NBP offers $10k reward for capture of Zimmerman
According to the Sun-Sentinel, the New Black Panther Party is offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Trayvon Martin, a twelveseventeen-year-old boy.
The bounty announcement came moments after members of the group called for the mobilization of 10,000 black men to capture Zimmerman, who shot Trayvon in a gated Sanford community on Feb. 26.
Yeah, that won’t cause any problems. I have no idea what happened that night, nor will I pretend to be an expert. However, I do know that offering a large reward for the capture of a man who hasn’t been charged in a crime, and the police know exactly where he is, is feeding into the irrational outrage and probably won’t end well.
I can’t think of a reason that would cause me to shoot an unarmed 1217-year-old, so I’m not a big supporter of George Zimmerman. The versions of the stories from “eye witnesses” are do diverse, I think if I were the police or the prosecutor, I’d discount all of the testimony up to this point. Clearly someone is lying, for whatever their personal reasons might be. I’d also arrest the NBP’s leaders and anyone else who thinks it’s a good idea to incite the community to rioting.
If anything, all of this outrage, is slowing the investigation and hindering prosecution. And the hypocrisy is doing nothing but muddying the water.

Not to nitpick, however Trayvon Martin is/was 17. Awful mess, but looks like the law is following its natural course… and others are attempting to hijack it. Beyond that, longtime lurker, fitful commenter- great site, keep it up!
Kid was 17. Shooting a 12 year old would have taken this case to even more epic outrage levels than have already been demonstrated.
Drudge had 7 headlines about this incident, yesterday, but this morning, it was all gone, scrubbed completely from his website. Could it be the picture of him at 12 years old, which the media continues to use to portray Trayvon, was misleading in the most aggressive way? The picture of the 6’2″ 17 year old Trayvon, shirtless and wearing the usual pants hanging off the ass and boxer shorts showing while flipping the double bird to the camera on his facebook page has been completely ignored; I wonder why? Oh, that’s right, because it doesn’t pull at the heartstrings of the population in the way the media and race baiters want.
Sadly, the DoJ won’t be getting involved with THIS issue. We’ve seen how Eric Holder deals with the NBPP in the past.
Sparking a riot? This is the sort of crap that can fan the flames of civil war. Just check out John Brown, Harper’s Ferry, et al.
I am not condoning what Zimmerman did, but I wasn’t there and I don’t know what happened to spark the confrontation. All I do know is the media and race baiters are waving a bloody shirt around and acting like they are all victims. Jesse Jackson said that “blacks are under attack”, which is true, but he isn’t telling the whole truth, because he’s leaving out that they are under attack by other blacks, but is insinuating that it is others, mainly whites, that are the attackers.
Jonn: I hate to say it, but I can think of a number of situations where shooting a teen, whether armed or not, could be both necessary and justified. There are some really hardcore 16 and 17 y/o criminals out there – of all races.
And for the record: no, I am not in any way implying that Trayvon Martin was a criminal, or that Zimmerman shooting him was justified. In both cases, I simply don’t know.

You’re just wrong in saying that the outrage has slowed down the investigation. The investigation was ended completely. You can’t get any slower than stopped. The outrage and witnesses stepping forward to say they were ignore is what made the police and prosecutors re-open the case.
@5 You are aware old-trooper that if Martin were a white kid in a hoodie Zimmerman would of been fine with him walking in “his” neighborhood aren’t you? I also still maintain that if Martin were a white kid the cops would not of been so eager to close this case.
Sometimes people have reason to be outraged. This is an outrageous case.
Yeah he would have been fine with it, that’s why he called 911 when he saw white people walking through his neighborhood he thought was suspicious. I told you in the other thread that he did not only call 911 about black people but you ignored that like most everything else.
We’ve reached a point of no return with the rhetoric espoused by the Black leftists. They will never retreat even after a “new” witness has come forward and bits of information regarding Zimmerman’s physical condition and appearance have been publicized. Tawana Brawley’s best friend (Rev. Al)and “Hymie Town’s” Rev. Jesse have too much to lose.
I’m not saying that deadly physical force was right or wrong in this case unless and until more information is released.
We should all reserve judgement, since most of what the left is saying is pure unadulterated BS.
By all means, if we don’t get the result we want, let’s riot and force the authorities to reopen the case…..

