On that speech last night

| September 9, 2011

I didn’t watch the President’s address to Congress and the nation last night, mostly because I knew what he was going to say. Since I don’t believe he can do much to create jobs, what’s the use of wasting time I could be reading more interesting fiction instead. I also got an email from him just before the speech which revealed his real reason for his proposals last night;

Jonn —

I’m about to head to the Capitol to ask Congress to act on my plan to put Americans back to work.

Before I do, I wanted to write you directly to remind you that the fight to create jobs — and provide the kind of economic security for middle-class families that’s been slipping away over the last decade — won’t begin or end with the speech I give tonight.

What happens will be up to you. In the coming days and weeks, it will be up to you to pressure Congress to act — or hold them accountable if they do not.

If you’re with me, let me know. And the campaign will make sure you are looped into our efforts to support this plan.

Talk to you soon,

Barack

He’s only trying to shift blame for the economy onto Congress before the next election. He knows Congress won’t approve his proposal given the current climate to balance the budget, so when they don’t pass it, he can blame Congress.

Even the Associated Press says that his proposals aren’t “paid for” as he claimed;

Essentially, the jobs plan is an IOU from a president and lawmakers who may not even be in office down the road when the bills come due. Today’s Congress cannot bind a later one for future spending. A future Congress could simply reverse it.

So the Republicans were set up last night.

John-
I wanted to write to you directly by sending this personalized mass email to about 16 million people. But since I have your name at the top, it’s not really spam.

Thanks,

As I’ve stated elsewhere, exactly what justified calling a joint session of Congress for what basically amounted to a campaign commercial with free airtime?

Pass it now–I heard that phrase a lot. Exactly why, Barry? So we can’t see what a steaming turd THIS bill is as well? Newsflash–the last bill didn’t work for those not in a public sector union, this one won’t either.

He needs to be stopped and, then, he just needs to be gone.

“So the Republicans were set up last night.”

Ya think? It’s been a set up for weeks, yet the dumbass gop keeps going back for more.

I was asked what I thought about those republicans that were skipping the speech; whether I thought it was disrespectful. I replied that what Bobo was going to do was the disrespectful part. He was going to call them all together to scold the republicans for not passing everything he puts in front of them and do it on live tv to the nation. Why would someone want to sit there through that? It was nothing more than a televised campaign prank.

Sure am glad he was able to squeeze America in between his golf outings, million-dollar shopping sprees with Michelle, and vacations among the richest citizens.

By the way, the Senate, in a 45 to 52 vote, approved raising the debt ceiling another $US 500bn. The Dems just aren’t serious.

And, I heard Rep. Andrews, D-NJ, on Fox this a.m., saying over and over, we have to pass this now, right now. What’s the rush, is this another bill that has to be passed so we know what’s in it?
DaveO, I heard that, but not on any of the LSM outlets. Now, I’m waiting for a certain poster to tell us that there is no lefty bias in the LSM.

“Congress cannot bind a later one for future spending…” Correct. And the politicians have actually learned that. Their solution is to simply “party” now, and let someone else pay the bill later — they don’t care who.

It’s shoplifting writ large.

I say lets start with something as simple as a freeze in spending, but by Washington standards and baseline budgeting, that’s really a spending cut, and we just can’t do that. Haven’t Republicans learned we always get the spending and tax increases, but the REAL spending cuts never seem to materialize (unless you’re the Pentagon…).

Only a functional retard would include UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS in a JOBS program bill.

Dear God, 2013 can’t come fast enough. Dump the chump.

So the republicans moan and grown that the president is not doing anything yet when he stands up and speaks to the world you complain that its self motivated. The republicans constantly block anything the president wants and the refuse to listen to the majority of the American people and would rather vote on things like our national motto. Yea republicans are really doing a good job. Your right I can’t wait till 2013 either but that’s because if the best the GOP can come up with is 3 guys who are each in their own way a JOKE
