Germans to honor AF SSGT for apprehending terrorist

| January 13, 2012

I’m sure you remember the terrorist attack at Frankfurt’s airport which took the lives of 2 airmen and wounded two others last March, Well the German government is honoring two Americans with Germany’s Federal Cross of Merit, one is Air Force Staff Sergeant Trevor Brewer, 23, for helping to apprehend the little shit, Arid Uka (Stars & Stripes link);

During the trial, Brewer testified that, after the gun jammed, he pursued the fleeing gunman and chased him into the airport, where he saw Uka surrounded by airport police.

On Monday, German Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich is to present Brewer and Lamar Joseph Conner, an American who appears to have no connection to the U.S. military, with the federal cross of merit for “extraordinary efforts against an Islamist motivated terrorist deed,” according to a ministry press release.

Thanks SSG Brewer for making the world a bit safe disregarding your own safety.

That’s how it’s done. Someone please tell me why doing the same thing to a fucking terrorist on the battlefield requires mirandizing before knocking them on their ass?

UpNorth

Wait, the Germans identified “an Islamist motivated terrorist deed”? Take note Barry, Bite-Me, Shrillary, Nappy and Holder. There really are Islamic terrorists in the world.

Dogrease

Hey Hussein, “Islamic Terrorist” again “Islamic”

NHSparky

You mean it wasn’t, “workplace violence?”

USMC Chris

wait a second… he’s a 23 year old Staff Sergeant?

NHSparky

It is, Jonn. I made E-5 when I was 22, E-6 when I was 25. I’ve seen E-5’s as young as 19 in the nuke pipeline.

Bobo

Yeah, Sparky, those damned skewed nuke promotion rates.

NHSparky

Not much anymore. When I got out, it was damned near impossible to make E-7. Frankly, when you’re in a tech field, there’s not a whole lot of reason to stay in past the first enlistment.

Then again, there’s a lot of infantry who are making E-5/6 pretty fast too.

Cedo Alteram

“Germany’s Federal Cross of Merit” sounds like a German civilian version of the ARCOM.

““extraordinary efforts against an Islamist motivated terrorist deed,”” Double note here. First that they actually used Islam as a motivation, second it was done by the Germans of all people.

Doc Bailey

Always good to see servicemen doing good works. Even if he was a Zoomie.

Athena

Seems like a BS reward considering the Germans won’t allow our people to be armed.

Trevor Brewer

Yes I am a 23 year old Staff Sergeant (E-5) I actually sewed on when I was 21. I came in the military when I was 17.

Trevor Brewer

I am not a Zoomie, I am a member of the Air Forces Security Forces, not a pilot or a desk jockey.

Hondo

Trevor Brewer: calm down, fella. Members of the other services often refer to members of the USAF as “zoomies”. I’m pretty sure no offense was intended.

Thanks for doing the right thing here. That took balls; you have our respect.

Frankly Opinionated

HOOAH Trevor, just HOOAH! And yes, to those of us not in AF Blue, you will be called a “Zoomie”, but we do it with respect to your branch. E-5 at 21 shows that you are something of an achiever. Thank you for your service, and thank you for defending me and mine.
AF Security Forces,,, Don’t most of your AF dog handlers fall within that blanket. My hat is off to them, for sure.

OWB

Hang in there, Trevor!

Thanks, from another Airman, retired. Yes, I have the highest regard for Security Forces, my original AFSC. Back in the Dark Ages.

Can’t explain this zoomie thing. Doesn’t sound very complimentary, but who knows. Not gonna loose any sleep over it.

FO -Air Force dog handlers always have been within Security Forces. Safe to assume that they still are? Probably.