Heaven help us if the grand jury they convened does not return with an indictment, however I think they are under incredible pressure, not to mention some fear for their own safety, so they will probably charge him with something at which point it will really be game on.

@#8. Yet again, how do you know for a fact that the case was “closed”? You made that assertion in the other thread, and when called, you failed to provide a single link, or quote from a source in the PD or State’s Attorney’s office, who said the case had been closed. You’re the equivalent of the race baiters down in Florida right now, you’ve got no proof, but it doesn’t stop you from getting on your podium and saying all kinds of unsubstantiated bull shit.
So far, I’ve only read an account from just one witness who saw any part of this. The others “heard” it, or came up when the whole thing was over.

@8: You do realize that you are making an assumption based on your own preconceived bias; right? You don’t know what Zimmerman was thinking any more than I do. Did you know that according to FBI statistics that approx. 1600 white folk die at the hands of black folk every year? That’s 18 times higher than the amount of blacks killed by whites, according to the same statistics. Where’s the outrage? Did you know that when a white kid on a bus was beaten up by at least 4 black kids, while they were shouting racial epithets at the white kid, the police found NO racial bias or hate crime in the case? Where’s the outrage? Did you also know that hispanics are often described as white on police reports? Did you know that Zimmerman is hispanic with black heritage in his bloodline and has mixed race relatives?
Keep chanting the progressive race baiting mantra, but at least educate yourself first. There’s plenty out there to be outraged at, but I find it interesting that the professional race baiters cherry pick instances to be outraged at. Kinda like the Duke case. Martin is dead. The NBP can’t buy his life back, and if they’re looking to end Zimmerman’s they need to pony up more than a paltry 10K. The bottom line is Zimmerman shot an unarmed kid. Notice the adjective I chose to use was ‘unarmed’ not ‘black.’
The only thing more irrelevant than the kid’s race is the pseudo-outrage of a nation that will be over this incident in the next 48 hours. Unfortunately the race card only plays in the media and the courtroom (which have become one and the same), and the public has a very limited attention span for both.

@Old Trooper, I don’t think statistics serve your point here. Numbers, and other empirical data, have no place in a discussion about something as irrational as racism. Especially in this case where the only ‘evidence’ of racism is a dead black kid. that being said, I agree with what you’re saying, but using hard data gives the impression that inflammation of racial tensions is worthy of such consideration.
Have to disagree, LZ. The only way to prove racists wrong is to calmly show them and everyone else, through indisputable evidence, that they are indeed wrong – factually and morally. That’s precisely what the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s did. And it’s the only effective way to silence the racists.
Appeals to emotion only play into the racists’ strong suit. Racists of all types are damned good at appealing to base, ugly emotions.
@27: I understand what you’re saying and that could be a valid point if what we were looking at in this case were cold, hard, facts. We’re not, we’re working with a conclusion based on emotion and bias, not data that back up the statements put out there as the truth. By showing the numbers, it takes away the narrative that is being forwarded for an agenda that they hope to use to shape public opinion. No different than the example I gave in another thread when I mentioned the half truths and falsehoods that are/were being forwarded on “climate change” and that affects us all in both freedoms and treasure because one group thinks that man is an evil scourge upon the earth. The difference with this narrative is that white folk are still the attackers and oppressors of blacks. They throw it out there as fact, yet have no data to back it up. I provided the data to say they are full of shit.

And lets not forget, speaking of the civil rights movement, that it was then Senator Byrd who led the Democrats in a filibuster attempt to try and stop the Civil Rights Act.
It was the Republicans who voted overwhelmingly to get the act passed, while a great many of the Democrats voted against it, having failed to stop it via filibuster.
However, the Democrats did manage to undercut the Civil Rights Act by getting the Food Stamps and Section-8 Housing programs passed, thereby ensuring that blacks would be kept on the left’s welfare plantation for generations to come.

For what it’s worth: Drudge now has a link to a story indicating that an eyewitness has corroborated Zimmerman’s claim of being assaulted by Martin. Specifically, the witness states he saw Martin on top of Zimmerman, beating him, shortly before Martin was shot.

