Feds rescreening Iraqi immigrants
Apparently, a light bulb went on somewhere and federal authorities are reviewing the records of Iraqi immigrants over the last several years to see if al Qaeda exploited US immigration policy to ship agents to the US (Stars & Stripes link);
The rescreening began late last year after the FBI learned that an Iraqi man in Kentucky had participated in roadside bomb attacks in Iraq before he was granted U.S. political asylum in 2009. He and another Iraqi refugee were arrested in an FBI sting in May on charges of trying to send explosives and missiles to Iraq for use against Americans.
So far, immigration authorities have given the FBI the names of about 300 Iraqi refugees for further investigation. The FBI won’t say whether any have been arrested or pose a potential threat.
Better late than never I guess. I wonder how many lawyers are planning a “profiling” defense.

If you could only see the level of corruption within the Iraqi Customs and Immigration Department. As a Transition Team member, I found 14 entry and exit stamps that had been “lost”, yet they kept showing up on fraudulent passports, including the new G series passport that is approved for international travel. There is no way that this slip up was accidental. Everyone who needed to know about the Iraqi passport office and their immigration services knew that it was corrupt. Furthermore, all of those “immigrants” were vetted against American and Iraqi classified databases using classified biometric data. The terrorists made it into America because someone or some group of people wanted them to get in. The search for the guilty parties should turn inward, not outward.
