32 Still Standing.
Since two years have passed since the shootings at Fort Hood one of the surviving is working to make sure that the survivors are remembered and not forgotten. The founder, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher Royal.
is calling the group “32 Still Standing”.
“Being from Alabama I’ve been taught that when you find something that is broken, you fix it so that’s what 32 Still Standing is about – we’re just trying to take care of each other,” said CW3 Royal.
Royal’s running to raise funds to help with anything from victim’s medical bills, to scholarships for their children.
But even with the injuries and effects of that day, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher Royal offered these words.
As for Stephanie who remembers November 5th all too well, the anniversary won’t be a time to remember the fear, but to celebrate all the survivors who are still standing.
“This was the chance to actually do it. Something to push you over the edge, you know you’ve been thinking about it, talking about. Just do it. So we’re doing it.”

I’m still pissed about that whole thing. So many reasons that guy should have been chaptered out, if not investigated for ties to terrorism. And yet no one did anything about it.
Was that two years ago already? Sheesh.
I heard about it at work first because our parent Brigade was at Fort Hood. (36th Engineer Brigade)
Sharing and spreading the word, Sporkmaster. Thanks!
2# Hey Spork, am I missing something? What unit from that brigade is up in Alaska(did it move?)?
I was in the 11th Engineer Battalion when the Fort Hood shooting happened. All the unit senior leadership received a urgent message about a shooting at Fort Hood in 2009. I have been in a Meddac unit since Jan 2010.
Okay, thanks for the explanation. You deployed from Ft Hood then, but now are in Alaska? Is my understanding correct?
From Fort Benning, the 36th Engineer Brigade is the unit we fell under. It just happened to be at Fort Hood. Did a single mission with the 87th engineer company out of Fort Hood (Same Brigade). I have never been to Fort Hood since I have been in the Army.
6# Sorry, guess it was at Benning at the time. Just took a relook at page.
Ha! Both responsed in same minute.
My old CO, Maj Richter was there. Kicked the gun out of Hassan’s hands, and might actually be the reason he is still alive to stand trial. Got a soldier’s medal for it.
Guy sounds like a bad John Wayne impression, but as a CO, few better.
