Fatwa issued against…well…someone

| September 14, 2010

The survivors of the Bronze Age who are currently members of Iran’s Grand Ayatollas have issued a fatwa against anyone who burns a Koran – ultimately resulting in the opportunity to have a target rich environment soon. The best way to get an American to do something is to threaten him.

No one was specified in the decrees, which were issued by Nasser Makarem-Shirazi and Hossein Nouri-Hamedani in response to questions asked by student groups from universities in Tehran, Fars said. Such an action against any individual could only be carried out with the authorization of an Islamic religious judge, they said.

“Undoubtedly, the blood of a person who burns the Koran should be shed,” Makarem-Shirazi was cited by Fars as saying. Everybody should “strongly condemn” such an act.

Undoubtedly. In fact, I think they ought to issue fatwas against anyone who buys me a beer. Or anyone who builds my garage.

Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

You ain’t lived till you’ve had fatwa issued against you. Probably the single best thing to happen to Rushdies’ book sales. What I find hilarious is the constant hectoring about how sensitive we are suppose to be to these barbarians.

Old Trooper

As long as people defend their behavior by equating it to the past; in that christianity and judaism had their barbaric moments centuries ago. So, we are to excuse them for their 8th century mentality while the rest of us are in the 21st century? Yeah, how’s that working out?

Southern Class

Well, I guess I am one of the afflicted. I burned a Qur’an today, yesterday, and will burn more in the future; in my mind. (Don’t “they” say that thinking it is as bad as doing it?)
Waaaaaahhhhhhhh.
But claiming women are the guilty party in their rape is just fine with the Apologists. Screwing young boys is fine, as is Labia lopping, Clitoris clipping, etc.
The ones who do the most to cover for those 7th century idiots would be the first ones to suffer under them.

OT: There is no religion walking that hasn’t had — and doesn’t still have — its barbaric moments. It’s ironic that the system we point to as our enlightenment is often the system we have to overcome to reach the enlightenment we seek.

SC: Female mutilation is supported by the women of the societies that practice it. It’s the WOMEN who perform this mutilation, with the men’s blessing, of course. Call it brainwashing or social conditioning or whatever, it’s the WOMEN who will have to wake up and stand up against this practice, as well as the men, before it dies its long-overdue death.

Of course mutilation is supported. It’s been beaten into their heads since they were born. rarely can a group of people or a person who’ve been crushed rise up without the help of a stronger person. I don’t mean governments. White people had to support emancipation. A woman who wanted the vote had to have been allowed the freedom to fight for it by her husband or father, and the financial support of them, too. (either in secret or not)
Maybe someone, somewhere, broke free without a cheerleader on the side screaming for them to win– but he’s rare, and I never met him. (I, for one, have had the benefit of one such cheerleader without whom I would have never had the courage to make changes in my life that impacted the lives of my children and me.)

Like SC said: But claiming women are the guilty party in their rape is just fine with the Apologists. Screwing young boys is fine, as is Labia lopping, Clitoris clipping, etc.

Riiiiight, Pinto, because I remember it like it was yesterday; the preacher told me that anyone that desecrates the bible needs to shed some blood. He was, of course, talking about when the palestinians were protesting and burning bibles, etc. Then there was the time that Maplethorpe had a fatwa put on his head by the Pope for the whole piss-Christ thingy. Yeah, there was rioting in the streets over THAT one.

Sorry, I’m not going to excuse the 8th century behavior of these cave dwellers. It’s the 21st century and they need to come into it and making excuses for their behavior by tying in the behavior of other religions in the past will not give them incentive to change.

Just like the stupid bimbo I heard on the radio, yesterday saying that radical muslims are the same as radicals that burn the koran. Yeah, suuuuuuure it is. Last time I checked, the radical muslims were all about beheadings and murder, not merely ripping a page or two out of a fricken book. Then she tried to say that Jones was a radical, yet I dont’ recall him saying anything like these muslim morons are advocating.

All anyone needs to use as an example is when Ayatollah kohmeni called for the death of Salman Rushdie for writing a fricken book critical of islam. Yeah, that’s grounds for killin’ right there.

You can’t put enough lipstick on that pig (pun intended) to get past their cave dwelling, knuckle-dragging mindset.

Boo: I agree with you. I, too, have been supported by those stronger than me, and was given the room to accomplish things I couldn’t have done, otherwise. Whether women wish to admit it or not, they still depend on men to give them freedom of movement in society. That will probably never change.

Trooper: I agree with you, too, and probably muddled my point. My point was that religion is the man-made structure used to put faith into practice; and we tend to abuse / misuse those things we create.
I have no affection for the Islamic faith. 9/11 and sites like “Bare Naked Islam” have convinced me that I don’t want to go there — ever. Believe me when I tell you that I would NEVER attempt to support, condone, or rationalize any of their violent, primitive behaviors.

Hmm….When I was a kid there was a scary looking man often in the news called “the” Ayotallah Khomeini. One of the very few things I remember about him? This guy is crazy. How little did I know…. And how far they have come.

lol and yet, it angers me anew each day! 🙂
