Homeowner shoots, kills 2 men in ski masks claiming to be officers, HPD says

An investigation is underway after two men wearing ski masks and claiming to be police were shot and killed at a home in southeast Houston Friday night, according to the Houston Police Department.HPD said this happened around 11 p.m. at a home on Bellnole Drive, which is off Ahrens Street near Galveston Road.
The homeowner told police the two men said they were police and claimed they were at the home to serve a warrant.
“[The homeowner] became suspicious, because, you know, they have a ring camera too, and the suspects were saying they had a warrant, but it was just two people and they’re masked up and no police cars, no lights or anything like that,” said Lt. Khan with HPD.
At some point, police said the men shot at the homeowner through the door, prompting the homeowner to return fire.
KHOU 11’s Michelle Choi spoke with a neighbor, who said they heard a total of 22 gunshots.
The homeowner was not hurt in the gunfire, but the two men were both hit and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the two men were wearing bulletproof vests and had some sort of badge around their necks.

I’m presuming he used a rifle caliber (7.62×39 seems a good choice) vs the invaders pistol calibers.
That pistol may be nice, but not $7K nice. And a proprietary 7.5mm cartridge? What would that be…? Approx 32cal? 25 cal?
Too oddball, too new, too proprietary. I’ll wait this one out for awhile.
Call it a .30 and you’re within spitting distance. 7.62mm is the metric version of . 308″.
Have you seen the pressure the 7.5 FK operates at? Just shy of 51,000psi. That’s well into rifle territory.
You essentially get M1 Carbine balistic performance from a 6″ barrel. 850ft/lbs of ME compared to 960ft/lbs with all 18 inches of the M1.
That’s damn impressive if you ask me.
With those kind of pressures, how quick/often would you have to change out the barrel and other components? (springs?)
It’s all steel and weighs 39oz. It claims to have some recoil dampening system that tames recoil down to .45acp +p
I would love to shoot one.
If 7.5FK takes off, a PCC would be great. See what an extra 6-8 inches of barrel length would do.

I wonder if the ring camera recorded their deaths. That would be awesome.

A while back a guntuber, Demolition Ranch, did multiple video’s about the “quality” of temu vests. It was entertaining and very drafty products.

I have a strange one for a’y’alls discussion and perusal.
I found 13 rifle rounds, appear to be 7.62×51 (308 Win).
Copper or copper coated bullet.
BUT…the strange part is the primer.
It looks to be a double primer?
There are two rings at the base.
The inner ring appears sealed with something purple.
There are stampings at the skinny base of the cartridge itself that I can barely read, “4 49” and “7.62” (guessing on that one, somewhat illegible).
I need to find my soft eraser to try and clean it up.
Any help here?

Outer ring is a ring crimp to make sure the primer stays seated in full auto weapons, purple stuff is sealer. 7.62 is caliber, 4 49 probably indicates manufacturer. May not be 4 49, could be non-English letters or numbers.

4 49 sounds like a Chinese factory code.
I know you can’t get Chinese crap down there anymore. But, I suppose those could be pre ban if you’ve had them for a while.
The case appears to be full-on brass, not copper wash steel.
And they were brought into my daughter’s store (last week?) by an old timer who finds, collects, and sells oddities.
I’ll have to ask my daughter to ask the old timer where he found them/how long he’s had them.
Did they save the receipts for those “bullet proof vests?
