The magic wand administration
Just skimming the news tonight I found these two articles at the Washington Times;
Gulf ‘open for business,’ says Obama
President Barack Obama declared Gulf Coast beaches clean, safe and open for business Saturday as he brought his family to the Florida Panhandle and promised residents that the government wouldn’t forget them once efforts to stop the leak are finished.
Napolitano: Now with ‘enough’ border resources, time to reform
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Friday said the administration has “enough” resources to secure the border now that President Obama signed into law a $600 million border security spending bill, and she said Congress must now act on a larger overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws.
In the first story, Obama hadn’t been near the Gulf Coast since before the gushing leak had been capped, but his presence on the beach somehow magically makes all of the missteps of the government forgotten – like he waved a magic wand. In the Napolitano article, she hadn’t spent a dollar, hadn’t hired an agent, but somehow the immigration problem is solved…like, again, Obama had waved a magic wand.
I guess this another example of intentions being more important than actions. This is the same ignorant crap that got Clinton his second term.

They may be right when they say there are more Border Patrol than ever before, but whatever increases there still haven’t kept pace with the increase of the flood of illegal immigrants coming over the southern border… I want a teaching job, and I might be able to get one if I was willing to take a position along the Texas border, but I value my safety more than that…
How about ONE BILLION for the border or the Gulf? I know where I would like to put that wand of his.

And, then it’s off to Maine, to hang with the rich. After all, 27 hours are more than enough time to rub elbows with the unwashed peasants. Gotta get up there with the rich contributors.
That bothers me, too, Sparky. PC beaches were spared for the most part. Let’s see a shot of the prez swimming in the water off Dauphin Island, AL or even Gulf Shores. Someone needs to tell them that we really aren’t that dumb. We see right through their patronizing display of ‘support’.
And how about Mrs. O spending 5 days (and our money) on the Gulf Coast instead of Spain? It’s insulting.
There was no way obama was going to swim off gulf shores or dauphin island where tar balls are still washing up everyday.
PC beach has felt an economic impact but no where near what has happended on the beaches of al, ms and la.
It was just a photo op. With school started just about everywhere his encouragement to visit the beach will have no impact.
Clinton got a free ride because of the economic boom of the 1990’s. The press carried water for him, making a natural recovery look like his doing.
Yet the GOP got congress and beat down ALGORE in 2000.
This administration is whistling past the grave yard. Now that they’re in power, they think that the far left and the youth vote will carry them.
Let’s show them that the wand is broken.
I told my wife I bet he was in the bay and not the Gulf or they would have shown a much larger picture of the area.
The official picture was intended to provide evidence that the region’s beaches are back to normal. Yet it soon emerged that the private beach on which it was taken, off Alligator Point in St Andrew Bay, north-west Florida, isn’t technically in the gulf.
It is our representation that is broken. On immigration, the congress should enforce the laws that they passed because the US public wanted illegal immiration stopped. When was it 1985 the congress promised a one time amnesty for 3 million was needed to solve the problem. Then they told us that moving our industry and jobs to Mexico would stop the flow because they would have jobs there. What did US citizens get, less jobs and more illegal immigration. Now they tell us we owe 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants citizenship.
