Senate avoids important stuff
So while the Senate investigates why our intelligence agencies didn’t anticipate the drama unfolding in the middle east, and they point fingers at the FBI and the Army for their failures in the Hasan murders, natural gas supplies are dwindling in the southwest. From Associated Press;
With tens of thousands of people across New Mexico without natural gas service, Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday declared a state of emergency, ordered government offices be shut down Friday and urged schools to “strongly consider” remaining closed for the day.
Demand has soared because of extremely cold weather across the state since Tuesday. New Mexico Gas Company said rolling blackouts in West Texas also impeded the delivery of natural gas to New Mexico.
From Fox Phoenix;
Southwest Gas is working to restore service to about 14,000 Southwest Gas customers out of luck Thursday due to the unseasonably cold weather.
Southwest Gas customers in the Rita Ranch and eastern foothills areas of Tucson are experiencing a natural gas outage.
Can you imagine? A natural gas shortage in the United States? With untapped reserves inside our own borders. I filled my propane tank Wednesday and the cost was almost 100% higher than it was when I last filled it in September.
Drill here, drill now.
Category: Congress sucks
There IS a silver lining of sorts to this and the rolling brownouts in Texas, etc.
At some point many of the enviro-nitwits will freeze their asses off, or not be able to use their computers when electricity goes away to complain about global warming. Then maybe, just maybe, they’ll see the real connection.
Could this be part of Ears’ master plan? Put up those solar panels, and build those windmills, that’s the way to the future./sarc.
I checked out the prices of propane the other day, and I was shocked to see how much it had gone up, since my last fill-up.
Concur, Drill Here, Drill Now.
Kind of like when we were broadsided when Pakistan and India both conducted nuclear weapons tests in the same year?
UpNorth #2: I actually want them to drill near here and drill now.
Aside: Not a NIMBY suggestion. They are surveying my place just now AND I own the mineral rights. It’s a long story, but they drill for gas just off my patch, go horizontal, and I get royalties. Unless some asshat in DC says no… As it is, I already have my own gas well keeping my lights lit and the house warm just fine. The other shoe is already out there and probably heading my way. “What? You can’t do THAT! Think of the damage you are doing to the environment!”
“Drill here, drill now.”
This is such a no-brainer, on multiple levels, I am at a loss as to how ANY thinking being is not getting it.
funny how all that works
OldSoldier54 #5: Some choose NOT to get it. Leave aside the limousine Liberal, it approaches The Silly in most cases.
It’s an OLD analogy, but ask yourself how many folks know where milk comes from?
Electricity and Natural Gas fit into that amorphous space.
Ignorance is bliss.
