Beware!
This story is all over the web: Homeland Security Depicts Terrorists as White Americans .
That sort of ‘viral’ thing doesn’t usually rise to TAH standards, but lets face it; the finger is pointing at US so it makes some sense as comment fodder anyway.
A video released by the Department of Homeland Security urging people to report anything suspicious has caused outrage by characterising white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists.
The promotional video is part of Homeland Security’s $10million ‘See Something, Say Something’ programme as they believe it will help curb random acts of terrorism by individuals.
But the controversial video has angered some Americans due to the fact all the actors who play the would-be terrorists in the video are white, and the people who report them are either black, Asian or Arab.
What would happen – it is asked – if it was the other way about?

I wonder what beef some white, middle class Americans had with the Norwegian government this morning?
Arby,
I know you meant it in jest but in fact several European media types are bringing up the possibility of the attack being carried out by far right wing groups.
Listened to Professor of Peace, yes actual title, from Bradford University in London who mentioned 3 groups. Islamics, far right wingers or Libyans. When pushed on the far right wing angle by on air teleprompter reader to name some groups in Norway that would fit the description he responded by saying he wasn’t aware of any.
You got that right. He wasn’t aware of any violent extremist right wing groups in Norway but he was still putting them on his list of possible suspects. He went on to try and draw parallels to the Baader-Meinhof gang while forgetting to mention that Baader-Meinhof were a far left wing socialist terrorist group.
Actually, Homeland Security probably said f**k it to “engaging in discourse” with the likes of CAIR, and just went with the ‘safe’ tactic of making the ‘bad guys’ white.
But hey, there are white extremists in the U.S. too right?
Tman – it’s disrespectful to call MSNBC’s lineup “white extremists.” They hired Al Sharpton, so they’re balanced now.
White extremists in the U.S. Youbetcha. He’s running around in the wilds of Montana out there in the Bitterroots. Law enforcement last saw him as he ran into the woods. He was so dangerous they left him there.
Come on now, the majority of people in America are so tuned out they won’t let go of their remotes long enough to go vote. Just throw them a little entertainment to distract them and you’ll keep the natives calm for “evah”.
So, even the DHS won’t let go of that biased bullshit report written for them by the fuckstains at SPLC from a couple years ago, eh? Still trying to push that tired old narrative around by making all the bad guys white. So, they show headlines of Teddy and Timmy as their evidence that all the terror attacks are by whiteboys. I guess it’s time to write my congresscritter, again.
One thing about having been to Iraq, I’m always looking around, always checking for where the attack might come. I think that is one of the side effects of dealing with insurgency, versus the large force on force battles, but I’m always checking the security around me, because complacency kills.
What do I see? If one solves the logistical problems of getting guns ammo, and other supplies, it would be laughably easy to do damage. Americans do not have it in their minds that there is even a threat to them, and thus are not conscious of how vulnerable they are. We do not have the problems that Europe does, and likely soon will. But the cracks are forming, and it is clear that we are woefully ignorant of just how bad things are. Worse our own mindset will not allow us to truly target those we must, because it would be a PR nightmare.
Doc, you hit square in the black. After looking at the Gunrunner fiasco, you can see just how easy it is to move arms across our southern border. Arms & troops as well.
You are right, and there are too many folks who will succumb to a false sense of security brought about through complacency.
AW1 Tim, you got right.
Especially if it done as a replay like “Pearl Harbor,” except instead of a Sunday Morning, its done when American Idol or NFL – you get my drift.
