky, Ohio is offended and is in no way related to the street name in Pittsburgh.
I hear there’s a Balzack Shower Store at the corner of Lacock and Sandusky…well, it’s what I heard.
The intersection of Sandusky/Lacock geez….they have a nice lube shop at 720 Lacock street, the entrance is in the rear…
@8 you were right about the DU….I’m already in trouble and only been posting a day…
It’s not offensive because 10 year olds can’t drive, duh.
If I were a lesser human being, this would be the point where I’d take out Michael Jackson’s name, insert Sandusky’s, and start telling the same jokes we all know.
Pennsylvania history is a personal hobby…sad that the butt of this joke is now an inextricable part of PA history. Pun perhaps intended.
If it’s relevant, “Sandusky street” is named after a urban rail line. So few people care about old rail lines that I think it’d be safe to rename that street for the sake of undoing this unfortunate confluence.
Remember, Pittsburgh and many other rustbelt cities have huge Polish American populations. In western PA there are probably several dozens or hundreds of individuals named Sandusky unrelated to infamous coach. There is no way Pittsburgh city council changes street name – besides has no connection to Penn State coach and they aren’t going to insult all the good Sandusky citizens of Steel City. A few other Sanduskys in football:
Jon Sandusky – Jerry’s son is director of player personnel for Cleveland Browns.
Alex Sandusky – Former NFL player for 13 yrs born in PA 1932
Jim Sandusky – Former CFL player born in 1961
John Sandusky – Former NFL player and coach. Won Superbowl in 1972 and 1973 as assistant for Don Shula – died in 2006
Mike Sandusky – Former NFL player for 9 yrs born 1935
I think it would be easier if they didn’t intersect. I would put forward a motion to have a bypass of a couple of hundred miles, straight through Happy Valley.
But no, I get what you guys are saying. It’s unfortunate and I can’t think of any obvious way to fix it.
BK- And of the specific founding fathers from PA one worth reading about? I have a vague recollection that I didn’t care for Robert Morris, but damned if I can remember why I didn’t like him.
Dear Pittsburg?
Where the hell is Pittsburg? I grew up in a place called Pittsburgh, PA, but have never been to Pittsburg. Is it close by????
There’s one in New Hampshire near the Canadian border, Ray. Did my vacation up there last month. Awesome place, if you don’t mind quite literally getting away from it all, including no cell phone service for an hour’s drive, dodging moose shit in the road, dodging the moose that just shit in the road, etc…
Damn Sparky, There are way more Pittsburgs than Pittsburghs.
Pittsburgs to Pittsburghs – “your outnumbered and surrounded – surrender”.
