I Don’t Much Care About Sports.

| September 26, 2011

To be filed under this geezer’s guidelines. This is a real, if rather public, attempt to establish my personal aims.

Some here follow sports. I don’t! Well I do care a bit about high school level stuff.

Pro sports are a business first. No remotely a bad thing, but I don’t follow Wall Street as a fan either.

College level sports are almost as bad. Any given player may, or may not, be from the state fronting the team.  That’s even ignores the periodic scandal involving pay for play.

I genuinely respect what other folks do, if they do it well… but that doesn’t mean I have to pretend interest.

If there’s a vet involved I’ll have a go, but otherwise… not so much.

YMMV

See? That wasn’t really so difficult. 😉

Oh, and I agree. But, I will have to admit that my right knee works pretty well these days because of surgical advances made on professional athletes.

Balderdash!

I spend all year waiting for 16 sweet weeks of college football.

Only women’s beach volleyball keeps me sane in the months leading back up to fall.

@3 Zero P – I get that. The older a player gets [and once they start getting paid], the less risks they take, and the less exciting the football is.

I grew up as a die hard, never fail, quaker-backer Oregon Ducks fan. I bleed green and yellow.

If I could get Hurling on cable, I’d have two sports to follow voraciously.

I don’t give a flying fig for any of it, either … EXCEPT ARMY-NAVY.

Go Army, Beat Navy … soon now, it’s going to happen soon now …

Frankly Opinionated

I laugh when I hear grown adults claim that this quarterback or that pitcher is his/her “hero”. Hero? Huh? My hero is just about any GI who has a deployment or two or three downrange.

Anyplace that can take a dog-killing felon and end up paying him $16 MILLION a year to throw a ball around pretty much gives me a case of the give-a-shits.
