Not the shooter’s fault
With this header on their front page of their webite, the Washington Post has clearly decided that it was weak gun laws and heated political rhetoric that killed six people in Tuscon the other day. In another article, Washington Post “reporters” disregard the fact that Pima County Law Enforcement did their best to keep Jared Luchner’s name out of any data base of criminals;
In recent years, Loughner has had run-ins with the police and military over alleged drug use, and gun-control activists said that the federal government isn’t doing enough to prevent drug abusers from getting firearms.
“The law says that drug abusers can’t buy guns,” said New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who also co-founded a gun-control organization of mayors. “Even though Jared Loughner was rejected by the military for drug use and arrested on drug charges, he was able to pass a background check and buy a gun.”
I did a criminal background check on Lochner Sunday and found one dropped unspecified charge from a neighboring county and a ticket for running a stop sign in Tucson. Nothing about the threats he’s supposedly phoned in around the county. The problem isn’t with the gun laws or background checks, it’s with the people who are supposed to be entering this information into the system so they can’t buy guns. The people who should be prosecuting offenders.
The Post continues;
Loughner bought the shotgun within a year of his rejection for enlistment in the U.S. Army and within a year of his arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records and military sources.
The implication, of course, is that the military should have alerted local police…but the local police are already aware of his drug use…what would have changed? Well, besides the ACLU crawling up the Army’s ass for releasing private information.
The solution would be that the police be forced to arrest everyone who breaks the law all of the time. Good luck with that one.

Bloomberg should be concentrating on the next snowstorm, not about his assinine biases against guns. He’s the moron that quickly labeled the Times Square bomber as a Tea Party member, before those damn facts got in the way, again.
I said it was gonna be a bumpy ride and it looks like the bumps are just starting.
I believe the Beatles are responsible for the Sharon Tate murders.
Why don’t they start looking at Sheriff DUPE-nik. If anybody could have stopped this, his office could of. Since he’s the “Captain” of the ship…maybe he needs to take some responsiblility. Naw…not this coward. Blame Limbaugh.
Honor and Courage (something dupnik needs)
Considering that the Pima Country SD didn’t do their job, maybe the sheriff ought to STFU, and stop providing a defense for Loughner.
,,,,,,,,Loughner, with his face swollen and bruised,,,,,,????? The Text should have been, “The corpse of Loughner with the face full of bullet holes, was propped up in front of the Safeway store where he chose to commit suicide.”
Is there anyone NOT to blame for what he did? Excluding him, of course…..
Not the tingly legged reporter, Matthews, not Olberdork the liar, no, only we of the right wing that he so blatently hated.
It is all about reducing the number of people who can legally buy firearms, regardless of whether there will be an actual reduction in gun violence.
Right now, people who are involuntarily submitted to treatment for substance abuse problems are prohibited from buying firearms. That caveat is in there so that people with alcohol, illicit drug, or prescription drug problems are willing to step forward and voluntarily seek help for addiction without losing their rights.
Now let’s say the law changes and people who submit voluntarily for treatment are barred Second Amendment rights, what do they think is going to happen? Do they think gun violence problems will get better or worse?
My guess is that fewer people will seek treatment voluntarily, retaining their right to buy a firearm, and then end up getting so deep into their addiction that it increases the likelihood of them acting out violently towards themselves or others. Any changes proposed by Bloomberg are likely to be counterproductive.
The latest news is that even the forum participants in a UFO conspiracy forum that Loughner frequented, considered him to be a nut case. Think about that for a moment…
Arby….. LMAO…….. If nut cases thinks he’s a nut, then that’s a serious case of nutcase!!
Wow, Arby!!! That says it all right there! LMAO!!!
This is yet another reason that I can not stand news these days, nor can most of the others that surf Milblogs. THERE IS NO PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY implied, sought, or seen anywhere in the media. This guy is a complete wacko, and people didn’t do enough to raise warning flags. Rather than accepting that they did wrong, people want to point the finger at everyone but themselves
He’s a complete whacko without a disqualifying criminal record… let’s see, more laws that won’t stop criminals and crazy people anyway (way to go, left/libtards).
From what I understand, he’s made death threats to the Pima Co. Sheriff, to people at the Pima Co Community College, To Gabrielle Giffords and a couple of others. He’s also been detained by the sheriff or local Tucson police. His mother works for Pima County. Is it possible that the sheriff was doing his mother a favor by covering the lunatic’s ass? All in all, this whole case smacks of a cover up and Loughner was mishandled by the Sheriff. There was plenty of reason to order a 72 hour hold for mental evaluation. Had the Pima County Sheriff been doing his JOB, I doubt that this would have ever happened. The Pima Co. Sheriff has also “lawyered up”, so that tells me there’s more to this than meets the eye.
