DoJ’s new rule ignores their culpability
Old trooper sends a link to a Fox News article about the Justice Department’s new rule to burden gun retailers with record keeping and reporting to the government about frequent buyers of scary looking guns, while ignoring their own culpability in the “Fast and Furious” project. The Brady Campaign likes it, so you know you won’t;
“This new reporting rule will give law enforcement new capacity to interdict these deadly guns before they can be used against Mexican police and citizens.”
But the National Rifle Association (NRA) said it plans to sue the administration over the rule.
“This is a blatant effort by the Obama administration and ATF to divert focus of Congress and the general public from their gross incompetence in the Fast and Furious scandal,” NRA executive director Chris Cox said in a statement.
“This scheme will unjustly burden law-abiding retailers in border states,” he said. “It will not affect drug cartels and it won’t prevent violence along our borders.”
It won’t affect the cartels because law-abiding gun retailers weren’t allowed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to stop straw purchases in their shops .

Have you seen this yet? Apparently Project Gun Runner has been tied to Obama, like everyone believed it was. Not everything got flushed down the memory hole it seems.

This is going to make Watergate look like chump change if this gets rolling.
Tim, unlike Watergate, no one in the LSM is interested in this. Except as a means to further the agenda of the Brady Campaign, and the others. Don’tcha know, it was the fault of the gun show loophole, and the evil gun shop owners, and the people who own guns?/sarc
It’ll take a big hill and a huge push to get this rolling anywhere, and then it’ll still be Sarah Palin/Michelle Bachmann’s fault.
I have an idea, let’s blame the Mexican drug violence on ill gotten evil “assault weapons” purchased by the cartel folks at lazy, greedy, gun shops on the border, because all those gun shop owners care about is money, so they aren’t doing the reporting they are supposed to do and we can make a new rule to take care of the problem. Let’s forget that the gun shop owners followed the rules to begin with, but were told by the federal agency in charge of such things to let it happen.
Then, we can get that rule put in place to fool the masses into believing that it’s the evil gun shops that need to be restricted and soon we can take away those evil “assault weapons” too.
Tim: I’ll tell you why this won’t be bigger than Watergate and will barely show up on the radar; the President and Attorney General, along with the head of DHS, are all democrats and the msm doesn’t want them to look bad to the public. After all, there’s an election coming up next year. In truth, they should all be put in prison immediately. Just think how this story would have played out if it had been Bush and not Obama? The wailing and howling would be heard around the world.
The wailing and howling would be heard around the world.
Not to mention, OT, that the Senate would have already impeached Bush, not even waiting for the Articles of Impeachment from the House. Olberdork would have had a stroke, Chrissy Matthews would have drowned in his own spit, Larry O’Donnell would have appeared outside the White House, poster in hand, red bandana on his pointy head, kissing Dan Choi.
More stupidity. They already keep records up the ass as it is. Seems like they are just trying to deny private gun ownership through petty harassment.
Notify the government of those who frequently buy semiautomatic weapons, seems kinda like profiling to me.
