Happy Thanksgiving! As I’ve usually done with threads like this, some advice for maximizing your leftover food enjoyment. Spray water on the food before you microwave it. The result would come close to food that was freshly baked. If you drink alcohol, drink water after every serving.

I grew up believing the traditional green bean / mushroom soup / fried onion casserole was my grandmas recipe. Imagine the loss I felt when I saw the recipe on a can of fried onions. My childhood was based on lies. What’s next, no Santa?
No soup recipe – Fresh green beans, (low sodium) chicken stock, sour cream, corn starch. Fresh mushrooms cooked in white wine with a little garlic and butter, a bit of parm chee and panko bread crumbs. We are an onion free home here (had to eat them as a kid 🤮).
Mrs Eggs is making her crock pot smashed taters.

Thanks Graybeard! I’m doing just that! It’s a very long list, too! although it’s so different for hubs and me now. We’re “the last man standing” and it’s so quiet I can hear the clocks ticking! I can feel the sands of time (87 trips around the Sun). Hip prosthesis separated a night ago when I slipped off the bed and I had an unplanned visit to the ER. Thank God for our Paramedics! Back home now and kind neighbors have graciously shared their Thanksgiving dinners! We are constantly blessed and truly thankful. It’s always heartwarming to read TAH and I have highest respect for the editors and contributors. But one, I keep my eye on if ykwim.

Dear Mr. Turkey, if you try, real hard, you can fly. Your flying will not be graceful and directional control is not available. Do be grateful that your limited flying ability is a safety feature.
Decide where you desire to land and get lined up just right before you try. Be polite to anyone who gets in your flight path, they will definitely be smarter than you and they know that you will provide a tasty meal.

Wild turkeys (no, not the bottled kind) fly just fine. Short bursts at 55 mph. Domestic turkeys got just enough brain power to support life.
I’ve heard that domestic turkeys will DROWN if they’re left outside in a heavy rain!
I’ve heard that too, I really don’t know. I ran into a flock of feral turkeys as a teen. Mean, territorial, and will attack in a group. Put my ass right back in the pickup.
Neighbors told me there are turkeys around here eating under one of my bird feeders.
