Clinging to the PTS BS
Chris sends us an article about Robert M. Lanzilotti who shot a 19-year-old at a party, supposedly to scare the guy away from him. Well, the article says that Lanzilotti is mentally competent enough to stand trial, because apparently his lawyer is leaning on PTSD as the reason Lanzilotti shot young Cameron Bock, because Lanzilotti is an Afghanistan veteran;
Earlier, Lanzilotti’s attorney, Douglas Oliver, told MacKenzie: “My client is a veteran and served in Afghanistan for more than a year. He complied fully with the (forensic) evaluation and … may be affected by post-traumatic stress disorder, but not to the level to affect his criminal responsibility.”
And yes he is an Afghanistan veteran. I looked him up in AKO and he a specialist in the grade of E-4 and assigned to the 919th Inland Cargo Transportation Co. and here’s an article about when they returned;
Commanded by Captain Annette Sabado, the 919th ICTC’s mission was to run the Central Receiving and Shipping Point Yard on Bagram Airfield.
Well, that hardly jibes with the accused’s account of his military experience;
In court records Lanzilotti, who claimed to be a combat veteran and firearms instructor in the Army….
Chris also found a link from Lanzilotti’s local support group;
Robert is currently in Advanced Individual Training to which he and his recruiter agreed prior to his enlistment. This training will authorize him to refuel aircraft and ground vehicles.
So he worked at a gas station in Bagram, while technically a combat veteran, obviously not one who can claim that he suffers from PTSD because of the things he saw or experienced. The worst thing he saw was when someone tripped over his fueling hose one day and it pulled his iPod ear buds out.
I’m not demeaning his service any more than he’s demeaning the rest of us with his bullshit lies.
“It is this examiner’s opinion that neither a substantive disorder of thought or mood, or post-traumatic stress disorder specifically was an active participant in the shooting. (He) has extensive knowledge of gun safety and the capacity to practice proper firearms safety and also reportedly has historically disregarded firearm safety and playfully pointed his gun at others prior to the alleged offense,” [Dr. Michele Hill] wrote.
Fuckstick. I hope his first sergeant jerks a knot in his ass after the court gets done with him.

You gotta cut him some slack. He probably listened to Metthis while sitting in the Baskin Robbins on Bagram. That could mess up the guys mind for sure. One session there, and then to see the fame and fortune piled on the Metthis on the streets would be PTSD inducing, wouldn’t it?
You gotta keep your eye on those 77-Foxtrots. I never met a POL specialist that wasn’t a chain smoker.
Who would have thought that the epidemic of PTSD flakes (fakes) would soon outnumber the stolen valor claims. Though you could say that fake PTSD claims are kinda in that territory.
It just keeps building upon itself, so that anyone and everyone that puts on a uniform can now have that PTSD crutch/excuse to fall upon.
Makes you wonder just how many of these phonies are on the VA payroll for PTSD claims.
Bejeezus H.
After reading 2 shrinks make the claim that Emily Dickinson suffered from PTSD I have come to the conclusion that PTSD will soon become a one size fits all diagnosis. Everyone one time or more in their lives has witnessed an event that has caused traumatic stress. Its the individual and how they deal with this stress that has yet to solved and that wont happen since we are all very different from each other. And since we are all individuals with different limits a one size fits all solution is impossible. The PTSD defense will soon replace the Chew Baccca defense.
Shit, Now I’m hearing civilians telling me that they have PTSD from stuff like getting fired from a job, have a fender bender car wreck and shit like that. I guess anything can stress out some retards.
PTSD causes I have heard from civilians: a relative having cancer, knowing someone who died in a helicopter crash, carpal tunnel surgery that failed, car crashes, witnessing a stranger being beat up… It is the diagnosis du jour.
I knew this shit would happen more and More. I remember in 2005 listening to dudes while in Baghdad figuring out how to claim PTSD for a check from the VA. Went to the VA for my screwed up arm, counselor wanted me to out in for 30% PTSD even though I have no symptoms. he said its free money take it, I was pissed then and watched others duck out of deployment, and use it to break contracts. there are some who stoop low among us and they give the real sufferers a bad name.
Looks like TAH will have to open up an entirely new category of the Jesse McBeth/Ballduster McSoulPatch awards: most f*cked up PTSD claim/crime.
I should let the social worker at the VA know that I have PTSD for not knowing there’s a Baskin Robbins on Bagram.
There was a Baskin Robbins in Bagram? Damn…
Oh, I mean…
This story is so legitimate that I… um… I…
Nope, lost what I was going to say as I think that guy is just an ass clown.
Now, off to the Baskin Robbins in town…
If I had to defend a soldier or former soldier, I would use a similar argument. Can’t blame the lawyer for using anything to vigorously defend his client. The guy may be scum, but even scum get a defense. See the constitution, you know the document you swore to uphold.
I guess Salsa Night and Starbucks at Bagram was too much for him.
Good point CI Roller Dude.
Even civilians nowadays are overusing the PTSD term, proof once again of the media’s role in this. The term and concept of PTSD has been diluted and corrupted just as much as the concept and term of ‘hero.’
I guess I can start claiming PTSD because I got a bad job review, got hit with a thousand dollar tax bill, and oh, let me see what else, delinquent on my mortgage loan.
It’s so pathetic now that a military person didn’t even have to step foot in Iraq or Afghanistan (even as a ‘soft’ MOS), or even serve abroad at all. Yup, nowadays just wearing the uniform, period, allows you to make PTSD claims.
I think all of us who have deployed have PTSD, whether you saw something disturbing or not…just to the high volume of stress that you had to deal with. We all have different signs. I don’t wake up rested after sleeping, for example.
I know of a soldier that claims PTSD suffered from all the mail that came into the post office there in Kuwait. She said all the Christmas packages made her suffer.
If he is convicted won’t the Army discharge him?
Anyone can have PTSD, even a Soldier or Marine that never deployed, a person who who has a traumatic event. Basically whatever bomb sets off a persons psyche.
Here is the big BUT…. Lanzilottis ticking. Time bomb went off long before he ever deployed. He was one of those wild ADHD kids that didn’t think. He just did something really stupid without thinking of it. He had an attitude and he was unstable. Just so you all know, 3/4 of the enlisted population has some sort of mental illness prior to enlisting. Whether the VA pays or Medicaid either way the US pays. I know whatever happened to lanzilotti happened before he left for Afghanistan. Stop hating on the 92F. It’s not like we actually fulfill the Petroleum duties.
