Veterans Today: Tossing medals was an “heroic act”
Those as yet unbeaten rented mules at Veterans Today have stretched the definition of “heroic” to include those douche nozzles in Chicago Sunday who tossed their medals at NATO. Of course, a featured photo is that of phony Ranger puss bucket, Graham Crumpner;
What’s really disgusting about Crumpner and his phony Ranger act is that I know for a fact that IVAW knows that he’s not a Ranger, but they let him use that label in media interviews. But, that’s alright, because we finally have an address on him and the FOIA request has been submitted. You would have thought that they would have learned after fake Ranger Jesse MacBeth.
But, back to the “heroics” of this act. What is so heroic about standing in a crowd of anti-war protesters and being their mannequin and making an anti-war statement? What might be more brave would be standing in a crowd of the Gathering of Eagles folks and proclaiming those words. But that would lean more in the direction of being foolish.
What about the heroic people who left IVAW and the anti-war movement. After realizing that they were being used to project their own military service on to those who had never served, or those clowns who had never left the country, dozens decided to stand up for themselves and walk away, some more vocally than others. That’s heroic. They went against the grain and condemned IVAW’s heroes like Matthis and Carl Webb in the face of criticism and derision. Some of them even faced down the ass-munch clowns who tried to get them to desert or refuse their deployment orders “for the movement”.
So where is Veterans Today on the case of the abused folks in the anti-war movement who stood up to the peer pressure and threats of acts of violence and go their own way? I didn’t see anyone being abused or threatened in Chicago. Those clowns were just going along with the crowd around them. How is that heroic?

Never before have I heard of veterans today. Never will read them not even for this article. I am offended by the use of particular words and the propagandist way they are tossed around. I tried in a calm manner to have a legit conversation with one of these guys in the comment section of one of Mr. Lilyea’s previous articles.
They are turds and should be villified for the public not treated as heros for their cowardly actions and their attention whoring. Kudos to Mr Lilyea for actually representing and showing what honorable veterans think and behave. Refusing to go on deployment is desertion and one of the most cowardly actions I can think of a Uniformed member of our military could do. Sorry you collection of benefits was interrupted by doing the job you signed up for.
These Kerry wannabes need to go to a real unit and get some wall to wall counseling with some real ncos. Go pound sand ivaw, Java,veterans today, and all the PAC’s that tell the public they are working for veterans while actually working against us.

@7 I’ve seen corrections posted here in the past, but don’t see any libel even if knucklehead was a Ranger and served in combat. First, no one can make his character look worse than he already has by his own actions; and second, there has not been a knowing or reckless disregard for the truth.

Like I said, Dude, I did do some fact checking. I talked to the people at the Ranger Training Brigade who have no record of him. I’d say it with crayons so you can understand if I could. I don’t make pointless accusations here, which is why people believe me and not some anonymous troll.

If those wannabes were well and truly serious about throwing away their awards as a gesture, then they also ought to write the DVA and ask them to halt all of their veteran’s benefits.
If these wannabes are true in their convictions, then they shouldn’t want anything to do with the federal Government, and refuse all veteran’s benefits: Health care, GI Bill, pensions, all of it. Burn their discharge papers and their photos, don’t be seen in their uniforms or parts of uniforms anywhere.
But they won’t. They don’t have the courage of their convictions. They are a bunch of pussyfied posers, and not worth a bucket of warm spit.

As far as I know, there’s only been one legitimate Army Ranger who has somewhat publicly aligned his views with the anti-war crowd. And that was Kevin Tillman, Patrick Tillman’s brother.

The medal is sporting is a GWOT Expeditionary Medal…prior to 2005 it was given as an “I was there” for Iraq and Afghanistan, since replaced by the ICM and ACM (Campaign Medals) for the respective theaters. Since 2005, the GWOT-EM is given to deployed individuals working GWOT missions in other than Iraq/Afghanistan.

Of course not that any of you care so long as you get your way. I worship nothing and noone, but out of all the prominent figures in the veterans circles Jonn is is the most honest. He at least demonstrates his integrity by posting an apology and retraction if he gets something wrong. It just doesn’t happen often because Jonn is a big boy who is capable of evaluating these things objectively so he almost always gets it right the first time.
I sure has hell have never seen anything similar from the IVAW and their sycophants. I’m not sure I could expect anything better from them since they harbor known liars, scam artists, advocates for violence, rapists, and pedophiles within the inner circles of the movement.

Most of the Vietnam era cowards would probably have done things differently if they knew the amount of respect now given to those who didn’t run away or pull strings to get some cushy Stateside reserve posting.
