Doug Sterner; a hero’s hero

| June 14, 2011

The Washington Post did an interview with our buddy Doug Sterner. I call him a hero’s hero because he’s one of the few who stand up for the real heroes in spite of the criticism against him.

In this video, he explains why he does what he does. What he doesn’t mention is that he started in the business of hunting phonies when he caught someone who stole the valor of one of his friends who Sterner lost in Vietnam.

God bless men like Doug Sterner, who are willing to put themselves out there, and bring these phonies to light. Without his dedication and tenacity, we would have thousands more phonies, claiming false valor and reaping the accolades, recognition and benefits of being a ‘true’ hero. Without Mr. Sterner’s painstaking research and patient, there would be no kind of medals database compiled over years of research, something our own military has been unable to do. And let’s not forget we wouldn’t have the Stolen Valor Act, of which Mr. Sterner was one of the key architects of this vital legislation. Keep up the excellent work sir! And keep sticking your bayonet in the hindquarters of military frauds and phonies everywhere! Hoo-ah!
