Dog Collar SF soldier

ROS sent us this link to an article I’ve seen around the internet about a guy named Michael Lee Mitchell near Eglin AFB who was arrested for using an electric dog collar on his two small girls.
Michael Lee Mitchell, 28 — an Army Special Forces soldier living in Crestview — was arrested this week when detectives discovered that he allegedly shocked two girls, ages 8 and 4, and made them do extreme physical exercise regularly until they threw up, according to FOX 10.
Yeah, you knew he had to be a Special Forces soldier, right? I mean only someone trained in the most martial of arts would be that cruel to torture children. And it was probably the things he was made to do at bidding of Darth Chaney which made him spend his garrison time torturing children. I mean that’s the standard line right?
Well, it seems that Mitchell is indeed assigned to a Special Forces unit at Eglin Air Force base, but he’s a mechanic;
Yeah, he was little too butter-ballish to be a “special forces soldier”. He may have eaten a special forces soldier once recently. It’s like Jeffrey MacDonald who murdered his wife and children in 1970 will always be known as The Green Beret Doctor even though he never trained as a “green beret” and was merely assigned to a Special Forces group as their surgeon, this Mitchell guy will probably be the Green Beret Dog Collar Guy.

don’t forget he was an Airborne Ranger too. And about the time that he was deep behind enemy lines with only a Ka Bar.
This is the second member of the unit to make headlines in about a month. Neither were green berets, but that isn’t what the non-military public will think of our newest neighbors here in the area. This asshole needs some shock collar training for sure.
By and large, I don’t blame the local media for using the term as they have. They get information from a PAO or other spokesman, who gives the offending Solider’s unit.
If Mitchell had been in the Eleventy-Thirteenth Quartermaster Company, they would have called him a Quartermaster. They simply don’t know any better, and are naively trying to add as much context as they can.
So I’ve been trying to join the army for over a year, was supposed to ship out last August to Benning in an 11B Option 40 slot before the idiots at MEPS realized they had messed up my paperwork and my vision disqualified me from infantry (even though it really doesn’t and I’ve spent the last 5 months trying to get it sorted out). If I do something incredibly stupid can I get the media to call me a former Army Ranger?
Adam…don’t start off your tentative Army career as a douchebag
And what kind of sick fuck smokes a 4-year old girl until she pukes? Seriously???
Sorry I forgot my /sarc Jeff.
When the 7th SFG first came to town, I was thinking that all who wore the patch were “Green Berets”. Not so. Last night I stopped in at a local convenience store and saw a young lady that I thought I recognized as having been at the Ranger Camp for a Cadre/7SFG jump a month ago. On asking she said she hadn’t jumped with the Rangers yet. A few minutes later at the register I asked her how many jumps she had. She said that she hadn’t been to jump school. I asked if she was in Trans support and she affirmed that. She would have let me think she was “Green Beret” if I hadn’t followed up. To her credit, she didn’t actually lie to me, just let me make my own assumptions.
Adam S:
Sounds like you have your “shit in a pile”. Pretty good for a young guy. Keep working on getting in, keep yourself straight, stay away from the losers and you might well make it.
Thanks for stopping by here to comment. Don’t be a stranger, we ol’ dudes need some new blood to keep us in focus.

Volunteer to cook at the Salvation Army.
Media types are probably stupid enough to confuse an Army Ranger with someone who used the range in the Salvation Army kitchen… assuming they even bother to follow up on the claim.
there’s a simple problem here: anything connected to SF is “Green Berets”. it doesn’t matter if you are support or not. There are no Female Green Berets, and while there are in fact SF troopers (the real ones) that are a little heavier that you’d expect, They are consummate professionals, and do not do stupid shit like this.
I kinda want to ask, why would anyone even think of smoking a 4-6 yo girl?
Doc:
There are females in the 7th SFG, tactical types, jump qualified, and used for female body searches and such as that. I was surprised to learn it, but an SF Major set me straight after I saw a few of them jumping here at Camp Rudder.
I went to PLDC with Rangers does that count? I also worked with several guys that were airborne and or worked with SF group out of Ft. Lewis.
/sarc
$200,000 to get out of jail? Nah.
$.25 worth of lead should be more than enough to set him free.
Permanently.
Doc..even better question. And I wonder how he’d stand up to his own shit before he puked. I’d say make him wear the collar for a few months while random people hit the shock button. That’d be a hoot.
#12,
I’ve read a few articles about the Cultural Support Teams and Female Engagement Teams. The former are what you seem to be referring to, and must pass a short selection course and 6 weeks of training: http://www.soc.mil/swcs/cst/about.html
The latter accompany regular Infantry and other units on patrols and engage local citizens. http://www.army.mil/article/59144/
The Soldiers that serve in the above capacities have my respect, but I am sure that few–if any–of them would try to pass themselves off as SF or combat arms, especially after seeing what we (Infantry, in my case) do on a daily basis. Also, while the CSTs are entriely voluntary, it seems that not all FETs are. Excerpt from the second link:
“‘My first reaction was fear,’ said Bobb, of when she found out she was being placed in a FET unit. ‘Front-line infantrymen are trained for that kind of situation, and we’re not. I’m a truck driver. I’m not used to carrying 10-15 pounds on my back and walk 25 miles. It’s going to be a challenge.'”
Many many years, ago a buddy of mine was in Division before he made it to group. Division was just authorized the raspberry beret. He was awaiting his flight from National (now Reagan) to go back to Bragg due to a Pentagon briefing. Wearing his dress greens, he went to get a newspaper, and a lady came up to him and asked him if he was a “Green Beret.”
I carried Recon in my Amtrac does that count?
Here’s an idea, take him to this little island off of South Carolina and their are some guys there with these wide brimmed hats that will thrash this fat f¥€k til he’s puking up his worthless balls. This douche is in serious need in some ‘wall to wall counseling’. Any volunteers?
I’m not used to carrying 10-15 pounds on my back and walk 25 miles.
10-15 pounds? Since when is an infantry loadout 10-15 pounds? I’m a squid, but I remember boonie stomping in PI with more beer and smokes than that.
The media doesn’t get a pass from me.
They are supposed to be smart enough to figure this out, but they choose to sensationalize it by using SF term. They claim they just report what they are told, but then bury half the information they are told.
They also like to play innocent victim and expect us to consider them intelligent. Hell they go to school for four years and get to make sloppy errors.
Nope…no pass from me.
They not only “play innocent victim” with their tripe, in many cases, if they don’t know something, they’ll just make shit up.
Pretty lame for someone with a “degree” in their chosen occupation.
It sells more papers and gets more eyes to the screen when they say “Green Beret guy” did this or that vs. Soldier…in the end that’s what they really care about $$$$.
Hey! I can spell Ranger. Gotta count for something.
#19,
That’s one reason I added that quote. I’ve never done a 25-miler with ruck; we wore the IBA and carried assault packs, weapons, and squad equipment. Ruck or not, it is far more than 15 pounds. Hell, an M4 with accessories and a basic load of ammo is more than that.
I played a ranger in a D&D game once while I was in the Army… does that count?
It’s sickening reading this story. However don’t really know the history behind this guy and what caused him to do such a horrific thing.
