Short memories

A diarist at VetVoices who calls himself HalDonahue is on a tear about Walter Reed’s upcoming move to two new facilities at Bethesda, MD and Fort Belvoir, VA. HalDonahue claims that the move denies world class care to the troops at a crucial timein the war against terror;

The Base Realignment And Closure (BRAC) is now causing DoD planners to deprive wounded military personal and indeed the entire military family of the very best medical care. The above quote confirms that the Department of Defense (DoD) directed that wounded soldiers be routed away from Walter Reed, the only world-class institution of its kind in the world. By DoD admission, the the New Walter Reed National Military Medical Center will not be world class.

I happen to agree with Ol’ Hal that this is a mistimed move. But unlike Hal, I remember that the Army tried to speed up construction at Bethesda over two years ago and the Democrat Congress, namely Chris VanHollen, Maryland Democrat Congressman, blocked them over concerns that the SUV-driving yuppies on Wisconsin Avenue would find the traffic disconcerting. I wrote about it then.

HalDonahue asks “Where are the Veterans Service Organizations?” Where was VoteVets when VanHollen was more worried about his rich yuppie constituents’ drive time than the troops? Where was HalDonahue? And what the F are they doing about it now, besides paying lip service?

This is the bastard who I tried to get booted from the American Legion, back in 08 when I wrote the nat’l Commander about the words of this guy and the Legion. All they did was forward it to my Post. This POS is all over Townhall.com dissing anything and everything troop related, along with being in the bag for the Pied Piper. I am sure I have some of his wonderful words in my time machine…and he also writes at huffpo. He has dissed Commander Rehbein and gets to retain his lifetime membership? I’m not down with that. It reflects badly on our organization and what we do.

I don’t think he does anything constructive with his mindset and he is delusional when it comes to reality. Anyone who supports the WOT, or stands up for the troops is a reactionary, according to him. I despise this SFB.

The veterans service organizations are on Capitol Hill fighting against it, providing testimony on it, and fighting tooth and nail. I don’t remember running into Hal at any point up there on Capitol Hill working on the issue. I could point out testimony from DAV, VFW and The American Legion on this very subject, but what good would it do? VoteVets is impervious to the truth.

Always remember this. They hate us, doesn’t matter about anything but that. They hate us, to the last man or woman in uniform. It is a hatred that I have dealt with in my own family. Trust me on that one from a guy who volunteered toward the end of the Vietnam War. Also about ninety five percent of my HS classmates fit in that category.

FYI, Hal Donahue is LTC (Ret) Hal Donahue USAF.
He has a very good radio show, and isn’t the bad guy you turn him out to be.
The two of you might be on different sides of the fence, but when you use the “Where were you?” argument, you start sounding like a pissed off hausfrau.

Those of us who read TH, all know that Hal is retired USAF. I don’t give a rat’s ass about it, because as I said, he does not *do* he only spews. And, if this post on TH is any indication of the way his mind works, I wouldn’t want him watching my back.
There is nothing in the UCMJ to suggest a soldier may not espouse his religious beliefs. That would be unconstitutional.
The closest I can get to Hal’s gibberish is article 88 and that’s not even close. Hasan, however, committed multiple crimes according to the UCMJ and it was ignored.

“…Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin knows something about political correctness in the military. Gen. Boykin, a highly-decorated combat veteran was dragged through the mill by the liberal media back in 2003 for expressing his Christian beliefs in Christian churches. They charged the general was calling for a Christian crusade against the Muslims…”

The general crossed the line(are you effing kidding me? Emails to Jihadi clerics while at war and a general espousing faithin uniform, totally different) when he appeared in uniform spouting his religious extremism (No, he did not. The Constitution provides freedom of religion, you idiot, and being a soldier does not negate that. Political speech is what is not proper). If he appeared, as required by law, as Mr. Boykin and in civilian garb there would have been no problem.

As far as Hasan, he was a mediocre at best medical officer who should have been tossed out. Military medicine is yet another broken aspect of the disastrous legacy of the Bush Regime. (yes, Hal, it’s all Bush’s fault, your meme for everything in the world that is wrong is Bush did it.)
Military medicine needs to be rebuilt now. (And one thing has nothing to do with the other. Crazy Muslim terrorist doctor, religious general= fucked up medicine. No, Hal. Try again.)
