Thank you, come again

This is brilliant; the Obama Administration plans to install unmanned self-service kiosks along our southern border monitored by border agents hundreds of miles away from the crossing point according to an Associated Press link from Old Trooper;

By the spring, kiosks could open up in Big Bend National Park allowing people from the tiny Mexican town of Boquillas del Carmen to scan their identity documents and talk to a customs officer in another location, at least 100 miles away.

The crossing, which would be the nation’s first such port of entry with Mexico, has sparked opposition from some who see it as counterintuitive in these days of heightened border security. Supporters say the crossing would give the isolated Mexican town long-awaited access to U.S. commerce, improve conservation efforts and be an unlikely target for criminal operations.

Damned right wing rethuglicans, can’t they see how intuitive this administration is? It’s not like there’s millions of Mexicans trying to get into this coutnry illegally or anything…so why shouldn’t we make it easier for them to come here and spend their millions in our country?

“. . . and be an unlikely target for criminal operations.”

Yeah. Mexicans will to go to an unmanned kiosk, in the middle of nowhere, where there are no law enforcement officials within 100 miles. That’s not going to attract rapists or muggers or slavers.

Kind of like a fatal funnel for immigrants. Brilliant.

@1: Not to mention the drug mules and those on this side waiting in pickups to get the drugs or prospective jihadis that pay the drug cartels huge dough in order to be smuggled across our border (but that never happens).

Welcome to schizophrenic hell…

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

The concept is dumb but in the context of this location it makes a little bit of sense. I’ve been there… there is absolutely nothing. The only reason the town existed was because the tourists at the park would take a raft across the river and then a donkey ride to town to drink a beer. There are so few roads in and out of this area that it is easier for the border patrol to have their checkpoints further in. You can’t go off road out there without destroying your vehicle – it would be pretty difficult for bad guys to get past unless they wanted to walk 150 miles across some of the most awful terrain in the southwest.

Sense? How long will it take before the wires are cut or the kiosk itself is simply stolen? This is brilliant. Put this on the list with reuseable toilet paper.

The KIOSK asks a series of questions of our foreign guests. I got a sneak peek at one of them and a friend of mine translated it for me. Here it is:

3. Purpose of Visit to US (Please indicate all that apply):

A. Rob Gringos

B. Attend College for Free

C. Purchase Guns from ATF

D. Smuggle Drugs

E. Vote

Obama will send 10 teams of ACORN voter registrars to man those kiosks. The DNC will provide dry towels.

@5: If the terrain is so bad, and no one can get there to begin with; why have a border crossing, manned or unmanned, there in the first place?

So glad to see Obama is taking boarder security seriously. I was really worried after he sued Arizona, and Alabama over their immigration laws, refused to complete the fence, refused to contemplate comprehensive Immigration reform, or had DOJ that pretty much armed the Mexican Cartels for a war.

For a second I was almost worried there.

The Feds have absolutely no intentions of enforcing the border. Just another gimmick to make the problem go away until the next election. Sorta like the cooing a few days ago about illegal crossings being way down under Obama, another complete lie. The illusion was created by selective enforcement and accounting tricks.
