Jihadist gunman cornered in Toulouse
I’m watching BBC which is reporting that the man responsible for the murders in Toulouse, France that we’ve been discussing, has been identified and is now cornered by French police. It seems he was arrested in 2010 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and he has said that the attacks were in retaliation for the shootings in Afghanistan last week by SSG Bales and for Israel’s actions in Palestine.
Two policemen were injured when they were shot through the door as they approached the apartment.
So, despite misinformation that has been propagated by some people on this blog, my original contention that it was jihadists was correct. And it is an example of the war following the troops home. Joe.
I’ll link as they become available.
Added: A United Press International link.
The unidentified suspect — who French Interior Minister Claude Gueant said was a French national of Algerian origin who spent considerable time in Afghanistan and Pakistan — was barricaded, talking to police from behind a door of the house, Gueant said.
He spoke numerous times “of his al-Qaida links,” Gueant told reporters.
CNN quoted officials as saying the suspect belonged to a jihadist group called Forsane Alizza, or Knights of Glory. The French government banned the group in January for trying to recruit people to fight in Afghanistan.

The war is already here in these United States.
Maj Hasan, 9/11, Beltway Sniper shootings, CAIR, Holyland Foundation, etc.
And I’m sure Joe will be in here most ricky-tick to apologize for being wrong yet again.
Quow!!! These Jihadist gunmans are so scary? We just can not sleep at night because we are so frightened of the threat that they pose to our life, liberty and property. They lurk under every Sofa that is found in every crack house. They ride shotgun with the Hells Angles and Benadictine Monks in Cathoic Monistaries in the mid west. They are massing along the Mexican American border to be droped in to the US along with the bags of heroin and mathandsediments being delivered by the speed boats from Cuba.
They have even developed nano technology to give us cancer.
They convinced the French to build nuclear power plants all over france so that they can make freedom fries glow in the dark.
They make the Jokcer look like a Pinguin Patriot!!
Kill! Kill! Kill! make the grease grow with the blood of Jihadists then we will all be safe and prosper! We have nothing better to fear than the Jihadists!!!!!
Everyone; ignore #4. It’s not worth the time and effort to respond to children whose minds are that fucked up.
As for the article and Joe; let’s hope he’s more consistent and quicker with coming here to apologize than Obama is in calling Bristol Palin. As for the jihadi; he was arrested in 2010 in A-stan? How the hell was he allowed back in France?
Probably the same reason we have to clear night raids through Afghan judges–limp-wristed pussies suffering from terminal cases of the dumbass.
I wonder if LR&C above was Joe posting before the meds kicked in . . . .
Actually, Hondo, it was Curt Kastens, our resident Euro-wienie troll who we inherited from Blackfive when he was banned there.
Jonn–I’m thinking Jimbo needs to click the shit outta your links as a means of apology for foisting said douchenozzle on this site.
I don’t want to use this as an ‘I told you so’ moment. At the same time, I would like to see the media show a little restraint in early investigations. My CNN RSS feed has this article listed almost directly above an article saying the French were investigating neo-Nazis for the crimes.
Ah, Sparky, it wasn’t Jimbo — and I’ve already apologized to Jonn and TSO about Kurt.
@11: LMAO! That’s ok, Mr. Wolf; you can buy the beer next time at HHC (and only beer; NOT what you paid last time, you were a guest and didn’t need to do that) well, you did have the killer stogies, too. 🙂
Whoops; read #11 before having caffeine this morning. Sorry, I didn’t see it was LW. I need more coffee.
Get a clue – he’s a French citizen. He didn’t follow them home from anywhere.
Come on Joe, I thought you would admit if you were wrong? If not, go suck dick.
Um, Joe, he was in an Afghan prison for bomb-building in 2010 until he escaped. Open your mouth while I spoon feed you.
Joe: as expected, you won’t bother to admit when you’re wrong.
Whether or not he’s a French citizen or national is irrelevant, dipstick. The guy has claimed to be acting on behalf of al Qaeda in order to “get revenge” for France’s participation in anti-terrorist operations elsewhere, and to get revenge “for the children of Palestine”.
