Kenya requests US help in Somalia
I hope they’re not holding their breath (LA Times link);
Administration officials are considering the request, which came through the State Department, to provide military surveillance and reconnaissance that could include imagery from drone aircraft. Such aid would represent a significant expansion of U.S. involvement in the chaotic East African nation.
Given this administration’s famous dithering strategy, it could take months for them to decide whether or not they want to support African forces arrayed against the al Qaeda-linked Shabab. Cuz, you know, the war against terror is just a jingle that the neo-cons sing when they need defense spending.

Then again, maybe the Ditherer-in-Chief has a soft spot in his heart for Kenya? Maybe all those troops leaving Iraq will end up in sub-Saharan Africa?
No, he wants to spread the military thinner. He’ll send fresh troops, probably National Guard. That way, when he decided to reorganize the USA into the First American Empire, her defenders will be unable to stop him.
Sort of a non-story….we’ve been supporting Kenyan efforts in southern Somalia for some time now, stretching back to the previous Administration, which ironically had a dithering problem as well, just not as well publicized.
Yeah. . . not so much CI. I’m not going to even start with this. Gothic Serpent Part II anyone?
Didn’t we already do Somalia and decide it was too much trouble? Oh yeah, that’s right. I buried a friend (Bull Briley) after the Clinton’s decided the troops didn’t need tanks.
Sorry Kenya…..you invaded Somalia. You figure it out.
