Here endeth the argument, whatever it was.
People do not seem to realize that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Nice pig sticker.
I purchased one at the Infantry bookstore at Benning. Someone stole it from my wall locker at Harmony Church barracks when I was at Ranger School.
Sounds like the fellers in dispute hadn’t had their coffee yet and were a mite grumpy.
I still wish I’d gotten a Gerber MkII back in the day.
Airborne Brother had one that cut its on lanyard on a jump and disappeared.
If my opinion of the world is that is sucks, what does that say about my character?
That you’re a realist most of the time?
Have you thought about moving away from Minnesota?
And give up freezing cold winters?
No way.

No way.
I need to find my Mk II. I carried it in Iraq in ’03, along with an ASP baton. We were still required to carry spare barrels for the M249, and everyone was issued bayonets for the Invasion (though they were almost all packed with our “B” bags), so I asked about welding a bayonet lug on so I’d have a short spear in case the M249 went down. I wasn’t allowed to…
In my unit, the M249 brought up the rear in a room clearing stack, covering rear and high security. In case of a short room, I’d be in the hallway covering the uncleared area(s). Of course, being open bolt, the M249 was known to fail to fire when you needed it most, so my plan if that happened was to throw the gun at the enemy and use the spare barrel, knife, baton, or whatever else to come out on top. Fortunately, I never had to test that plan.
Later, I was a Grenadier for a bit. That saw me as the first to enter a room. We kept star clusters in the M203, and my plan was to use that first if an enemy was in the room. It wouldn’t have armed (theoretically), but a 40mm projectile would have more immediate effects than a couple of 5.56mm.

Barren, my field is, save of mockery for said politician.
A Mark Ii is like a . 44 magnum. You don’t handle it for a while, then you even think about unloading some of the surplus toys. Then you pick it up and say “Ah hell no – it is just too right” and you hang onto it forever. Can’t remember if I got my Mark II in ’73 or ’74?
AWSOME blade! Always wanted one, never got around to buying one
