There a Joke Here, Somewhere… I Hope?

| January 20, 2012

Everyone has heard about The White House helping China out by saying no to the Keystone Pipeline project.

Most have heard about The White House doing it’s damnedest to prevent the exploitation of both on-shore and off-shore oil and gas reserves in CONUS.

But I wonder if you’ve heard this tid-bit?

Cuba gives The Finger to the US! (my title).

Highlight 1:

Starting next week, Spanish oil giant Repsol YPF, working in partnership with Norway’s Statoil and ONGC Videsh, a unit of India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corp, is expected to drill at least two wells in Cuban waters about 70 miles from the Florida Keys.

Highlight 2:

The only part of the rig said to be American-made is the blowout preventer, the part that failed in the BP disaster.

Cuba is hoping oil will ease its chronic economic woes and bring energy independence. It currently receives 115,000 barrels a day from its oil-rich socialist ally Venezuela.

Chronic economic woes and energy independence? I know I’ve heard those words before? These stories have national security ramifications that are maybe less immediate than slashing the DOD budget… but hardly less important at that.

Folks, there has GOT to be a punch line coming?

The punchline is we borrow money from China to loan to Brazil to drill for oil so we can buy said oil and we pay the principal and interst to China. Wish I could claim that line but I saw it earlier today. That’s not just a big finger from Cuba but a high hard one from all concerned while we assume the grab ankles position.

Wooooooooaaah!!

The workers paradise has economic woes and energy dependance? Didn’t a communist dictator solve all their problems long ago? Isn’t everyone happy with their world class health care?

I thought all this time those ’57 Chevy’s rolled on banana oil…

I drink your milkshake!

I heard a snippet on F&F this morning that der Fuhrer Obama was blaming the Republicans for his decision to nix the pipeline. He cancels it and it’s the GOP’s fault?

UpNorth

Joseph @#4, yeah, that was his reasoning. His next campaign ad will point out how he was “rushed” by the GOP, so he had no choice but to nix the pipeline. He “only” had 60 days to dither over this, not the months he was allowed for Afghanistan. And, 17 of those 60 days were devoted to vacation in that Asian wonderland, Hawaii. How’s a guy to concentrate, what with football in the surf and screwing up the schedule of an entire USMC base and local communities?

Joseph Brown

Yeah, North, it’s hell with all that extra stuff der Fuhrer has to put up with, like you said, surf football and etc. But according to that slimey bastard Carney, he’s not spending alot of time campaigning, he’s just kind of taking it easy. Must be nice, huh?

UpNorth

Yeah, perusing his schedule for today, there was nothing…
yesterday was a hectic day, though.
12:05am Arrive at Andrews
12:20am Arrive at the White House
10:15am Meet with the SoS
5:05pm Meet with “senior advisors”
Hell, he didn’t even get the PDB.
But, Thursday, he had 4 campaign events, in NYC, after delivering “remarks” that will “significantly help boost tourism and travel”. At Disney World!!!
I’m sure glad that he’s focused, laser-like, on jobs.

The punchline is sitting in the oval office.
