Obama losing his grip

Being a big Obama supporter, I always get these personal emails from the campaign which understands me so well. Today’s gem you can believe in (I hate ending a sentence with a preposition);

John McCain and the Republican National Committee are trying to convince you that you’ve been swept up and tricked into wanting change.

Naw, we’ve been tricked into believing that we want the kind of change Barack and Michele want to inflict upon us.

They want you to believe that everything is just fine — that we need to stay the course and elect someone who’s voted with George Bush 95% of the time.

51% of the country approved of George Bush and the job he was doing in 2004, why would the Obama campaign think things have changed? Why are they trying to drag President Bush into the campaign?

To sell this ridiculous idea, McCain and the RNC are using huge checks from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs to run negative ads attacking Barack Obama and the millions of volunteers and donors who have joined this campaign for change.

Naw, he’s just attacking the moon-eyed rubes who think that Obama is any different than anyone else who aspires to the presidency. And those goobers who write these stupid emails. By the way, I proved yesterday that Obama has been taking PAC and special interest money for the last two years, despite the denials of his campaign. Luckily, they can lie to voters, but not to the FEC.

While supporters like you are out knocking on doors, registering new voters, and organizing in your local communities, our opponents are not even trying to match your efforts. Instead, they’re spending millions to spread the smear that Barack is just a “celebrity” and that our grassroots movement is just a bunch of mindless fans.

His campaign is hardly a”grassroots campaign” I doubt George Soros has ever seen grassroots. Those elitist boobs at MoveOn have nothing in common with working people. Those professional activists and campaigners wouldn’t know a day’s work if it bit them.

So who is John McCain really attacking? Real people like Brandon, a carpenter from McCall, ID. Stephanie, a registered nurse from Phoenix, AZ. And Pamela, a retired teacher from Franklin, WV.

I didn’t hear him mention any of those people in his ads, however, America Accountable is threatening all of us small time Republican donors – that’s one of your affiliated groups, Democrats. So who is really being attacked here?

McCain is trying to undermine your hope, and we can expect even more misleading attack ads in the weeks ahead. His friends in Big Oil and other special interests are more than happy to keep fueling his efforts with huge checks. They want to keep Washington just the way it is.

Today, you can show John McCain that his attacks won’t slow us down. In fact, his attacks will make us even more determined to build and strengthen this movement.

That’s probably the most pathetic part of the whole email. How can you undermine someone’s hope with an ad? If Obama’s supporters are so shallow that an ad can “undermine” their hope, the whole campaign is built on a house of cards. What about Obama’s friends in Big Oil? He’s received more money from oil execs and employees than McCain.

Jonathon Martin at Politico writes that they’ve got a new label for McCain trying to counter McCain’s “celebrity” charge;

Either Obama’s campaign didn’t quite know how to respond or didn’t initially think it necessary to push back against McCain’s “Celebrity” rap.

But now, two weeks later, they’re going on the air seeking to turn the attack around on the Republican, calling McCain “Washington’s biggest celebrity.”

In other words; I know you are, but what am I?
