Just because he disgraced his service by being a rapist and then lying about his deployments does not mean all people in the service are that way.

I dare IVAW to put this phrase front and center on their website. They put this tool on the board and stood by him as he called soldiers rapists and burned a flag. How about a little honesty in advertising for the sake of all those active duty folks who you were trying to recruit to your cause during fleet week or from visits to Under the Hood? Don’t you think they deserve to know exactly how their IVAW brethren regard them when they google your acronym? Matthis has said this enough that its safe to say it’s a central tenet of his message. If you had any balls, you’d put it in your header, and if he had any, he’d write it on his chest and walk around Killeen or Fayetteville or Oceanside.
…Ahem, Matthis… Most people quit writing on themselves sometime back in grade school…
For the record, I’ve sent the picture to Jose Vasquez, IVAW’s ED, and asked him if this is the official position of IVAW.
And I’m wondering if that’s a bib or a halter top.

Even if you hear back from them, I think it’s pretty clear they don’t enforce even their own rules and we already know they clear don’t give a damn about Soldiers.

How can someone who has never deployed speak about how messed up the war is? Matthis is a liar and a rapist. I’m against the war in Iraq, and I have actually seen the war first hand. Oh, this must make me a creepy internet stalker. Or maybe I’m just telling the truth. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR LIES OR RAPE.

Since I do a pretty successful job of presenting the military side of things in my online design shop, perhaps a shirt that says:
“IVAW Board- Soldiers are not heroes”

well this may piss a few of you off but…being a soldier, sailor, airman or marine does not make you a hero it makes you patriotic…going above and beyond the call of duty makes you a HERO…that is why the MEDAL OF HONOR isn’t just passed out, and those that EARN it are not around to receive it, mom, dad wife or husband are usually the ones it’s presented to…at the funeral…and if you think I left out our coasties read again…coasties are sailors…USN ret sends and I knew a HERO…
Doesn’t piss me off. I’ve no disagreement with the statement “Not all soldiers are heroes”; most rational folks would agree, I think. After all, Matthis was a soldier– need we say more? However, I have had the privilege to have known and served with some men and women who truly embody heroism, some who performed singular heroic actions without concern for themselves, and some who by virtue of their sacrifices, are heroes to me. And no pussy who bills six days in Afghanistan as a “deployment” is going to paint himself as something he clearly isn’t, while at the same time denigrating honorable men en masse and soaking up attaboys from legions of the uninformed if I have anything to say about it.
Looks like the IVAW is showing it’s asscrack again.

I do agree that not all soldiers are heroes (I certainly don’t consider myself one nor do most) I think we all know what Matthis meant and he is making the blanket statement “soldiers” not “some soldiers” he means “no soldier” and I’m sure he meant to lump marines, airmen, and sailors into the bunch as well, he just didn’t have enough backbone to do it (yah, another pun intended)

He’s just a walking cliche of the anti-war movement, and that makes him an easy target. He embodies everything that is wrong with the left, and as long as they continue to humor him, fund him, put him in a position of power and allow his exaggerations and lies (and those of others similarly situated) to be prominently featured in their official business, they undermine their own mission better than any milblogger or pundit ever could.