This whole thing has become a big joke with everyone wanting to ‘honor’ Trayvon.
The most pathetic thing is how the media was soooo eager to make this into a black and white thing from the very beginning. I am pretty certain that initially, when the news media did not have a picture of Zimmerman, they assumed he was white. When his picture was released, I was like, he sure doesn’t look white to me. Then the news media slowly started to retract its stance, but only a bit, by identifying Zimmerman’s father as being white and his mother Peruvian. Still, he does not look ‘mixed’ to me, but a full hispanic. Not being racial about it but being honest.
So now the media identifies Zimmerman in every article as being ‘white hispanic.’ Whut? LOL.
It seems the witness is corroborating Zimmerman’s story…there are a lot of holes in the Media’s portrayal of this…my guess is an overzealous Neighborhood Watch person confronted a suspicious looking kid in his neighborhood, and that confrontation resulted in a fight…Zimmerman bit off more than he could chew, and had to resort to the gun to save his life…he totally screwed up but legally he may not have broken any laws, and that may be why he hasnt been arrested…yet. Who knows how this will end, but the black people where I work are totally incensed, thanks to the media, and I would be wasting my breath to advise them to wait til the facts come out…they utterly believe everything the left and the media say, its crazy.

Speaking of rape, forcible sexual crimes are down 20% in Florida since the passage of the “Stand Your Ground” law. It seems that sexual predators (who are generally not armed with a firearm) are less keen to attack a woman that may be packing the kind of heat that can put a permanent end to the predators.

Sorry y’all..but the false narrative the race baiters rushed out there is fast falling apart. There was corroborating witness statements given that night which matched what Zimmerman said and his injuries were consistent. There is only one minute of time that cannot be accounted for—so there’s plenty of reasonable doubt. The prosecutors advised the police they did not have enough to arrest Zimmerman. This has to go to a grand jury—the system is working. It’s the race hustlers taking advantage of a family’s grief who are the evil ones here. The real terrorists are the NBPP and the ones inciting the mob to violence. I know our Dear Leader and Reichsfurher Holder won’t file charges. They prove daily they have no respect for the rule of law. This is Duke lacrosse all over again…on steriods…and we know how that turned out. People’s lives are going to be destroyed over this.
Army Sergeant: It’s available via Google search using keywords “trayvon martin facebook picture 17”. But some accounts indicate the one of him giving the double-finger isn’t him, so I’m not sure I’d give that particular photo much credence. The media might have been correct to ignore it.
However, other photos of him at 17 look quite different that the photo at 12 the media originally trotted out, so it’s fair criticism nonetheless. And you yourself should know that the media takes liberties with the truth at times – since the media has publicly implied you are a “combat veteran” when you have yourself said you are not.

@41: It’s funny how now, when you go looking for photos of him, they are all of him at 12-14 years old. The one that they say isn’t him might actually be him, but they don’t want anyone to see that side of him, because it doesn’t fit the narrative. I sent Jonn some links this morning that show how hard his mother is taking this. It also shows how they are attempting to whip up the racial tensions juuuuuust a little bit more witha new t-shirt, that has hit the streets in Florida.
Old Trooper: I don’t doubt that certain elements of the media are “spinning” this incident for political purposes. My comment above was simply to point out the fact that the authenticity of the purported “double-finger” photo has been questioned. Unlike the media and many progressives, I’m not a big fan of using questionable evidence to support my arguments. It’s too much of a risk, and the damage is too great if/when the questionable evidence is proven false.
The photo in question may or may not be Martin. But it’s also not particularly necessary to show that Martin had some faults and wasn’t perfect, given other information that’s been made public.
I have held off commenting on this case so far. This to me, seems to be another Duke Lacrosse case. The information that is coming out of Florida in the last 36 hours is that Zimmerman is the victim, as multiple witness’ identify Martin as the aggressor, and Zimmerman as the one screaming for help. Zimmerman also is on record as saying Martin went for his gun. That, and the Police seem to be believing the Zimmerman side, which if I had to guess, is the side the most closely resembles the physical evidence found at the scene. Zimmerman is a little out there, but always wanted to be a Cop, and as such, I think he knows the value of integrity, physical evidence. This public outcry is just another example of the same elements from the Duke case trying to bait the public into THEIR view of what happened instead of what actually happened. Personally, I think the physical evidence will tell all, and I await the Trayvon Martin Toxicology Report…