Last time I checked, neither al Qaeda nor Palestine are French.
You’re cut from the same cloth as DUIDave. You’re just another lying hypocrite.
Jonn: my comment 7 above was actually intended as a joke. But based on Joe’s later comments, maybe it was closer to the mark than I realized at the time.
@14: Oh we got a clue, Joe, and that clue is that you’re just another progressive troll. Those of us that have been here a long time knew you wouldn’t admit that you’re wrong, even though it had nothing to do with him being a French national, but your insistance that it was a neo-nazi, which was just stupid, but I was going to give you enough rope to hang yourself with and like a good little commie; you performed down to expectations.
I seem to remember Joe saying that he’d admit it if he was wrong. If only I had some kind of proof that he’d said that. Oh, right.
I find it funny how people like Joe refuse to put two and two together. I can at least realize when I’ve inserted my foot in my mouth, he won’t even admit his head is up his ass.
Wow, another al-Qaida operative released to fight again, color me surprised, not.
And Joe not apologizing? Ya, color me surprised, not. As Jonn pointed out, a bunch of us called that one right.
I had not read he was in an Afghan prison for bomb making, and still cannot verify that.
Funny, Joe, I Googled “Toulouse” and the first news item that popped up was this Reuters article. Open wide, now, here comes the airplane.
I respectfully disagree with the consensus of opinion at this point. Joe isn’t a troll; he’s fighting with the break between a flawed world view and reality. This is no different than a frightened child or adult that runs and hides in a closet when the house is on fire; his denial is a maladaptive response to a crisis.
LMAO, Joe, you’re a hoot.
“A chronic inability to admit error is usually a defense mechanism developed during childhood or early adolescence in response to overly-critical parents. It is often closely linked to personality disorders”
Can you verify for us that the sky is blue in your corner of reality Joe?
Joe, Joe, Joe. Reports are that he is Algerian. I’ll assume that you are familiar with France’s colonization of North Africa, the second and third order effects of that colonization, and its impact on French citizenship vis a vis Algerians.
Here are a few highlights from Al Arabiya (http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/03/21/202102.html), just so I’m not accused of cherry picking from the right wing sites:
“… where the 24-year-old Muslim man was holed up.”
“…the gunman was a French citizen of Algerian origin who had been to Pakistan and Afghanistan…”
“…the gunman wanted revenge “for the Palestinian children and he also wanted to attack the French army because of its foreign intervention.””
““He claims to be a mujahideen and to belong to al-Qaeda,”…”
“he had been picked up by Pakistani intelligence services in Afghanistan’s Kandahar…”
Strangely, Al Arabiya make no mention of a neo-Nazi connection regardless of how much I’m sure they would love to. I believe that you’re original comment was “So now it looks like hime grown neo-nazis. So much for the bumper sticker slogan, “fight them there so we don’t have to fight them here”” and you later you said “If I’m wrong I’ll admit it – will you?” You were wrong. Time to pay the piper.
Well, the Reuters article answers my question about connections between the shootings of the soldiers and the attack on the Jewish school.
Slightly OT: Does anyone recall roughly when the term “sudden onset jihad” first appeared, in relation to things like these shootings? Someone asked me and I thought it was around 2009 but my G00gle-fu has been weak recently. Many thanks.
@#23, “I had not read he was in an Afghan prison for bomb making, and still cannot verify that”. Translation; Joey’s been to DU, MediaMatters, Kos, and PuffHo, and they haven’t said a word, so Joey just doesn’t know what to say.
Still waiting for that admission dbag.
Time to “pay the piper”? Au contraire, bobo. Joe’s a “progressive”. And “progressive” means someone else should pay.
Sweet…too bad that the Gendarmes/GIGN didn’t breach and kill his sorry rag-head ass. But, I’m sure they had a reason for not doing so.
France does not have capital punishment, so this mooslimb turd will live at French taxpayer expense for the rest of his miserable life…unless he’s not solitary, and some other prisoner performs an act of real justice for those Soldiers and children and their families.
As for Joey…well, he’s a product of his environment, a crappy education (both formal and worldly), and lack of a ball sack and its contents.
He’ll probably blame Bush like a good progressive.
