“I just kept clearing until somebody told me to stop”

| June 25, 2012

Will sends us a report from the Army Times that two soldiers from the 3rd Special Forces Group, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jason W. Myers and Staff Sgt. Corey M. Calkins, have had their Silver Stars upgraded to Distinguished Service Crosses

They received their awards June 12 from Adm. William McRaven, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command.

I didn’t know that the DSC came with a box of Partagas cigars – those SF guys have good taste. Oh, click over to the article at the Army Times to read where the title for the post came from. It’s a pretty amazing story. Almost as amazing as the Army handing out Partagas.

Balls. O. Steel. Extra large.

Well done, gentlemen. For what each of you did, the kudos and honors are fully deserved.

Good that it was ADM McRaven presenting DSCs – POTUS Bambi would try to claim glory for himself. It was Barry’s “Gutsy” call to take down OBL that ensured SEAL Team Six could shoot straight & chew gum at same time. ADM McRaven was the one who masterminded the operation wire to wire – Barry had little say in the whole affair. He preferred to play golf and was pulled off the golf course to watch operation as it was commencing ( Bam had on golf clothes in the situation room photo ). As Barry was spiking the football – ADM McRaven graciously spread the credit to the operators not himself. So, thank you ADM McRaven and to these 2 great soldiers who risked life and limb, but didn’t feel need to do the end zone dance.

That is a real Warrior.
