Midweek Open Thread
Christmas Eve is seen by most as the entire day before Christmas. When Christianity had its beginnings, it used the Jewish concepts for the day. Instead of beginning at midnight, or at sunrise, religious days began at sundown during the previous day. The night portion of the day came before the lighted portion of the day. Thus, at sundown today, it would be “Christmas Evening.” Enjoy your Holiday weekend!

Present and accounted for with a fresh GI Joe hairdoo.
None of this purple. mutton chop, face pubes bullshit and I’m 18 years out.
Smooches fucktards. Have a lovely Merry Fucking Christmas and solid rest of the week.
Happy Christmas Eve all!
Merry Christmas to each of you, and may God bless you and your loved ones.
Present! Merry Christmas to all you ladies and dickweeds! D’s Cantina is open, the chili is percolating in the Crockett pot, tamales will be steaming soon, and there’s Shiner and Sam Adams in the fridge. God bless us, every one!
Sounds like a lovely evening, what time is bedtime? Hopefully before the beer runs out!
( (memories of KoB. Thx))
I miss that crotchety old bastid.
Oh, I that will be sooooogooood! Enjoy! 🙂
It is this time of the year I miss being on active duty. When I was in I could always count on an unaccompanied tour, a TDY, a deployment, a stand by call, or some silliness that got me out of visiting my in-laws.
Merry Christmas to all.
My Holiday ended this past Sunday and we jump into Christmas eve tonight and I want to wish all you Guys & Dolls commentors and your families a very Merry Christmas… See you later Alligator
After while, crocodile! Merry Christmas 🎄
Pretty soon, baboon.
I’ve been on vacation these last few days, down in Houston to catch up with one of the guys I served with, and a buddy from Australia who flew in for a month.
I realized I had a chance to try Yuengling, since my Northwesterner ass is down in the saner parts of America…KoB, brother, you had good taste. I’ll be raising one to you tonight.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
When Bud Light had their hissy Yuengling saw the opportunity and stepped to meet the shift in market demand. FWIW, I think tastes different now, not as good as it used to be. For sure, it is better from the bottle than a can.
May as well try a Shiner while you’re here. Despite some opinions I think that Lone Star is not so bad but, again, it needs to be in bottle and not a can… unless you get it really cold.
Really cold, hell, that’s probably true of most of the marginalized brews. Truly good beer doesn’t have to be frosty to be delicious. Anyone who drank local beers in Europe can probably attest.
I’ve had Shiner. Its good. We actually get it up north. Yuengling, though, doesn’t show up anywhere in the PNW.
Bottles for life, man. Canned beer just means I’m desperate lol.
Beer makes one very smart, after all it made Bud Wiser.
And lighter.
Shiner has several options. I’m partial to the Bock and the Black Lager myownself.
A MARRY Christmas Eve to all, numba-13, present and unaccountable as I award myself Honorary First yet again.
((((OVER))))
Up on the topside click, click, click
Down through the bridge hatch, comes Chief Nick
Ooh, oh,, ohooo…look at’em go!
So that explains why Jews start sabbath on Friday evening and end it on Saturday evening.
When does first watch begin and end?
Happy Christmas all!
A blessed Christmas Eve to all, and a blessed Christmas Day tomorrow to all of you.
Just wrapping up the annual Christmas Eve festivities at the GB Compound. Begun in all innocent ignorance by Mrs. GB and myself some 52 yeas ago, we gather for snacks (cheese, sausage, crackers have now grown to that plus ham, stuffed mushrooms, a Norwegian Ring Cake, and other goodies), a reading of the Christmas story from Matthew and Luke, and opening of presents.
These may be scant, but treasured by all involved.
For the first time, a grandchild has brought a potential future addition to join the celebrations.
We are blessed beyond all measure.
May God bless and keep you and yours, all and every one.
In lieu of any trivia (gotta wait for that until tomorrow), here’s a gift for everyone. Merry Christmas to all my friends at TAH!
