Iran targets US embassy personnel

| May 28, 2012

The Washington Post reports that intelligence agencies have uncovered evidence that Iran is targeting violently, US embassy employees;

In recent weeks, investigators working in four countries have amassed new evidence tying the disparate assassination attempts to one another and linking all of them to either Iran-backed Hezbollah militants or operatives based inside Iran, according to U.S. and Middle Eastern security officials. An official report last month summarizing the evidence cited phone records, forensic tests, coordinated travel arrangements and even cellphone SIM cards purchased in Iran and used by several of the would-be assailants, said two officials who have seen the six-page document.

Of course, we can just file all of this away as part of the growing evidence that we are at war with Iran and have been since 1979. But all of the evidence that Iran was supplying insurgents with explosive devices in Iraq and Afghanistan wasn’t enough to provoke a response, nor was the fact that Iran was harboring Muqtada al Sadr and supporting the Syrian government in their quest to murder their own citizens.

Now that the US bureaucracy is a target, someone might get upset, but I wouldn’t count on it. But, because this administration puts more value on the lives of their State Department employees than the troops, Iran may have crossed an invisible line.

I’m sure the Ronulans will claim this is trumped up…

If the 90’s were any example, this administration will only barely acknowledge the attacks, and never clearly identify the attackers or the real threat. At the very best, they’ll only retaliate by using sanctions, missiles, or drones, and that will be the extent of their involvement.

…If we wanted to destroy – I mean literally destroy, wipe out, make vanish – the Islamic threat overnight, all our Government would have to do is give a green light to oil exploration in CONUS, and then tell the Iranians and the Saudis to eat their oil.

Won’t happen, though.

What Mike says. Square in the black.

Nothing new about being targeted. New part is the .gov getting all butthurt when the targets are dips.

I agree with you on that Jonn. Before I left Iraq last year as a contractor I saw the state departments “New” base compounds. they had more surveillance and detection systems than most of Basra, and the ambassador was so naive that she believed when the Military left that the Iraqis would open their arms with friendship. Before I left Iraq completely Basra airbase was getting heavily shelled. So much for her idea. One other problem was she hated the military and consistently showed disdain for them.

@ 2, PintoNag. This administration has yet to admit the attacks in Arkansas and Texas were terrorist actions, do you think comrade obama is going to admit to this?

Ok, time to channel my inner Gordy Duff and Alex Jones…….This is another FALSE FLAG to get us into a shooting war and invasion of Iran!!!! I have talked with my super secret oompa loompas and they assure me this is just a false flag and that it is the CIA and Mossad behind all this!!! You people are sooo blinded by your corporate masters in the military industrial complex!

@7 Yat Yas: You’re correct, of course; that was my thought when I wrote what I did above. The one that stuck out particularly for me was the attack on the USS Cole. And I am completely flattened that, even after 9/11, the attacks in Arkansas and Texas were handled as local matters, and not the terrorist attacks they so obviously were.
