Former student wrote threats before bringing loaded gun to Sacramento Catholic school
Story by Brett Stover

(FOX40.COM) — The man who brought a loaded gun to an East Sacramento parish school on Ash Wednesday was a former student — and he’d allegedly drafted handwritten threats.

Brian Richard Girardot Jr., 20, was charged Thursday in federal court. He was arrested Wednesday after arriving at a church near St. Mary Parish School with a firearm.

He dropped a younger relative off early Wednesday morning, federal officials said.

Girardot returned at about 9:30 a.m. and attempted to enter St. Mary Catholic Church, which is on the same property as the K-8 school, during an all-school Mass.

An off-duty police detective was attending the Ash Wednesday Mass as “parent observer” when they noticed a “suspicious person,” the Sacramento Police Department said.

“The off-duty detective spoke with the individual and during the interaction located and removed a loaded handgun from the person,” a police spokesperson said Wednesday.

Law enforcement discovered Girardot had additional ammunition and a camouflage jacket in a vehicle parked nearby, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.

According to court documents filed by prosecutors, Sacramento police found four more guns in a safe in Girardot’s garage: A Winchester 12-gauge shotgun, two .22 caliber rifles and a Winchester Model 670 .30-06 rifle.

The gun found on Girardot’s person was a Taurus Tracker .44 Magnum revolver.

Later, officers searched Girardot’s home, officials said. Inside, they found a series of handwritten notes stacked in his bedroom that contained references to suicide and threats.

One of the notes listed three relatives and the statement “All of you are the reason I’ve done this,” according to court documents. Another note read “Suicide Note f*** you” on one side and “… rest of y’all … f*** you die!!!” on the other.

Odd how the news cycle mostly overlooked this little incident. Wonder why?

Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.

Nice looking Colt. When I started with Brink’s in 1970, We had Colt .38 Police positive Wheel guns and S&W Mod 10, .38 5in bull barrels. My friends Dad worked for USPS and all he did was pick up the mail from the mail boxes. He used to stop at his house and pick up his lunch and one day he showed us his Army Colt .45 with the 2 moon clips. Had to be around 1955-56.

My vry first handgun was a .45 Colt New Service, which later was stolen from my father. Terrible first gun, it’s a wonder I can hit anything now, but explains why so many guns I have owned were either .44 or .45 caliber.
