9 Iranian naval ships have been destroyed and sunk, Trump says
By Beth Sullivan and J.D. Simkins
U.S. President Donald Trump announced Sunday that nine Iranian naval ships have been sunk as part of combat operations against Iran.
“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important,” Trump wrote in a post on X, adding that Iran’s naval headquarters has been “largely destroyed” in a different attack.
“We are going after the rest — They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also!” Trump wrote.
U.S. Central Command officials said earlier Sunday that an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette was struck by U.S. forces at the beginning of Operation Epic Fury.
“The ship is currently sinking to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman at a Chah Bahar pier,” the statement reads. “As the president said, members of Iran’s armed forces, IRGC and police ‘must lay down your weapons.’ Abandon ship.”
The IRIS frigate Jamaran was commissioned in 2010 and is considered one of Iran’s more capable warships. Was, anyway. Sunk at pier-side.

Insh’allah, motherfuckers.
And to think that just a few years ago, they were braying about how they could take the USA on and win, forgetting that we don’t have a D-rat president anymore, nor some DC insider!
Soon to come, Pax Americana
Not sure they “float” at the bottom of the sea. Not sure if they were “important” either. We are talking about 60+ year old obsolete vessels that were little more than floating targets for air power. Still, danger to local shipping was the threat. Very soon Iran will no longer be a significant threat to peace and stability to the region (and the world) for the first time since 1979.
Symbolically sinking the navy has to sting a little. Soon every tool they have will be on fire or broken.
So far Kuwait has accounted for more air craft shoot downs than the entire country of Iran. They dropped 3 US F15E Strike Eagles getting ready to land at Ali Salam AB. All crews recovered safely but it would be nice to have those planes back.
3 US F-15s mistakenly shot down by Kuwait but all crew safe
Any ship they have, regardless of how old poses a threat. Nothing to keep them from loading the boat to the gills with explosives and sending on a suicide/ martyr mission to inflict as much damage on us as possible. If we learned anything from Iraq and Afghanistan, it should be don’t trust the fuckers and deny them any opportunity to have or make weapons.
“Not sure they “float” at the bottom of the sea.”
Seems like the would make great artificial reefs no matter how the got there. Don’t really care, but hopefully they had some crew aboard.
When Trump said “float,” I think he meant it ironically.
More like:
Oh hell yeah, I’m jealous that I didn’t think of that!
Fish gotta eat too
2026-2010=60? Otherwise agree!
The Alvand class frigates were last built in the UK in the 60s. Iran reversed engineered them to make a few more in the early 2000s. I suppose they were updated somewhat to make the Moudge it’s own class with some assistance from Russia to have updated weapons systems but it is still quite an old design. Like most things Iran makes, they tend to be less effective.
Several of the newer vessels had sunk or were severely damaged years before the war started through misadventure and poor seamanship.
While officially Frigates they are more like Corvette size and capability they seldom leave the Gulf or the coast of Iran. By comparison a single Legend Class USCG Cutter has displacement three times the size of an Iranian Frigate while also being a Frigate itself.
The things one learns at VG…
Kuwait……dropped 3 US F15E Strike Eagles getting ready to land at Ali Salam AB….
I did a 10 month tour near there at Camp Beuhring, and during that I never saw any Kuwaiti Military Personnel that impressed me, they nearly all had the attitude that we were there to wait on them, and it was like they had forgotten just who liberated them from Sadaam Hussein. My bet is that whoever fired on our planes is connected enough that they’ll get away with it.
I’m didn’t even know Kuwait had a military. Figured they’d just pay Filipinos to do it like everything else in Kuwait.
Prior to 1990 about 50% of their army were foreign mercenaries. After the war it was required to be at least 90% Kuwaiti by law. A private in the Kuwait Army makes $30k-55k.
Since the 90s they have hired a lot of “contractors”. A Westerner will make at least $100K and others significantly less.
F*cked up… still better than Iran could do.
I’m sure DJT will send the Kuwaiti government a bill to replace 3 F15E’s with 3 brand new F15EX’s.
Let’s hope so
The check is in the mail!
Give no Quarter, Take no Quarter.
At current exchange rates, that US Quarter is worth 328,688 Iranian Rials.

I don’t care where the Iranian navy floats, as long as it isn’t at the surface.
I wonder if the squids on the remaing ships are running sinking pools on the time and date they will be sunk. we had anchor pools on board but I never won anything, and am thinking why the deck apes seem to win all the time…seems like the guy hitting the pelican hook with the sledge hammer won a few times.
Please say again in infantry.
I speak jive. In an anchor pool participants pitch in an agreed amount of greenbacks, and everyone gets a time marker. When the ship arrives at its destination the time the anchor is dropped- assisted by blows with a hammer on the release mechanism, is noted and the closest marker gets the pool. Obviously the guy with the hammer would have an edge here.
Garbled in translation. You failed to use the word “fuck” in place of a comma, or the word “fuckin” as an adjective.
Aw1ed had a meme some days back that showed the difference between navy ship folks who saw sunshine v those that didn’t. Were you part of the upstairs navy or part of the basement navy.

I read this, in Frank’s voice…
” Any Allied personnel, Any Allied personnel…Saw Ships, Sank Same”
The saying actually originated in WWII with Donald Mason who reported “sighted sub, sank the same”; during the Battle of the Atlantic 1942.

Last night I watch Greyhound for the first time. While the story is fictional it is based on realistic WWII Atlantic convoy operations and was quite good. A lot of the filming was done on the USS Kidd (with a lot of help from CGI), one of the last surviving WWII destroyers currently laying in Baton Rouge. I must say the pucker factor had to have been 10/10, especially in those early days of the war.
If you haven’t seen the film yet it is worth a watch.
Guess I can’t claim “Damn the torpedoes” either.
Greyhound is a good flick, despite Hanks being the oldest destroyer skipper, ever. Ancient Mariner there.
You want to talk about Senior Citizen crew members? The enlisted crew on PT 73 were closer to drawing Social Security than puberty. Funny show, though.
Well, that is certainly great news to hear today. I’d say something about Davy Jones accepting the Iranian sailors, but he doesn’t want their hides. Neither does God or the devil for that matter.
They are in Davy Jones’ goat locker.
Heh. Navy Chiefs, he means well. Not YOUR Goat Locker.
*grin*
In Navyspeak the Goat Locker is the CPO mess, a place where an invite is a rare honor, and that slackers dread.
Neptune has ‘em shoveling whale shit.
Word has it that the Iranian Navy is rushing to install glass panels on the bottoms of the hulls of their vessels so they can view the rest of their fleet!
Get some!

That old childhood game, and cry of disbelief…. you sank my battle ship. All of them.
The four Kidd-class DDGs in Taiwan are breathing a collective sigh of relief.
