Democrat: No connection between Decarlos Brown’s murder act and his prior releases

| September 26, 2025

Decarlos Brown was charged with the murder of Iryna Zarutska during a train ride. Many conservatives pointed to Brown’s criminal past and his subsequent release from government custody. Their reasoning is that had Brown been held as long as he normally would’ve been held for his prior crimes, Zarutska would still be alive. However, North Carolina State Representative, Marcia Morey, Democrat, dismissed these criticisms of the state’s bail policy. Morey insisted that there was “no connection” between Brown’s current accusation and his prior releases.

From Fox News:

A North Carolina state representative is under fire for saying there is “no correlation” between the murder of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old refugee from Ukraine, and the fact that her accused killer had been released from jail 14 times.

State Rep. Marcia Morey, a longtime Democratic lawmaker and former judge, made the comments while defending the state’s bail system. Critics argue the system has allowed violent offenders to cycle in and out of custody with little accountability.

Decarlos Brown has been described by authorities as a dangerous career criminal who was repeatedly in and out of jail before he allegedly stabbed Zarutska to death on a light rail train in Charlotte. Many believe a broken bail system allowed him to remain free despite his violent record.

Morey, one of North Carolina’s most vocal advocates for bail reform, defended her comments and went on to condemn efforts to connect the case to bail policies.

“But don’t correlate what happened in January and a magistrate who set a bail according to guidelines to what happened in August. There is no correlation,” she said during a legislative session.

Her argument has been countered by many lawmakers, who claim the tragedy shows exactly why it’s dangerous to allow repeat offenders back on the street.

Republican Senate Leader Phil Berger argued that bail reform measures designed to keep more defendants out of jail while awaiting trial are endangering public safety.

“Iryna should still be alive. She should be thriving and enjoying time with her family and friends,” Berger said. “We cannot let North Carolina be held hostage by woke, weak-on-crime policies and court officials who prioritize criminals over justice for victims. We are also taking steps to revive the death penalty for those who commit the most heinous crimes.”

A history of violent offenses with no consequences, yet there’s no correlation.

Please, don’t forget to spay or neuter your democrats.

Libtards gonna libtard.. one thing they’re consistent on ( besides hating Trump AND us) is that they never admit to being wrong, even when the evidence is overwhelming..

They are True Believers. They cannot conceive of being wrong.

Purely coincidental, past performance does not guarantee future performance…

Just like Socialism they are gonna get it right some day.

I wonder how these DildoCrsts would feel if career multi-crime criminals were released into THEIR PERSONAL custody, at their house.

Graybeard

I think Gov. Abbot showed that with Martha’s Vineyard.

It doesn’t really matter if there is or isn’t a connection, simply put 14 releases for a potentially violent criminal is obscenely incompetent and a clear danger to the general welfare of the society at large.

A schizophrenic with a history of threats and robbery with a deadly weapon, also homeless meaning he’s off his meds isn’t someone who should be wandering around loose in any decent society.

Robbery with a deadly weapon means at some point he was previously prepared to use a weapon to force an outcome he desired, why do so many judges fail to see that a willingness to bring a weapon along means a willingness to use said weapon is likely also?

After the first five arrests perhaps someone should have considered having him committed for his and our safety.

Deckie

IMHO, judges are just as complicit as the criminals they release into the wild to commit these crimes.

Fuck her.

I believe the future Trump EO may have to have bail reform as relief to these horrible and unfair options. In the future, anyone such as State Rep. Marcia Morey, who opposes traditional incarcaration, and votes for alternative options should be precisely afforded exactly that. Alternative options.
Decarlos Brown should be quartered in the resience of said reformer State Rep. Marcia Morey, for the durration until he is sufficiently reformed for release to the general public, AND State Rep. Morey can manage the associated expenses for this accommodation, forthwith.
TAH DAH!!!!
Took care of THAT problem.

Trump can’t issue an EO for bail reform for non-federal crimes. Not unless they revoke the Tenth Amendment.

Whan I initially read “Decarlos Brown should be quartered …”, I thought with glee of something totally different (drawn and…….)

UpNorth

We can certainly hope for that outcome!

AFTER having his manly parts excised, then opening his abdominal cavity and removing his internal organs.

Just like in olden times!

I have read that the quartering part had not to do with tying four limbs to horses and galloping off into four different directions — but that the body was chopped into four parts and sent by horse to distant communities to show how a criminal is treated.

Either way is okay by me.

I suggest implement as a method to send him to hell

Criminals are one side of the coin the terrorist group Antifa are on. They help destabilize our society to help usher in their communist utopia. Why else would demonrats go out of their way to ignore or defend the worst of the worst (murderers, rapists, pedos, etc.). By pretending that there is no issue with either of these groups and saying that our accusations are overblown (i.e. saying Antifa is only an idea/dismissing out of control criminality in their areas of control), they can say they have plausible deniability and that they are not responsible for it, whilst calling us nazis and every other insult in the book and having their allies in the media megaphone that to their radical base (i.e. these people are evil and they are your targets. ).

Amateur Historian

It’s all coordinated and intentional.

Can we start calling them “Antifa Deniers”?

I think the best part of all that is that is the media shows a shocking lack of interest in Antifa. You would think that a secret group that runs around assassinating people, attacking law enforcement with guns and conducting general terror operations would be of interest to them. But nope, nothing to see here, move along.

Sounds like a perfect Project Veritas thing to do. Those guys could be heros again.
