Pissing up a rope as a strategy
Ponsdorf sends this link from The Long War Journal and Bill Roggio in regards to an Al Jazeera video in “Taliban occupy abandoned US outpost in Kunar”;
A commander identified as Mullah Muhibullah claimed the Taliban will establish “a permanent base” there, swore allegiance to Mullah Omar, and said his forces will continue to attack US troops until they “reach the gates of America.”
“We will have a permanent base here and we will maintain control of it,” Muhibullah told Al Jazeera. “As long as our commander, Mullah Omar, is alive and our guide, we will fight for him. The infidels failed to hold this outpost. Our jihad against American troops will continue, and one day we will reach the gates of America.”
Another commander identified as Intiqam said the Taliban have imposed sharia, or Islamic law, in the area, and he twice denied any links to al Qaeda.
Funny how the same politicians who ridiculed the Bush Administration for not accomplishing much in Afghanistan are undertaking the same strategy.
Roggio points out that “The fighters do not appear concerned about being targeted by Afghan or US ground or air forces.” Almost as if they know they’re not being observed or targeted.
Again, it looks as if our strategy is withdrawal at any cost.

First point: yeah, you’ll have it until we decide to come back and kill every fucking one of you.
Last point (reach the gates of America): bring it , bitches.
Listening to the strains of Stuck Mojo… “Open Season.”
Uh… not particularly work friendly, with anti-islamothug themes.
Just sayin’.
Love that song, Lt! It’s been a while since I’ve heard it.
Dirka-dirka, Mohammed jihad, motherfuckers.
Hopefully this is some new tactic being tried. Abadon the base. Let the Taliban occopy it and ignore them for a month or two until they get comfy. Drop JDAM. Repeat as needed? Or am I being too optimistic?
“Or am I being too optimistic?” J.M., man I hope not. I think your plan should be adopted all over the Stan. I think it would pay immense benefits, but I doubt that the folks currently in power have the stones for it.
Hey Jonn I think you already posted this a few days ago. I even think I wrote a comment on it.
